Albeit, Au Stekerlapatte did have some of mixed reviews as well, it seemed to be the most consistently praised. I was excited because we were finally going to have the opportunity to try some truly Belgian things that we'd never had before... And quite frankly, had been weary of. The first of which was the tomato filled with little gray shrimp. Surrounded by lettuce and dollops of mayonnaise, it's especially a shrimp salad. Was it good? I don't know. I would say it wasn't bad though. To go along with our beers, of which they have a sizable beer selection, we also got the duo of croquettes. One is a shrimp croquet, which seems to be a bit skimpy on shrimp, and the other an Orval chese. Typically I'm a cheese croquettes kind of a guy, but I actually found the shrimp one to be a bit better. For our main, the wife ordered the stoemp, two sausages with a carrot mashed potatoes slop, and I got the rabbit in kreik sauce. I really enjoyed the rabbit, and would get it again, but it was a pretty small portion of rabbit. The sausage were good, but maybe not for 17€+. The carrot slop was just that--carrot slop. We decided to get dessert as well, having read their tarte tatin was pretty good. Wouldn't recommend it personally. Sure the calvados, and lightning it on fire is a nice touch, but it wasn't caramelized, or crunchy in any way, and seemed as if it had been steamed? Not sure what was going on there.
