Firstly, let me explain what this place is. You walk in and see a lovely little café, with cakes…read moreetc and tables looking out. Then behind that are grown men and children meticulously painting war tanks, soldiers and other battle figurines. Say what? Yes, this is the place where you can get your warhammer on. Next to the 'war tables' (Is it clear yet that I don't play?) is the shop section where you can buy the paint and more soldiers, trees, cannons, etc. Now, what was I doing here again? Oh yes, the coffee is VERY GOOD and SUPER CHEAP! This is by far the nicest cheapest coffee you're going to get in Edinburgh. And the cakes are great and cheap too. After finishing our coffee, me and my boyfriend had a peruse through the shop bit, looking for the lost boardgame (we do love boardgames), but alas, it was all wargames and related type stuff! You might now think, why is she adding and reviewing this place?... it was some really great coffee guys!! And what's more, the atmosphere in the place seemed amazing, so I would recommend this to all my friends who play warhammer or are interested in starting it.

This branch of Game is pretty much like every other - they sell games for all major consoles and…read morePCS, as well as controllers and headsets and so on. They also sell a few pieces of game-related merchandise like t-shirts and credit for online stores. They'll run pre-orders, sometimes with offers or bonuses, for major releases, which is handy if you're worried that something will end up out of stock by 11am on the day of release. By my guess, around half of the stock is new and half is pre-owned. It's worth keeping an eye on the offers available for both, as they often have promotions like two games for £30. In my experience, the pre-owned games are absolutely fine and usually a good bargain. This would be a three star review, but the staff here are brilliant. They really know their stuff and are super helpful.

While it is slightly annoying having to travel 26 miles to buy a video game, a positive is that Fort Kinnaird is massive and I will be able to mooch around the other shops afterwards. This store in particular is one of my favourite Games as it is always well stocked with Nintendo, XBOX and Playstation games, as well as a small range of novelty clothing for those diehards out there. They also stock Yu Gi Oh and Pokémon cards too if you prefer to play cards with your mates and not stare at a screen with your mates. The staff are helpful and are very smart, seeming to know a lot about the games on sale. Except on one occasion I enquired about the Wii U and was left alone for ages while the person went into the back room to ask about it, never coming back. I am excited for the release of the new Pokémon games and I will probably be the first person in line for when the store opens on November 23rd! xD But anyway, Game is a good shop for those video game nerds among us and I hope it never leaves its post here at Fort Kinnaird.

They used to be more of an Argos-style store with catalogue ordering and take-your-form-to-the-counter service, but some years ago they began opening larger stores with a great selection of budget consumer electronics on display. They're great if you're looking for extension cords, phones and accessories, computer bits and bobs, and obscure branded electronic thingamibobs. They're especially good around Xmas as they always have some bizarre electronic toy that's just perfect for your 8-year-old nephew or the other geek in your life. Sometimes they don't have the item you want in store (as happened to me today), but they're more than happy to order it up for you and it will be delivered to your home at no extra charge. I do find them a bit overpowering sometimes as they always seem to have a surfeit of staff who hover around you asking if they can assist every couple of minutes, which wears thin very quickly with me, especially as this is the kind of shop I like to circumambulate several times whilst waiting for inspiration to strike if I've got a particular project in mind but I'm not sure what I need (which is most of the time when I'm in here!)
