Michael's approach is practical, emphasizing how to perform daily physical tasks more efficiently while breathing so as to have more energy, less discomfort, greater strength, flexibility and balance. Fellow students are welcoming, and he's cultivated a loyal following. He's not pretentious, he's genuine and he consistently teaches within the Harvard Medical School's Guide to Tai Chi. I have struggled with severe lower back pain for 30+ years from a fractured vertebra,…read morespondylolisthesis and herniated disc. I've had discectomy surgery, 18 mos of PT, massage and stretching and still pop NSAIDs almost every day to get to sleep and maintain my sanity. The constant pain impacts my ability to sit for long periods of time and affects my mood and limits activities. As a last resort and after a friend recommended me to try to Satya, I did. After the first group class, I decided yoga probably wasn't for me and then Amanda introduced me to her yoga stretch 1:1 session. So far, this has been the only thing that has had a more lasting impact without traditional medical intervention. The stretches activate the small, weak and frozen muscles in the lower back, pelvis, hips and buttocks that are not actively used and stretched in traditional stretching and PT strengthening. I've had a few days here and there where my pain has dropped to 1-2 / 10. This is only after 4 weeks, so I'm going to keep going to see if I can get off the pain killers altogether and to a less painful existence. Thank you, Amanda!

Everyone is welcome to be part of the growing community at 3T- from little ones in the Tiny Tigers program all the way to adults. Instructors are exceptional at teaching a variety of styles and offer specialized classes in weapons, sparring, and Tai Chi. While these are wicked skills to acquire, instructors also center the tenets of leadership, responsibility, and personal growth. My daughter started as a freshman in high school. I was inspired to see each student's confidence grow not only in the martial arts, but in personal character as well. Going through the ranks, my initially shy daughter eventually earned her first-degree black belt and found a place in a community that she is still part of past college. After seeing the transformation in my daughter, I even decided to give it a try. Much to my surprise, I found so much joy in participating myself developing martial arts skills, exercising with a purpose and enjoying the community of 3-T. And more importantly how to keep myself safe in dangerous alterations. As I get better with techniques I plan to get more into martial arts and self defense. I had a Groupon and tried them out for a month early in 2022. I joined them as a level 2 (orange…read morebelt) from another krav maga school that had to close down for a couple of months to relocate and I didn't want to lose momentum during the break. Pros: The instruction at KMSC was solid, the other students were nice, the facility was well maintained and had lots of toys (kickbags, padded walls, gear, etc.). Cons: 3 issues that helped me decide not to do a second month while I was waiting on my primary school to relocate. 1 - I got a bad vibe from one of the business owner's who tried to pressure me to sign up for the next month on my first night (before my first class) in order to lock in the best rate. 2 - They allow too many students to sign up for a given class. For the more popular class times, there were several nights that month where we couldn't do the full technique we were being instructed because there wasn't enough mat space which defeats the purpose. 3 - This school has a strict "no shoe" policy on the mats... which sounds good on paper, but it's KRAV MAGA... we are grabbing, grapling, sweating on each other, etc. I played along and went bare foot like the rest of the students and I got a mild rash on my foot. Nothing major and it cleared up quickly, but I would rather role around on sneaker mats than go barefoot on other people's sweat. At my other school, we kept our sneakers on. That may sound gross at first, but think on this: gas pumps and door knobs are dirtier than toilet seats... you really think the bottom of your shoes are cleaner than your partner's hands that they are using to grab your face? Fortunately, my first school has recently re-opened, so I'm happy to be going back there. KMSC is not terrible, but just not for me. So... do with that what you will.
