Fireside Inn - Efficient mini-kitchen. (Backcountry Suite)

Fireside Inn

Fireside inn was a GREAT find. I was coming in late (8p) and leaving early ish (7:30a) so really I…read morejust wanted a safe place to shower and sleep. I found fireside online and it was by far the most affordable option in Breckenridge for a single night so I went for it in a two person dorm, and luckily I happened to be the only one in that room that night! The room was definitely snug but it was cozy and very comfortable and I slept very well. Finding the place was also very easy, they provide very clear instructions and there is plenty of parking at the church across the street (just mind their specific parking instructions and you won't have any trouble). Re: the interior: it's actually a very large place with two full baths and one half bath. I never even saw/heard another guest when I came but again it was late. The vibe was that it was a very comfy, chill place - they have soothing music playing over by the office door where the coffee/tea machines are, and there is a small kitchen and living room area. They had a real fire going in the living room area and there were games and books and lots of "things to do" brochures around, so truly it felt like being in a cozy cabin. I genuinely really loved that vibe. Not to mention it's quite close to the main road - you could easily walk but because it was raining heavily the night I came, I did drive all of 3 minutes to avoid walking 15 in the rain to the bar on Main Street I wanted to go to. They also sent me a text when i came in case i had questions, so they are available to help you. Overall - if you're coming and staying here for just a night or two and all you need is a bed/shower/safe space, this place is GREAT. Admittedly the rooms aren't big (at least mine wasn't), but again as a solo traveler it was fine. Would def rec to friends :)

Cozy, relaxing, charming stay in the Backcountry Suite. The decor is crisp and uncluttered. The…read morebrand-new bed is amazingly comfortable, but so is the trundle Daybed with tons of pillows -- easy to collapse onto after brisk walks in the chilly Breck air! Sturdy, grated outside steps lead to this suite, for safe access and for privacy. The location is unbeatable, just a 3-block walk to town and to all of the shops and restaurants. The "Free Ride" city bus stops in front of the Fireside Inn, and can take you to the Gondola and Breck Station, if you don't feel like making the 7-minute walk. [Tip: Epic Mountain Express shuttle vans from the airport can drop you directly at the Fireside Inn!] Our host Madi communicated beautifully before and during our visit. She and her family have put a lot of love and thought into making this a warm refuge from the cold and excitement that is Breckenridge.

Valdoro Mountain Lodge is a mixed experience for me overall, I'd rate it 2.5-3 stars…read more We stayed here during New Year's week. The location is definitely a plus it's close to town, walkable to shops and restaurants, and near the slopes, which makes it convenient if you're planning a ski trip. The property is also part of the Hilton Grand Vacations portfolio, and they offer self-parking, which I believe is complimentary. That said, the property itself feels pretty outdated. While I believe some of the rooms have been renovated, the overall facilities, lobby, gym, spa, and general décor could really use a refresh. The front desk area in particular felt a bit drab and not very welcoming. Check-in was just okay. We are Hilton owners (though not at this specific property), and while I understand priority may go to owners here, it was a little disappointing that we couldn't get a better room especially since the property didn't seem very full at the time. Our two-bedroom unit itself was decent. The showers had great water pressure, which I appreciated, but the bedding could use improvement the pillows were too soft for my liking. The bathroom overall was fine, although I personally didn't feel comfortable using the bathtub as it didn't seem as clean as I would've liked. I did like the fireplace in the room which came in handy and the balcony was nice. One downside is that housekeeping isn't automatically included you need to meet a certain stay threshold, which wasn't ideal. The amenities were underwhelming. The gym was very small and not well-equipped. The spa didn't really feel like a spa, and when I tried to use the steam room, it wasn't even on. There are multiple jacuzzis, but one wasn't working during our visit, so I had to move to another and share, which wasn't ideal. They do offer complimentary coffee and hot cocoa in the lobby, but it's only available for a short window and is more of a self-serve packet setup, which we did not like and didn't use. The biggest issue for me was the lack of follow-up from staff. After checkout, I realized I had left behind a small bag of items in the room. I called multiple times and was told each time that someone would follow up with housekeeping and call me back but I never received a call. When I finally reached someone again, I was told the items couldn't be found. The lack of communication and follow-through left a bad impression. Overall, while the location is great and the rooms are decent, the outdated facilities, inconsistent service, and lack of follow-up make it hard for me to return.

When we were using the hot tub we were the only people in this area so that was nice. They've got steam rooms, a gym, a lounge, a game room, and some grills out back from the 2nd floor. Also they do have a ski shop where you can rent equipment or buy things like hats, gloves, refreshments, etc. The room was nice. Our bed was comfortable. I enjoyed having both a tub and a shower in our bathroom. The people working here were amazing. Friendly and would quickly attend to any needs that we have. For example anytime we called the shuttle they would be there pretty soon afterward! Seriously the employees here really is what made this place earn its 5 star rating! Great location close to the slopes and close to Main Street for shopping and dining!

The staff was friendly and helpful. The other highlight was that there is a gorgeous path and stream you can walk along behind the houses (and nearby hotel). It's picturesque and even has fish. I'm giving it only a 4 star review because when we arrived at the property we were surprised to find that our house sat on a corner overlooking a hotel and large parking lot. If we used our hot tub we were staring at the hotel windows and the parking lot. It was not scenic or at all private, which was disappointing, especially given the pricing for the property. They had other properties which were farther away from the hotel which would have been much nicer.

Day 2 we head out for a hike and notice a horrible smell in the basement form both bathrooms. We call to report that morning to paragon so someone can check it out. While we're gone I get correspondence from Paragon relaying they are sending out additional repairmen. Apparently something is wrong with the tank. I decided to call at 5pm as we'd been out all day hiking and having a late lunch to see if the bathrooms were usable. The staff communicate no water was to be run which meant no shower and no toilets. When I asked Paragon staff what type of compensation we would get for the major inconvenience, she responded...you should feel grateful the basement didn't flood. Apparently Paragon wasn't grateful we helped them by reporting the smell immediately?! As for that evening, it was the ONLY night we had reservations for a nice evening out to dinner therefore a shower was necessary. We return back to the house all windows and garage door wide open with all of our belongs inside without anyone making repairs. It was left open by the repairman, his response when he got back..."I was only gone for a little while." Oh and...it smelt like literal s**t!! The smell was nauseating! At this point we made efforts to arrange new lodging but everywhere was booked. Finally the repairs were made and everyone showered and we left for dinner. Upon returning home, we continued to endure the smell and left by 10am the next morning. After my flight home, I decided to call Paragon to get a nights credit. After spending over $2200, all paragon would do is reimburse us $450. They claimed we cannot reimburse taxes and fees. Needless to say I am not thrilled with the level of service nor refund from Paragon. I would not use them again they took no accountability and extremely dissatisfied with level of customer service. Paragon claims to rent high end properties how the service does not match.
