She even waxed and waxed off a piece for me so that I could see how to do it correctly. I was able to get everything I needed to do the project which by the way came out amazing! BEWARE! This store has a no return policy for apparently everything. Originally, went to this store to purchase the Annie Sloan Chalk paint and wax to paint and wax some cabinets. They we're helpful and had numerous samples to assist in color selections. We were sold a small brush to apply the Annie Sloan wax which was quite expensive at $52. Tried to return it and was told they would not refund the money. Mind you, the brush was unused, still in the original packaging with the original price tag on it and accompanied by the original receipt. They have printed on each receipt, "No Returns or exchanges on Paint or stencils and any other paint mediums. No exceptions. Defective items only returned within 3 days of purchase. Strict store policy." I can see the policy for the paint or stencils or any other paint medium, but to refuse a refund for an unused item in its original packaging with the original receipt is unacceptable. A reputable business would be more than happy to refund a customer in a similar situation. The statement that defective items only returned within 3 days is not very reasonable, especially when most of these projects are done on weekends. Apparently they aren't willing to refund anything with the 3 day restriction. I have to assume this company doesn't value or trust their customers if they need such a strict return policy. Please be careful and DON'T buy anything from this store if you are uncertain whether you will use it, because as soon you pay for it, it's yours. As for the Annie Sloan products, I have no complaints. Good quality products. I just wouldn't purchase these products from a company that has such a restrictive return policy. I would rather take my chances with purchasing over the internet. read more

I walked into this cute store hoping to find a new love of painting and I was sadly disappointed. Not a single person said hello and I walked in circles around the store trying to figure out what I wanted/needed to compete my home project. I picked my paint and wax and paid for my merchandise. I had to initiate communication. The atmosphere was not welcoming and very awkward. The paint itself was just ok. I had to use three coats to fully cover my cabinets. This store is close and conveniently located but I honestly might purchase my chalk paint on amazon next time. It's sad that I tried to help out our towns small business but get better customer service from a large corporate company. read more

This is the only place to go in Bakersfield for the original chalk paint, Annie Sloan brand. If you follow blogs and youtube personalities who do chalk painting, you know this is considered the absolute best chalk paint. There is a great selection of colors to choose from and you can't beat the customer service! The owner explained the entire process to me, demonstrated different techniques, and I felt no pressure to buy anything. The store also has several pieces to purchase that are beautiful! I went in to pick up color swatches for an extensive home project we are planning to begin in a month. The sales lady said they only had one brochure left with writing and paint all over it. She proceeded to tell me the brochure costs $2 and she would reduce to $1 because it wasn't in perfect condition. Are you kidding me?!?!?!?!? First off, you would've made your whopping $2 and MUCH more off of my paint purchase in addition to the brush and wax purchase. And second, this is what is considered the COST OF DOING BUSINESS! What a joke!!! I would NEVER purchase from some place that doesn't give a complimentary swatch. Do you give a receipt for purchase or does that cost an additional $1 too? Oh wait, I've read another review saying you have a zero return policy...so who needs a receipt? Laughable. read more

Did their paint a pot paint night last night. The class was great easy project with step by step instructions as you go along. You were told to bring your own wine but my friends and I forgot to bring a bottle so the staff their were very kind and went out of their way to go grab a couple bottles (on them). I absolutely love chalk talk!! Every time I go in there the owner or the girls whoever's working are so extremely informative. They don't try to oversell me on things which is amazing they always just tell me what I need and ask if I have pictures of what I want to do or a specific thing in mind ask if I have brushes I have wax I have all of the tools that I need to do the following project that I want to get done. By far the best chalk choice place in town and they have amazing furniture to buy in there which is pretty reasonably priced but everybody should go definitely check it out love the store!!!! read more

This is the only place for Annie Sloan chalk paint. Went to workshop yesterday learn how to paint cabinet, they provide all the material. Every step was explained professionally. Owner of the store was very helpful and answered all the questions with detail. Even we took more time than we were suppose to but they did not rush us to finish. I'll be back to this store many many times in the next few months as I am re-decorating my entire home. The ladies that work here are SO helpful. I had never tried a chalk paint project before and they went over everything about it with me and even helped me decide on what color to paint my grandmother's tall dresser for my two littlest girls' mermaid themed bedroom. By the way, the piece turned out spectacular and I'm already off to the races painting a tv console and a coffee table. The paint is amazing quality. I picked up a Valspar brand over the weekend just to compare (I typically love Valspar paint)... but there was no comparison. For chalk paint, Annie Sloan is the only way to go. It's pricey, but you get what you pay for! My entire dresser only used about 1/4 of the can of paint so it also goes a very long way. I'm so excited to give every brown wood outdated piece in my home a fresh makeover! read more

First of all let me say the old ownership on Rosedale was fantastic. The new ownership is horrible. I've used Annie Sloan chalk paint for years now and never had an issue. Even ordered online from another retailer in NY (after Rosedale location closed)and never had an issue. I was excited when the location opened downtown rather than East Bakersfield in a crime infested area. The paint here is either old or not stored at the proper room temp required. My paint was extra thick and did not adhere or cover the way Annie Sloan chalk paint always has. When I went into the store to find what I needed the customer service was horrible. I needed to create a custom color and basically had to go with what I found online for the proper mixing. I had to ask could we sample mix in store and then the attempt to do so was lacking horribly. The old shop had a place where you could go in and mix and see exactly what you needed to purchase BEFORE buying to accomplish whatever you were attempting. The old owner would help you figure it out, offer advice, and assist anyway possible. I'm sad to say, I will have to continue ordering online as even the online company was extremely helpful and top quality. So disappointed in this experience as nowhere else sells Annie Sloan paint in Bakersfield. read more
