I had a video call with Dr. R when I was pregnant (they told me it was required to meet the doctor before she can take my child as a patient) but they did not tell me they would bill my insurance for a physical. I have been trying to solve this issue with them (to see if they can change the coding) for almost year but it's going no where. On a side note Dr. R was great, but there are a lot of great pediatricians with better billing departments.

She, and her staff, are always available to listen, advise and help. They don't over or under medicate, they are kind, they don't send one to the ER at the drop of a hat, they provide a cell number that they answer directly at night (and into the morning). I can't say enough about how much anxiety and stress they have lifted from the job of being a parent. A recent example: my son has been coughing for weeks but has had no fever (summer cold). All of a sudden, he spike a big fever and is up all night. I call the cell number and get Dr. Porter on the way to drop her kids at camp. She tells me to call the office and bring my son in asap. We arrive at 8:30 and are seen by 8:45. They also take a look at my daughter. We left at 9:15 with a pneumonia diagnosis and medication at the CVS. Simple, no stress or worry about waiting with coughing kids in waiting room forever, no ER. I love Dr. Porter (and Dr. Chiang). My kids love her too and call her Dr. Popsicle. Who can argue with that?

I was so grateful to have Dr. Z come to my apartment to care for my newborn and me. Dr. Z is knowledgeable, kind, and flexible. The model of having the first two months of my child's care from home was so comforting- it allowed me and my baby to stay in the home and rest and heal after delivery. Meg from Tova health handled all the admin stuff. She made scheduling, paperwork, and setting-up the patient portal super simple. When it was time to transition beyond the first two months of care, Dr. Z and Meg helped us find the best pediatrician and make sure they had all our records. Awesome experience! Tova Health is the best!

I was not able to get out of bed for over a week after the birth, so our first meeting was with her sitting at the foot of my bed. Thank goodness we chose her for my daughter's pediatrician because there was no way I would have been able to take her to an office. I really needed the fourth trimester care to help me process the trauma from birth, and Dr. Z let me cry and repeat the story over and over again. I'll never forget the time she hugged me and promised me something good would come out of it. She was also provided excellent care to my daughter. I will never forget our crazy first meeting and her kindness. She listened and provided me care when my own OB/GYN's office failed to do so. It is absolutely ludicrous the postpartum care we receive. This fourth trimester care model should be mandatory everywhere.

Now, I can stand there in front of the 5-6 staffers and will be ignored until it's convenient for someone from the entire bank of front desk people to stop their talking and look at me, phone messages rarely get passed to doctors, neither front desk or docs return calls consistently; we're a divorced family and I almost never am the one getting any call at all, even when I specify that the doctor must call me, not the kids' father. Dr Gill seemed clinically disinterested in my daughter's issues, didn't have any good resources (and I mean NONE), didn't follow up on any issues, and totally missed two visually obvious problems my kid was having that were related to knee and back pain; Dr. Ballenger misdiagnosed my daughter and prescribed the wrong medicine when Rick Goldstein was unavailable, although she's a mighty chipper person, always up and energized. Dr Goldstein was the best around and he left with the new hires. Says something when a great doctor doesn't want to remain in a practice where he was active for years. Maybe when you are young and have a newborn on your hip, the front desk will greet you warmly. But if you are an older parent and older kids, even though you are a long term client, you may just get the cold shoulder.

In one word, Dr. Riney is amazing. She is funny, she is smart, she is lovely, she makes parents feel comfortable, she reminds us to stay calm, she is supportive. She's just downright awesome. She makes me want to quit my job, go to medical school and be a pediatrician. The NPs at West Cambridge Pediatrics are also amazing. They are all very knowledgeable, helpful and supportive. Lastly, the receptionists make us feel like part of the family when we walk in the door. What a wonderful group of people doing wonderful work.

As another reviewer said, they care. Pure and simple. It absolutely shows in everything they do. The front desk staff know me when I call & know my boys by name when we arrive for appointments. Dr. Bross is so warm & caring. He knows his patients and gears the discussion toward where they are developmentally. My older son has global developmental delay and is medically fragile. Dr. Bross has never missed a beat in dealing with him. He helps talk me through concerns and always reassures me that I know my son best. I deal with many, MANY doctors and I can tell you from experience, this is very refreshing. Maureen, the nurse practitioner, is wonderful. It's hard for me to explain the depth of her caring. Suffice it to say, she has become a third grandmother to both of my boys. I truly consider myself lucky to have found such a caring group of people. We recently moved to Watertown to our "forever home" and I refuse to find another pediatric office. I will trek the extra 15 - 20 minutes to go to Mystic Valley Pediatrics. As for the other more basic things that will play into people's decision of whether or not to choose this practice....parking is easy, there is free parking lot. The office is located right off of 93, so it is easy to get to from multiple locations. They are affiliated with Alewife Brook Pediatrics in Arlington (right on the border of Cambridge on Mass Ave.). Between the two practices, they have coverage every single weekend as well as Monday - Thursday until 7pm. The weekends alternate between the two practices and the physicians are available for sick visits only. Same goes for the weeknights between 5 & 7; they alternate nights (Mystic Valley covers Tues & Thurs and Alewife Brook covers Mon & Weds). That being said, they are able to fit patients in for a sick visit the same day when needed. At most, you'd have to wait until the next day, but we've never had to do that unless I requested it to begin with.
