If you don't bring them in more money they let people go because of that, or if you even question their work and just want to understand. Don't even get me started with their ridiculous website for sending documents to them. Just a horrible experience with this company. They don't like you to question anything. Would not recommend them at all to any business.

After weeks of radio silence, we got an email from her at the end of March saying she'd run into an unexpected illness and that another woman would be completing our taxes. She did provide us with the contact information for the other firm. To date (yes, it is 4/14), we have not heard anything from either Andrea or the other person. We have left multiple voice messages and sent multiple emails. We'll be filling complaints with the IRS since we'll have to file extensions as well. While I'm empathetic to illness, this is demonstrative of a total failure in business planning and management of the situation as a whole has been worse than poor. Do not recommend.

This is my third year using Coet and Coet for my business and personal taxes and I cannot say…read moreenough good things about them. They are not the least expensive accounting firm in the area, but they more than earn back their fee in the time, money and stress that they save you. Fran is very meticulous and attentive to detail while still being very warm and easy to work with, and their entire process is laid out for you in an electronic organizer that they provide, so that you know if you're missing any documents that they need to prepare your return. Additionally, if you have a corporation, I highly recommend having Coet2 prepare your quarterly payroll and year-end corporate taxes. These seem like a small thing, but accounting is my most hated business task and payroll taxes used to cause me a lot of problems. Coet2's staffer Barb Arnold now handles everything for me and has completely streamlined my payroll process at a very reasonable cost. In addition, no one at Coet2 ever pushes the additional services that they offer, but they are there if you need them (QuickBooks classes, financial planning, etc.). Highly recommended, and I have dealt with 4 accountants over the life of my business, so I have a good basis to offer a recommendation.

Buyer Beware I…read morecannot recommend this accountant. I hired her for tax preparation. Although she functioned as a tax return preparer only, in the course of serving my annual needs she gratuitously recommended a retirement plan strategy which I adopted. Another provider set up the retirement plan and this is not the complaint. For every tax year after adoption the CPA was provided with the written account statement data related to retirement plan assets--the same data that would be required for tax return preparation. Notwithstanding, Mary Gallagher did not mention to me that another annual return of retirement plan information needed to be filed with the IRS (annual Form 5500-EZ). The delinquency of this return information led to an IRS penalty for failure to file the 5500-EZ on time. The primary issue with this CPA is the quality and consistency of her guidance--on the one hand, she provided the gratuitous tax advice dispensed here but, at the same time, she dropped the ball when it came to the necessary follow-up which is pointing out to her client the need to prepare and timely file the annual 5500-EZ, especially when all information necessary to the completion and filing of the 5500-EZ was supplied to her for regular income tax return preparation. This amounts to inconsistent care for her client. When I brought it to her attention and asked her to take responsibility for it, she refused and cited an engagement letter that excused her own culpability for failure to at least follow-up with me in connection with advice provided previously. After all, she is the one who recommended the retirement plan itself! If the advice to adopt the retirement plan was gratuitous then follow-up details about annual information return preparation and filing should have been supplied, as well. A reliable and competent CPA should provide accurate technical guidance. Unfortunately, that was not my experience with Mary Gallagher CPA, LLC. Business owners and individuals should look elsewhere for dependable and competent tax representation.

When I moved from CA to CO, I had to take on the daunting task of replacing my kickbutt business…read moreaccountant and a bookkeeper that was not doing the greatest job. And let me tell you, the search for a new one in Colorado was not a fun process. Most of the firms I reached out to (1) never responded, (2) were fully booked, or (3) were far from professional. Tricia and her team were a breath of fresh air -- responding to my inquiry quickly, jumping on a call with me right away to learn more about my needs and whether they could meet them, and creating a custom proposal based on what kind of assistance I was looking for. I've been working with the team since Jan 2019 and they have been an absolute delight. My bookkeeping is done in a timely manner, books are done correctly (finally!) and my complicated taxes were not as stressful as they could have been thanks to O'Connor & Co. Most importantly, I have a team who has their eye on the big picture and helps me strategize ways to improve finances and save on taxes...something I appreciate as a business owner. As an added bonus, Tricia and her team have actually made the process fun, something I would have never put on my list of must-have criteria. If you're searching for a great team to handle your business' bookkeeping and taxes, look no further. O'Connor & Co will exceed your expectations and provide a breath of fresh air in a rather tired industry that often forgets about customer experience.

I fancy myself "smart" from time to time, and more than once I've researched Tricia's recommendations to make sure I was getting good advice. I've always been happy. 2. Knowledge does not come cheap. If you're looking for some CPA to do some data entry at tax time (basically, following the prompts from some piece of software like the clowns at the mall kiosks), move along. Tricia is not for you. If you're a small business owner trying to navigate a business entity classification + a marriage + a home sale + some investment tax issues + an interstate move - and do all of this via phone and email while you're traveling on your extended honeymoon - this is who you want. 3. Speaking of the IRS, Tricia is ethical, but she works to minimize your bill. I've never felt uneasy with anything, but I've also never felt like we left money on the table. In years passed, I've done the 'tax kiosk' thing and missed deductions/credits. Never again. 4. She's fun. I enjoy talking to her. She's got great energy, and she's passionate about her job. I admire that, considering I'm about as passionate about tax time as I am about dental surgery. So, there you have it. Happy customer since 2008, and Tricia is the only person I call when I need tax advice/help. NOTE: I see someone else reviewed Tricia and said she was expensive, and here's my counter: Saving a couple hundred bucks doesn't appeal to me when a mistake can cost thousands.
