I came to Dr. Koo with a long term case of GERD that was recently exacerbated by stress. My doctors had put me on multiple antacids that I was taking constantly, yet they didn't seem to help. First off, Dr. Koo is very easy to talk to. She didn't question my use of Rx drugs or diagnoses, instead she listened attentively and asked me about recent bloodwork. This was a relief because there are natural medicine practitioners who will tell you to stop taking medicines prescribed to you. After one session I felt a great relief of stress and tension. After a week of taking herbs my symptom severity was cut in half. Now that I've finished two weeks of herbs and a few weeks of acupuncture, my symptoms have almost gone. I have been able to stop taking my antacid medications because I simply don't need them. I would highly recommend Dr. Koo's services to anyone. They moved from the Broadway location in Chinatown to the corner of Hyperion and Rowena in Silverlake. Steve is a very knowledgable and friendly tea guide. He can give you a unique insight into Chinese teas, which range from the many varieties of oolong to puer, the exquisite jasmines, white and green teas. Other fledgling and commercial tea shops throughout LA consult with and purchase from him. His library of teas will blow away anything that you've ever had in a Chinese restaurant. It'll be like switching up your champagne from Cook's to Dom Perignon. He also has a nice selection of fairly-priced ceramic, wood and yixing clay tea pots, cups and trays. You can catch Steve between 4pm-6pm Monday-Thursday and all day Friday and Saturday. On Jan 25, 2021 I experienced sudden onset of DOUBLE VISION. I was treated by my opthalmologist & specialist referrals with extensive labwork & MRIs. All tests were normal. There was no specific treatment plan for my 4th nerve palsy and the double vision was exhausting as well as mentally & physically challenging. I have been dealing with a stomach ailment for over ten years. I have been to several doctors and specialists, tried the prescription regimens recommended, changed my diet, etc., (you get my drift, nearly everything else under the sun), and I was never able to find any relief; and long-term use of some of the recommended prescriptions lead to an increased risk of cognitive issues in the future. Doctor Sora Koo is amazing! I went in for acupuncture + electro therapy because I injured my ankle hiking and it seemed to be badly bruised, very sore, and had limited movement. Having it done made the healing process a thousand times quicker, and she is extremely gentle with the execution. I saw this acupuncturist five times in four weeks and each time she seemed confused and a bit bored- asking me to repeat why I was there. She placed a small disk with a smoldering herb on my back and walked away. She did not explain what the benefit of that smoking herb would be but the cinder fell off the disk when she was gone and burned me pretty badly. Six months later I still have a scar. She was also not clear about the prices for her teas and charged me a much higher price than I was originally quoted. I do not think she is very focused on helping the individual heal. I think she is satisfied with seeing patients for their allotted 12 visits covered by insurance and never seeing them again. She seemed to lack passion for her work. After reading this review, one of the owners of Cha sent me a note through yelp asking me 'not to be stupid.' Calling someone stupid is not the best way to communicate with someone. read more

Dr. Sora Lee is the best at accupuncture from my personal experience. She has a wealth of techniques that she applies to remedy any problem. I last went in for siatica pain that I had not been able to shake loose for months. I am a 47 year old male, 6'2", 170 lbs who frequents the gym. I thought excercise would take care of it over time; especially since it was my good leg, but I could not remedy it with execise alone. I'm a huge fan of this place. Years ago I got into herbal tonics the old school way where you go to an herbalist and come home with a pile of herbs and had to boil them down into a tonic yourself. The amazing thing about this place is you can get the same healing benefits of Chinese herbs just like you go to Starbucks for a latte. For $5-6 you get a single serving of one of may tonics that help with just about anything in your body. I get an "Under the weather" tonic when I am exactly that. When I know I'm going to be stuck in a plane for 5 hours I'll get a "Immune boost" before the flight. I love this place, it's a great supplement to my healthcare practices. read more

Wow. Traffic on Los Feliz Blvd. was stressing me out, so I took the Rowena Ave. detour ... while stopped @ Hyperion, I saw Cha and decided to pull in for a look. Incredible. Steve is very knowledgeable and engaging. I still can't wrap my head around tea ... I doubt I'll ever have the passion or vocabulary to properly describe any of this, but it was deliciously sublime. I think my mom and I were there for an hour, just sipping away. He served us two types of tea in the traditional style (first the leaves are steeped in a bowl, then the larger leaves are separated in a second pour, then it's filtered through a fine silk sieve into a teeny 4oz cup for your enjoyment). There are no cookies, pastries or treats, just tea. No televisions either (but there are magazines in the wait area). It's perfect. Just tea. And the knowledge of Steve, who is pretty much a walking tea encyclopedia. Please please please, go here and chill out. Don't take the tea to go. Reeeeeeeeeeeeelax and enjoy. read more

I love it but the real proof is in the remarks.. after a few months a colleague said " you just look younger and younger everytime I see you..."
