We had looked for 3 months to find a fence installer that still did wooden fences. After searching…read moreand reading reviews ( which need to be read with care ), I decided to go to Bruce fence. Melissa in the office was fantastic and very personable, went through the options I had looked at, gave me the good, better, best run-down, and helped with an initial ( ballpark ) quote. We set up a date for the next week for Will to come get a site review. He arrived right on time, listened to what we wanted to do, and then proceeded to measure, make notes, and head back to the office to work up the quote and email it to me. The quote was received in 2 days, and I went to place a deposit that day. The installation was set for 2-3 weeks later, but they ended up having a hole in the schedule and were here in a week. The installers were to remove and dispose of the 136' of existing fence, and then put the new one up. Initially estimated to possibly be a 2 day job. The crew arrived right on time ( crew of 3 ) at 8:00 in the morning, re-walked the site, confirmed the placement of the posts, and proceeded with the work. One member of the crew went about removing the old fence and digging the new post holes, and the other 2 placed the posts and sections of the fence. They seemed to work straight through, with just a break for lunch and one or 2 short breaks. Levels were used to make sure that the posts were placed correctly, and when all was done ( by 4:00 pm), the new fence was in. I walked the fence with the lead foreman and pointed out 1 or 2 things which were rectified right away. When they left, there was no trash, yard waste, or leftovers to dispose of. I am immensely pleased and would recommend them based upon my experience. Bill M. 10/19/23

We had a vinyl fence installed by Fenceworks about 3 years ago. The installation seemed very good…read more After the first winter, while still under warranty, the two posts that surround a large door shifted. The door wouldn't catch the latch anymore and wouldn't close We called fenceworks and they came and adjusted it. The next year, same posts, same problem. Fenceworks did come again and adjust the posts. The worker who banged the post down, cracked both posts (see picture) and put the cap back on so we wouldn't see it. We didn't notice the cracks until the wind blew the caps off of a couple posts. One of the workers came back at a later date and told my wife that the cracks were ok because the caps would cover them. We called the company out of concerns over the repeated problems we were having with the posts. The companies answer was that we had clay soil and water problems. Yet the other posts in the same vicinity and same soil didn't move. This year was an extremely mild winter, yet the same issue with the same posts occurred. We tried contacting Fenceworks for two months, almost every week. We rarely received a call back and the company's answer was that the posts needed to be installed differently but the warranty expired so we would have to foot the bill. We asked to speak with Bob on multiple occasions but never received a call back from him. The woman (Amanda) who answered the phone, was yelling at me when I tried explaining our argument. I tried explaining that the two posts were cracked by Fenceworks and again was yelled at saying she had no proof the Fenceworks cracked the posts. When I told Amanda that we needed the fence fixed and would pay them to do it, but I will be using my consumer right to write a review, Amanda yelled again, band said she was going to write s rebuttal that we want everything for free. My answer to that was that we paid $8000 for the fence and she can write anything she wants. Amanda stated that I was harassing them and for me not to call back. When my wife called to try to explain our side, Amanda's answer was that she's "just s secretary". We are hiring someone else to fix the fence. Overall, I would not recommend this company. If they don't look at the soil type before installation to see the best way to install the fence, then you may have problems like we are having. They came to "fix" the issue but it was more like putting a band aid on it. As far as the warranty, if you buy a new car and the transmission breaks at 10,000 miles, the same problem at 25k miles and then at 38k miles you have the same problem, you won't want to hear that the warranty expired.

I really appreciate that Gary and his son were willing to do the labor only for my fence…read moreinstallation. The fence panels that I wanted were hard to come by early this season - I was able to purchase materials from a friend and Gary did the install. He and his son were great: first of all, a real pleasure to have around, but more importantly, they did a professional installation along my driveway with a difficult incline, some rocks to navigate and nosy neighbors who were disputing the boundary line! Throughout these difficulties, they remained cool and did a bang-up job. Gary even offered to get me 2 more panels and come back the following week to install, because in the end, I wished the finished fence provided just a bit more privacy. I highly recommend 518 fence - they'll work with you to meet your specific needs and they're just good to be around.

Every step of the way, he checked with us to make sure it is exactly what we wanted done. He very pleasantly accommodated every request we had for changes (and there were several of them). His goal was to provide us with an end product that we are completely satisfied with. Gary's fencing work is excellent. He accounts for high and low spots in the lawn and keeps the top of the fence level. The finished product is gorgeous! We highly recommend Gary for your fencing project.
