I liked the food but the water did not taste good but the sprite was bad I did not taste good food was terrible

Looking to grab dinner while we were in Okotoks, we headed to ChaCha's. Not ever having fusion Indian before, I wasn't sure what to expect. I figured I couldn't go wrong with a dish that combined my fave dishes from two cuisines: pasta and butter chicken, and I was not disappointed! Found this gem on Yelp. It's in a strip type mall but the interior was really perfect. We had steak bites with four different sauces for the appetizer. Our meal was Butter chicken and Thai Coconut chicken. The food was delicious and naan bread was fresh and made there! We don't get Indian food back home so this was just what the doctor ordered. Came here for lunch today after reading positive reviews about this place. We ordered curry chicken with rice, order of samosas, curry chicken poutine, and calamari and extra naan bread. The curry was some of the most flavorful I've had. My wife thought it was too tomatoey for her taste.The curry chicken poutine was excellent with a good amount of chicken in it. The calamari was good as well and come with 4 different dipping sauces. One was like a bbq sauce, a garlic and mayo, and a mint sauce, and a sweet chili sauce. Oh yeah the samosas came with sauces as well. The service was friendly, but the food came out a little on the slow side. I guess good food takes time. Not sure if our server was the owner or manager but he suggested if we come back to have one of their burgers. I believe they have both lamb and beef burgers. We arrived without a reservation but had no trouble getting a seat. This should have been our indicator of what was to come alThough in fairness this restaurant seems to have a steady take away clientele. We ordered several appetizers followed by curry bowls. They were out of vegetable samosas. Seriously? The potato fritters and pakora had too much chick pea flour making them dry And mealy. The chicken tiki and mango chicken wings were the best of the lot but even they didn't induce "we want more". The naan bread is too thick and seemed like it had been reheated. The sauce in chickpea curry had been overcooked and had an unpleasant aftertaste. My companions liked their curry bowls of butter chicken, Thai shrimp and chili chicken. We regularly eat Indian food and love it but the cook at this restaurant just doesn't have the understanding of subtle blends of flavours. Service is great. The portions and prices are reasonable. This restaurant should be a home run in Okotoks but until the food improves, I'm not going to that ball park. read more

I was in town for just a few days from Los Angeles, and I searched for the highest rated local restaurant on Yelp. I found ChaCha Johns. I had a great experience on my first night with the chicken tikka masala. So I came back EVERY night i was in town. I had the Na-Co, the butter chicken, the rice pudding, and the battered onions. Everything was delicious. I received special attention from the manager who made recommendations and treated me like a valued guest. I was so happy there! Quick service, great food, good company. Always worth the drive from South Calgary! Yesterday was my daughter's 15th Birthday and the only place she wanted food from was from Cha Cha John's. While everything was tasty as usual, we were happy to see the Mango Cauliflower on the menu! Loved it!! read more

Staff is great, warm customer service, bland tasteless food. Tried Palak Lamb it's one of their Curry Bowls. The naan was dry and lacked seasoning. I got take out so the curry was separated from the rice and naan. When I opened to box I was surprised to find 1 and a half cups of rice. The amount of curry given was was a little more then the rice, just over two cups. Not sure if they are on a budget or what but when I am asked to pay $18 for one curry I expect to have some left over. Maybe they justify the high prices by adding rice and naan in the dish. The taste of the curry was so bland. No salt. No seasoning. I don't know how curry could be so tasteless. Couldn't taste Coriander, turmeric or even cardamom. I have stars because staff was awesome and a great environment at the restaurant. I understand that they want to do things different and they like the fusion idea and want to stand out as different. Different doesn't mean it's good. I hope they can reel things back in and focus on strengthening their bread and butter a great curry. read more

When I first started going here the food and service was phenomenal. We were going weekly. Then something changed. We went twice, the service was terrible. The same person working each time and he could care less to have your business. The second time we went giving the benefit of the doubt, we sat for 15 minutes and he said not one word to us. We got up and left. This is really too bad because the food is great, the service is terrible now. I will do take out going forward from here. read more

Pretty torn. When I first moved to Okotoks half a year ago this was one of the first restaurants I tried in town, and I was super pleased with the quality and service. However I've been back multiple times and I must say; quality is inconsistent. For example; love their pakoras but once they were so salty I could barely eat them, once so crispy they were almost burnt, and another time so raw they were mushy. Also have been given meat samosas instead of veggie, however they did reliever the proper ones free of charge. (As they should) I also find that for pickup orders the amount of time I have to wait is longer than the estimate I'm given. Overall, Cha Cha John's, please step up your game!! I belong to a club that meets monthly for lunch and we have been to Cha Cha Johns a few times now. It has always been just great. The staff are amazing and kind and accommodating. They are happy to help and explain everything on offer. The place is lovely and bright, comfortable and clean. The menu is super and offers real variety. They also have a great burger and fries if someone in your group isn't feeling too adventurous. We have tried the burgers, butter chicken, pakora, carrot ginger soup, and samosas. Everything has always been really, really good. Whether you have tried Indian before or not, you should try it - you won't be disappointed. A really wonderful addition to Okotoks. read more

The Coconut Squash Soup was amazing and I hesitated ti try it because I have not liked squash. Mixed it up had the wings Hot Chutney also very good. Veggie samosa was perfect. Grilled chicken sandwich very good. All in all very good place great prices and quiet. read more

Slow service, despite the restauraunt only being half full our meal took over an hour to arrive. Appetizer pakoras were pretty good. My wife had the coconut thai prawns which were terrrible. The sauce was not recognizable as a thai yellow curry and was extreemly salty to the point of inedible. I had the malabar fish curry which was pretty good, a tad too salty but enjoyable with enough water. Prawns and fish were very tender. We visited on a recommendation from my parents. Our experience was so great. The establishment was clean and pleasantly decorated. The staff (family owned and operated) were incredibly friendly, knowledgable and attentive. The food was unbelievable; the portions were perfect and priced very reasonably. The Indian dishes come with both rice and naan bread, which was a bonus! I would strongly recommend trying out Cha Cha Johns. You won't be disappointed! read more

Went with another couple on a Friday night. The service was fantastic! Both the server and the owner were friendly and chatty and attentive. The food was amazing. One of our party ordered a dish that turned out to be too spicy and they graciously brought him another meal. The veggie samosas, butter chicken, ginger soda and rice pudding are my recommendations.
