Great Japanese meals with friendly service and value for money. Our one must go to when we are in the Gold Coast.

Parking is available either through valet or in the parking lots for the Star. Kiyomi is located on the 2nd floor (one level above the casino). I highly recommend making a reservation because they often book up in advance. My favorite starter is the Hiramasa Kingfish which comes with Miso Ceviche and Crispy Potato. Its served very fresh and is both citrusy and sweet. For sushi rolls I enjoy the Queensland Roll as well as the Salmon Belly Roll. Then comes the highlight of the meal- the main course. I have two favorites and its impossible to choose just one our of them. The Dengakuman Toothfish with Caramelized Miso is incredible!! It is their take on the Black Miso Cod that is popular at Nobu Restaurants around the world. Another favorite is the Jack's Creek Wagyu 6+ Tenderloin with Sunchoke, Foie Gras Butter, Nashi Teriyaki and Nori. The cut of meat is incredible and the butter is such a wonderful addition to the taste. The service is always incredible with drinks refilled before they are empty and having servers always check up on you. Truly deserve the 5 star rating!

I've been coming to this restaurant for many months now and had to update my review after today's…read morevisit. Their service has completely downgraded and the standards have also gone down. Lets start with the basics...they have underground parking which is helpful if you cannot find street parking. Reservations are easy to make by calling or texting them. And their quality of fish is fantastic. These reasons alone are why I gave it several stars. However the service has truly gone downhill and their new waitresses are not very helpful. We made a reservation today for 6pm so that we could make it to a movie at 7pm nearby. Upon entering there were only 4 other people seated who already had some food. We ordered our drinks and when she returned with them told our waitress we were ready to order. This was at 605pm. Then came time to wait. After twenty minutes the restaurant started to get more busy. Lots of big groups coming in and many that the restaurant employees personally knew. We sat there patiently waiting as we weren't even given the miso soup that we ordered. After another 20 minutes (by this time it was 745pm) the waitress came by apologizing and asked if we would like the miso soup. Confused at this point we stated yes and asked when the sushi would be ready. We mentioned how we've been watching people coming in after us getting their sushi before us. She apologized again and went to get the soup. I'm not sure if she forgot to initially put in our order, but that is definitely what it seems like. After another 10 minutes (at 755pm) we finally received the sushi we ordered. It had been a 50 minute wait since initially ordering. Another waitress brought it by and apologized because the sushi chef was busy. Again I had mentioned that other people were getting serviced before us and she simply couldn't explain why. I love this restaurant and have had some great experiences however their service and bias ways have definitely made me start looking to go elsewhere.

They have a $46 set including an entree, main, rice, salad and miso soup as well as a dessert all hand picked by you. Try the Teriyaki Beef medium rare if you want your taste buds to go to heaven, the small sized fried chicken is pretty yummy and the size of what a normal main would be in any restaurant. All the dishes come with veggies so you get that too, and try the tempura ice cream with green tea ice cream for a superb end to the meal. Will definitely be putting this place on my list... highly recommended. Pssst, did I mention the sushi hand rolls are to die for too? Well, they are.

It's a bit dark inside but that might be a vibe choice. Parking is rough, streets available in the neighborhood. The salmon maki was probably the best dish hands down. The wagyu wasn't awe inspiring and was a bit more on the flaky fry side. The staff were nice and definitely tried to hurry up some patrons as there were so many people waiting. They have alot of choices and items to share. Would recommend for those in the area that want a high quality Japanese meal!

The entrance is through a secret barn-like door, which confused me the first time I went. Inside they have several types of seating options. The first time I came was Valentines Day and was sat at a communal table. Yesterday when I was able to get a private table. They also have tables for large parties where you sit on pillows (standard japanese style) and bar seating as well. For the food they have a huge selection on the menu. Lots of different dishes ranging from seafood to sushi to meats and everything in between. Both times I opted to do the Omakase menu as that seemed like the best deal. The first half of the items came out pretty fast but the second half took awhile. The salted edamame is delicious and still comes with the stems, which allows you to see its very fresh and not the frozen kind you buy in stores. Next I was presented with delicious sashimi. They had salmon, tuna, kingfish, and barramundi. Normally this dish comes with oysters but due to my food preference they just gave more sashimi. Following this dish the wagyu carpaccio was presented. This normally comes with jalapeño salsa however I requested it not to be spicy. Next was the shrimp tempura - huge pieces of shrimp lightly battered. My favorite dish was after that which was the black miso cod. AMAZING! The was its cooked and accompanied with the sauce is mouth-watering. Next came the hot stone beef. This was an interesting concept as the beef is actually cooked on the stone while they pour some fire liquid on top. Lastly I was presented with some nigiri and miso soup to end the Omakase menu. All of the food is outstanding and the service is remarkable. I'm from the States and this restaurant very closely resembles Nobu and Katsuya. Would highly recommend to everyone!
