Some of the Homesense/Winners/Marshals stores get a little chaotic after the shoppers have had time to go through everything and shuffle the clearance items around, but the staff at this store seem to be working really hard to keep this location spiffy. This shopping area of Stittsville has been really well planned out - the parking lots are well organized, there is a good use of roundabouts to separate the areas and help to prevent that "I Got Here First" Stop-Sign issue, and the assortment of stores is very useful.

I pass it quiet frequently and always wanted to stop in, but it was never on the top of my priority list, especially with so many other thrift stores on that street. I had some Christmas items that I wanted to donate, and thought, this is my chance to check out Bibles for Missions. I could tell just from stepping up to the donation door that they bombarded with donations. The donation door was wide open and there were a couple of workers in the back, no greeting, acknowledgment, or thank you, so I plopped my donation down and decided to check out the store. The first thing that I noticed were the signs placed in the entrance "please leave big purses and bags at cash, we reserve the right to search your bag," and so on. Maybe there has been a lot of theft? Not sure, but it did not give me a friendly first impression. No greeting, or acknowledgment throughout the 15 minutes browsing the store, but there were plenty of staff on the sales floor for customer assistance/questions. I did not find that there was a great selection, it was like walking through grandmas basement. Nothing caught my eye here, and I was not "wowed" by anything in particular. What stands out about this thrift store than others, is that it is mostly volunteers, and the majority of the profit goes towards their partnership with the bible league of Canada. There are only a couple good vendors left, and the mall feels deserted. As a shopper there, I have experienced allergies due to dust and actual mold on furniture! The lady at reception has made rascist comments which are unacceptable and is curt and rude . Waste of time to go anymore because the owners won't fill the booths with nice objects. No dogs allowed here even though the owners keep their dog there. The lady turned away a girl with a small dog who wanted to browse and said it was too hot to leave dog outside. The owner actually says she hates when kids come in. Been shopping here since 2005 and there is nothing more here. Come well before closing as owners pack up mall and usually close early.

Here are a few key points... 1. Some of the dealers are actually in their booths on weekends, which makes it nice when you have questions or are wanting to make an offer. 2. The business does not face the street, but faces a small private lot on Bank St. I did not see it at first, but it was there. 3. There are more small items here. You will find furniture, but definitely more in the way of books, art, jewelry, etc. I noticed an over abundance of dishes and crystal decanters. 4. They have a staffed information booth at the front which doubles as both shoplifting patrol and actual information source. 5. You can probably breeze through here in 30 minutes. It is not huge, but big enough to make it worth a stop.
