Roast duck & mushroom pancake .... delightful
Mick A.

This restaurant has been an institution amongst the best restaurants in Canberra for many years. And now it has has moved to the premises of it's former sister restaurant Malamay. The regenerated Chairman is operating away from the city in Barton and near the grand Parliament building. It is was an ideal time to relocate this business as some of the sparkle had come off its operation in recent times with the premises looking tired and the menu in need of a refresh. This need is now filed to history as the new premises are modern and stylish utilising much of the Malamay feel with some subtle modifications. The menu is revamped and the cuisine is now a very elegant Cantonese. The menu has also been fined down with less dishes however the breadth of flavour and composition has true mouth watering appeal. This was our visit to the revitalised restaurant and being a party of four we were able to enjoy a wide selection of dishes which enabled us to have a genuine insight into the new menu. The dishes we selected included: * Tangs pork & prawn dumplings, * Roast duck & mushroom pancakes, * Lobster roll, * Steamed barramundi with ginger in a soy broth, * Beef and scallops pepper hotpot, * Shantung lamb, and * Beans & garlic side. Every dish was good with its own flavours. There were three that were standouts being the succulent lobster rolls, the steamed barramundi with subtle flavours and the roast duck and mushroom pancakes. There is an excellent wine list and a taste for almost all palates. Service was excellent and it was great to be back.....this is a good restaurant now back, doing great things!

We had some great food here, but the service was stretched very thin and a bit patchy. Would definitely go again.

Just got dinner here and had a great time. You walk in and immediately the atmosphere sets in, the…read morebar setting, the art, the lights, and the music, I cannot complain. Food wise I definitely over ordered but that was mostly because I could not narrow down what I wanted. I went alone and sat at the bar. I ordered 1 wagyu cheesesteak spring roll, one jalapeño noodle popper, 2 honey chicken bao buns, and a side of the yakimeshi fried rice. The apps came out almost immediately along with the Seoul sister cocktail. The bao buns and fried rice too a bit longer but the waiter made sure to check in with me and let me know that he would check on my order without me asking him too. The apps were delicious along with this sauces. The bao buns were also really good, just a bit messy to eat. The fried rice was so damn good but at this point I was so full that I got a take away box and am hoping to heat up the rest tomorrow! Overall great experience and hoping I can come again and do the taster menu they offer!

We opted for their 'regular banquet' that came with a free sparking wine, 9 dishes and an identical…read moredessert each. The highlights for me was the wagyu cheesesteak spring-roll and the tea smoked duck pancakes. The atmosphere was great with attentive waiters, who were amazing in explaining each of the dishes that came out. Full review: purplecuriosity.wordpress.com/2021/01/05/lazy-su/
