I really love this place. The first time meeting the staff and instructors was a complete pleasure. everyone was inviting and involved. The students were attentive and ready and truly having a great time and on top of all of that learning from very skilled individuals and taking care of business. . . If you're looking for just somewhere to goof off, keep looking! This is REAL martial arts and fitness.

They do a whole week free trial and the kids program always looks like a good time! Coming here from training at several other schools this place stood out for their wonderful community and positive way of coaching. Plus Professor Vanessa leads an absolutely amazing women's team and program - if you're a woman looking to get into BJJ there's no better place to learn the sport than among a whole team of supportive women! Anyone looking to train and uncertain feel free to add me as a friend and message me with any questions.

He's a ball full of energy, all the time, and I wanted him to get enrolled in an after school activity to siphon some of that off, and make friends. Three years later, I've also enrolled, and now we're learning together. I didn't know much about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) other than it was used in UFC, I've never done a martial art, and I've never been athletic. The best part is that none of that matters, you only need to bring the will to learn and curiosity to try, and the rest will fall into place. BJJ is a unique martial art unlike any other, and we're lucky to have such a high caliber of instruction in Colorado Springs. As a martial art, it's exciting and has great self-defense techniques, as a sport, it's thought-provoking and a fantastic work out, and as a lifestyle, it stirs emotions and inspiration, pushing you to achieve what you never knew you were capable of. Professor Bryan is an extremely humble, knowledgeable, and energetic teacher who I have seen transform the lives of kids and adults for the better. When you enroll, you aren't just getting classes, you are joining a school and a community with coaches and fellow classmates that cares for one another and is invested in everyone's development to reach their maximum potential. I've had more fun as an adult then I've had in years. My son and I have met wonderful people we're glad to call friends. This is a vibrant, diverse school that deserves a special place in the Colorado Springs culture. You can try a week for free, and once you do, you'll wish you signed up sooner.

Peak Krav Maga trains locals in Krav Maga - an Israeli martial art. From the moment I started training, I began learning defenses I could use should I find myself in a situation where I need to defend myself. I went for my first class (back in June of 2009) and it was free (everyones first class is free!). I went to one more and then I was ready to commit to learning this style. They offer very competitive pricing and packages for 1, 2, 3 people, familys and more! They do have classes for kids and adults, and most of the offered classes are available during convenient times. The best thing is that the instructors encourage everyone to take each class at their own pace and always hang out to address questions students have after class. After many months of going 4 days per week, I feel I am in much better shape than when I started (I didn't even make it through my very first class), I have tested to level 2 and am just about ready for level 3 testing, and I feel if I have to defend myself I would be able to do so in a smart and efficient manner. Oh, and I lost a good bit of weight! I highly recommend this if you are looking for a good way to get or stay fit, or if you are looking for a good self defense martial art. You can check out events and hours at their website - http://www.peakkravmaga.com

I was a chronic fitness quitter until I found Krav Maga, the teachers here do a great job of keeping classes fresh and challenging. If you decide to try it out the first class is free and it's sure to get your blood pumping no matter what your current fitness level - the instructors stress that each individual should work to their own fitness level (good advice if you're out of shape like I was). As for what's taught, Krav Maga isn't like your typical martial art... you will be hitting something in every class, there is a reasonable amount of physical contact (they go to great lengths to train safely, the only rule is 'don't get hurt'). There aren't really any forms or Kata, just a set of guiding principles and straight forward combatives. i could probably go on for pages about how much I love Krav Maga, come to this place and give it a try. Oh, and they have some kids classes too, haven't tried those.

Up until about 3 1/2 months ago, I thought it was the best dojo in the world, because it really was great. Sensei Kaz was dedicated, kind, disciplined, fun but strict when needed. He was the best instuctor you could possibly ask for. About 3 1/2-4ish months ago, right before a tournament, the masters stripped him of his position at the dojo. They moved him away and stripped one of his belt ranks and replaced him with Master Clark's daughter. They did this with no explanation to the parents or the students and when asked they said that Sensei Kaz was doing "advanced training" at the Northgate dojo, but it has been over 3 months and he still is not back. I thought that would be the end of it, but it wasn't. At the tournament, I saw Sensei Kaz looking worse than I had ever seen him, sad, lonely, and missing a belt rank and his instructors uniform. For no reason whatsoever, he was stripped of his certification, his dojo, and a belt rank. To add insult to injury, Sensei Hannah, the woman who took over for Sensei Kaz, made multiple changes to the dojo, disrupting students routine. She canceled the demonstration team at the dojo, she canceled the instructor program where students get to shadow and learn the process of being an instructor, she combined the teens and adults classes on Saturday, and she completely changed the class structure. Not only that, but she also made multiple price increases. Needless to say, I am switching dojo's and would no longer recommend Z. It used to be a great dojo, but now it has turned into a money farm and a belt factory. They used to prioritize students, now they prioritize a quick buck and it all changed in a week, surely shows how much they care about the well-being of their students. If you value proper training, useable skills, and earning your belts, I do not recommend. If you want to pay an arm and a leg for basic training plus an extra fee for belt tests just so that you can be pumped through with everyone else to increase another persons profit, then go right ahead and sign up. So sad to say this because Z really was the best part of my life for so long, but none of the instructors at that dojo care anymore, the only of who gave a crap about the students was Sensei Kaz and he was removed for just that. If you do choose to sign a contract with Z, good luck. By the way, Sensei Hannah is not the problem, she is actually verry nice, a little annoying with the amount of times she calls about minute things, but nice. It's the way the dojo in general is treating people, including their long standing instructors.

I met front desk staff named Tom and asked if he was the new manager. He said the women beside him was now the club manager and she listened as he introduced her. He proceeded to tell me it was above his pay grade if I could return on the 12th due to complicated billing cycle on the 17th. So I came back in today (16th) and Tom said my membership doesn't renew until tomorrow and had to leave. Was surprised after being a member for 8 years that he made an issue out of 1 day after being gone over 3 months. Mr. North's demeaning attitude and lack of interest in trying to help me were unpleasant, and I cancelled my membership due to how he treated me. The club manager was not present this time but she overheard his previous comments the first time.
