I came to Dr. Koo with a long term case of GERD that was recently exacerbated by stress. My doctors had put me on multiple antacids that I was taking constantly, yet they didn't seem to help. First off, Dr. Koo is very easy to talk to. She didn't question my use of Rx drugs or diagnoses, instead she listened attentively and asked me about recent bloodwork. This was a relief because there are natural medicine practitioners who will tell you to stop taking medicines prescribed to you. After one session I felt a great relief of stress and tension. After a week of taking herbs my symptom severity was cut in half. Now that I've finished two weeks of herbs and a few weeks of acupuncture, my symptoms have almost gone. I have been able to stop taking my antacid medications because I simply don't need them. I would highly recommend Dr. Koo's services to anyone. A note on the location: CHA Acupuncture has just recently moved and it can be a bit hard to see from the street. There is a green building with a small opening to a parking lot in the back next to it. It's right next to Brio Apartments. I'm including a pic to help out. read more

Dr. Sora Koo was very helpful with my pain caused from tendonitis from rock climbing and weight lifting. She is very kind and listened very carefully to the pain I was experiencing. Dr. Sora Koo completely healed me of my Bells Palsy. I had complete paralysis on one side of my face and after 8 session in about 2 months, my Bell's palsy had made a complete recovery. She was such a light in my life and such a joy to converse with. She was very attentive, personable and overall just a good human being. She also suggested I take some herbal medication that she provided in the first week of my healing journey which I think really helped as well. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who might be looking for an amazing acupuncturist. read more

Dr. Sora Koo is kind and patient. I started seeing her for horrible neck and shoulder pain. I got relief from the first treatment and my condition has improved dramatically. Enough so that she was able to start treating me for tendinitis on my right thumb and right foot. I look forward to seeing her. Following a car accident where I was rear-ended, Dr. Koo is an essential part of my routine. I've been a client for months, and I look forward to our sessions all week long. I've been to other acupuncturists in the past and not particularly felt they had a personal understanding of what I needed, and I also didn't feel a change from repeated sessions with other acupuncturists. After being personally referred to Dr. Koo by someone I know, I decided to give her a shot, and I'm deeply grateful for her care. I have chronic migraines and a hip and lower back issue (all the result of being rear-ended while driving), and my recovery would be completely different without Dr. Koo. The entire experience is very soothing, and also has a lasting impact. I walk out feeling like a different person each time. read more

She has a wonderful demeanor and I can't say enough about her ability to treat illness with kindness and care. Thank you Dr. Koo read more

I've been going to Cha to pick up my tea for the past couple years. If you consider yourself a genuine Chinese/Taiwanese tea enthusiast, this is an essential spot. They moved from the Broadway location in Chinatown to the corner of Hyperion and Rowena in Silverlake. What's funny is that I stopped by to find out that they were shut down in Chinatown a few hours before I stumbled upon the new location on the way back from Atwater Village, totally by chance. Steve is a very knowledgable and friendly tea guide. He can give you a unique insight into Chinese teas, which range from the many varieties of oolong to puer, the exquisite jasmines, white and green teas. Other fledgling and commercial tea shops throughout LA consult with and purchase from him. His library of teas will blow away anything that you've ever had in a Chinese restaurant. It'll be like switching up your champagne from Cook's to Dom Perignon. He also has a nice selection of fairly-priced ceramic, wood and yixing clay tea pots, cups and trays. You can catch Steve between 4pm-6pm Monday-Thursday and all day Friday and Saturday. If you have any interest in hearing the real scoop about Chinese and Taiwanese teas, do yourself a favor and head down to Cha. Ask to try the Yin Hao Xiang Pian or Dragon Pearl Jasmines or one of the Tieguanyin oolongs and be amazed. read more

I found CHA Acupuncture & Herb Clinic through a referral from a colleague of mine who is also a patient of Dr. Koo. Dr. Koo was quick to respond when I called to set up an appointment due to my wrist and ankle injuries. When I arrived, I felt a very welcoming atmosphere and was pleasantly greeted as soon as I walked in the door. Dr. Koo assessed my injuries and was able to diagnose the proper treatment right away. I noticed that she was extremely knowledgeable, thorough and skilled with her acupuncture techniques. Not only did I leave feeling fully rejuvenated, but I also felt that she had great professionalism and an appreciation for her study of oriental medicine. I can tell that Dr. Koo cares deeply about the well-being of her patients. If you're looking for an acupuncture clinic with exceptional service and care, CHA acupuncture is the place to go! I highly recommend this acupuncture clinic and I have already set up my next appointment to return. Note: there is limited parking in the plaza that it's located, however, there's a lot of street parking so it shouldn't be difficult to find parking. read more

I have been suffering from lower back pains due to my work. I have been wanting to try acupuncture for quite sometime now. Thanks to a dear friend for recommending this place! I am extremely grateful for Dr. Lee for making my first time getting acupuncture super wonderful. She was very thorough and talked to me every step of the way! Instead of feeling nervous, I felt so relaxed. It has been a couple days since my treatment and my back is already feeling soooo much better already. I am so thankful to have found Dr. Koo. I had called her on a Saturday because of my excruciating right arm pain that was nerve and muscle related. She immediately took me in with open arms and started treatment. I went to her consistently every week and each week there was absolute progress. The most important thing about her is that she listens to her patients and alters her treatment based on the clients complaint. She finds exactly where the pain is generated from and she targets those areas. She has excellent bedside manners and she is very kind. Today, I am 100 percent better thanks to Dr. Koo! I would definitely recommend her! read more

On Jan 25, 2021 I experienced sudden onset of DOUBLE VISION. I was treated by my opthalmologist & specialist referrals with extensive labwork & MRIs. All tests were normal. There was no specific treatment plan for my 4th nerve palsy and the double vision was exhausting as well as mentally & physically challenging. Desparate for a cure, I decided to seek alternative care thru acupuncture. I saw Dr Koo on Feb 22 - set up 3X a week treatment plan. I returned for follow up care with the opthalmologist specialist - my follow up 'head tilt' tests had substanitally improved from 9 to 3. I continued my sessions with Dr Koo. March 23, 2021 follow up with my opthalmosgist specialist, I was now testing at 0.05 - my double vision was gone. I plan to continue maintenance visits with Dr Koo - believing once a nerve has been compromised it needs sustaning support. I have no reservations - Dr Koo was the cure to correcting my double vision. read more

Dr. Sora is brilliant! I started going to her for facial rejuvenation 2 months ago. You see results even after the first treatment. I've been loving my results and wish I had found her sooner. If you need self-care during this time, go see Dr. Sora. She's comforting and walks you through the process easily. She also does a bit of extra by opening up your chi to balance your body with the treatment. Her treatments are the best! I would not go anywhere else. read more

I've been going to Dr. Koo for several years. I've been to her for issues both physical and emotional and a session with her leaves me feeling brand new. I have been dealing with a stomach ailment for over ten years. I have been to several doctors and specialists, tried the prescription regimens recommended, changed my diet, etc., (you get my drift, nearly everything else under the sun), and I was never able to find any relief; and long-term use of some of the recommended prescriptions lead to an increased risk of cognitive issues in the future. Not only did none of this work, but the thought of these side effects from the medication was worrisome. Over the years my pain continued to progress in frequency and intensity. Before I began any acupuncture and herbal treatments at Cha Acupuncture I had been feeling pain at least once per week. Sometimes I would get a flair up and wouldn't be able to eat for a week. Eventually, I had the time to commit to an acupuncture and herbal tea regimen by Dr. Sora. I have been undergoing treatment for this ailment at Cha Acupuncture since mid-June 2020. Dr. Sora is very professional, personable and is very accomplished. Furthermore, she CARES about her patients and truly listens to our concerns. You can feel comfortable explaining anything about your issues with Dr. Sora. She WILL listen. I always felt brushed-off by the doctors I previously visited. While I was confident the acupuncture treatment would help, I must say I was not expecting the results I've experienced so far; especially at how quickly this was achieved. After my initial consultation with Dr. Sora, she came up with a plan for me. Truthfully, and thankfully, every part of it has worked! I am nearing the end of my treatment, and I remain committed to some permanent dietary changes, and perhaps some maintenance treatments here and there, to continue this amazingly, delightful feeling of well-being. To not experience the pain I was enduring, and feeling so hopeless about ever feeling pain-free again, I cannot be more grateful to and for Dr. Sora for bringing me relief from this. I highly recommend Dr. Sora and this acupuncture clinic. You will not be disappointed. read more

Doctor Sora Koo is amazing! I went in for acupuncture + electro therapy because I injured my ankle hiking and it seemed to be badly bruised, very sore, and had limited movement. Having it done made the healing process a thousand times quicker, and she is extremely gentle with the execution. I was nervous about the pain, but she quickly diminished my fears with calming and reassuring words. After only a couple of days, I was back on my feet walking normally! I would definitely recommend Dr. Sora to anyone looking for relief through acupuncture. read more

I saw this acupuncturist five times in four weeks and each time she seemed confused and a bit bored- asking me to repeat why I was there. She placed a small disk with a smoldering herb on my back and walked away. She did not explain what the benefit of that smoking herb would be but the cinder fell off the disk when she was gone and burned me pretty badly. Six months later I still have a scar. She was also not clear about the prices for her teas and charged me a much higher price than I was originally quoted. I do not think she is very focused on helping the individual heal. I think she is satisfied with seeing patients for their allotted 12 visits covered by insurance and never seeing them again. She seemed to lack passion for her work. After reading this review, one of the owners of Cha sent me a note through yelp asking me 'not to be stupid.' Calling someone stupid is not the best way to communicate with someone. read more

My guy and I were walking by with our TJ groceries and noticed this little gem. We walked in for a quick look around and were treated to incredibly hospitable service. Steve (if I remember correctly) welcomed us and had us sit. He began teaching us all about tea. He even infused two different samples, one of which was the best green tea I've ever tasted! (At first I was surprised how much he talked without us asking questions, but he put us at ease) With our minds on dinner, we weren't in the head space to buy anything, but my shopping list includes: *1oz super delicious "long ging" green tea ($8.95) (fun fact: it was served to President Nixon during his trip to China) *2 tonics for lady energy ($6.95 X 2) *A cute little steeper mug ($12.99) (prices are from memory) Now that I know what excellent tea tastes like, I'll be back soon for more! read more

Dr. Sora Lee is the best at accupuncture from my personal experience. She has a wealth of techniques that she applies to remedy any problem. I last went in for siatica pain that I had not been able to shake loose for months. I am a 47 year old male, 6'2", 170 lbs who frequents the gym. I thought excercise would take care of it over time; especially since it was my good leg, but I could not remedy it with execise alone. One visit to Sora fixed the siatica/cramped leg problem over night. Yes, 24 hours. I am back to my old self. What a welcome relief. Thank you Doctor Lee. read more

"I started going to this beautifull tea house for acupunture last year. Dr Lee did an excellent job in diagnosing my problems. She is really calming and professional and cares about giving her patients first rate care. She even distills her own herbal medicine, which by the way, is hard to swallow but just do it. I always feel much better after seeing her. Glad to know that the new office will be walking distance from my home, even the old location was beautiful place. read more

I'm a huge fan of this place. Years ago I got into herbal tonics the old school way where you go to an herbalist and come home with a pile of herbs and had to boil them down into a tonic yourself. The amazing thing about this place is you can get the same healing benefits of Chinese herbs just like you go to Starbucks for a latte. For $5-6 you get a single serving of one of may tonics that help with just about anything in your body. I get an "Under the weather" tonic when I am exactly that. When I know I'm going to be stuck in a plane for 5 hours I'll get a "Immune boost" before the flight. I love this place, it's a great supplement to my healthcare practices. read more

Dr. Lee's acupuncture treatments have cured my insomnia, significantly reduced the pain I experienced after a major car accident and just last week, I went in with very low energy and the following day, I felt almost new again. Wow. Traffic on Los Feliz Blvd. was stressing me out, so I took the Rowena Ave. detour ... while stopped @ Hyperion, I saw Cha and decided to pull in for a look. Incredible. Steve is very knowledgeable and engaging. I still can't wrap my head around tea ... I doubt I'll ever have the passion or vocabulary to properly describe any of this, but it was deliciously sublime. I think my mom and I were there for an hour, just sipping away. He served us two types of tea in the traditional style (first the leaves are steeped in a bowl, then the larger leaves are separated in a second pour, then it's filtered through a fine silk sieve into a teeny 4oz cup for your enjoyment). There are no cookies, pastries or treats, just tea. No televisions either (but there are magazines in the wait area). It's perfect. Just tea. And the knowledge of Steve, who is pretty much a walking tea encyclopedia. Please please please, go here and chill out. Don't take the tea to go. Reeeeeeeeeeeeelax and enjoy. read more
