Haven't seen one of those since I was five, and since retro gaming has come back in a major way, some priveleged person will make good use of this machine. Gamesmasters really was like going back to gaming stores of the 90s. It has some of the most obscure offerings from PS1, SNES, Sega Saturn and the N64 to name but a few, all for around a fiver. It had the biggest collection of old rarities I've seen since they were the cutting edge technology. Some of the SNES games were still in their boxes, not looking 20+ years old in the least. I used to be a big gamer back in the days where I was a quiet, reserved young lady, but I've got to admit I haven't moved with the times. Places like this really excite me because I get nostalgic and they appeal to the platform, 2D level of gaming I'm still stuck at. But for people who have moved on to those new fangled Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed type dealios, they also have a lot of reaosnably priced second hand copies for the PS3, XBox and Wii. Absolutely rammed with games from the past 3 dacadees, this place is immensely resourceful, cheap and packed full of rare finds. I will be going back for Castlevania 2 and might get my beau to train me on the joys of those PS3 crazy games. Amazing!

Next to the 'war tables' (Is it clear yet that I don't play?) is the shop section where you can buy the paint and more soldiers, trees, cannons, etc. Now, what was I doing here again? Oh yes, the coffee is VERY GOOD and SUPER CHEAP! This is by far the nicest cheapest coffee you're going to get in Edinburgh. And the cakes are great and cheap too. After finishing our coffee, me and my boyfriend had a peruse through the shop bit, looking for the lost boardgame (we do love boardgames), but alas, it was all wargames and related type stuff! You might now think, why is she adding and reviewing this place?... it was some really great coffee guys!! It's a place where you can trade in games, DVDs, mobile phones and other electronic equipment. They also sell all of these things, with some great prices. You could spend £10 and come out with a lot of things if you hunt hard enough. People will so often discredit buying pre-owned items, but for prices as low as those offered by Cex, it's difficult to say no! This time, I just popped in for a browse, though I will be visiting there next time I want a cheap film or the like. I wonder how long it will be before someone trades in an iPhone 4? Some of them are neatly arranged but the majority of stuff feels haphazardly stacked or piled on top of older, dustier stuff. As the title implies, there's also crates and crates of well played 45s, 33s, tapes and DVDs. Prices are rock bottom and whilst lots of it could be categorised as bad or forgotten pop, rock, blues or classical, there are some classics from Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, The Kinks, The Who and The Beatles if you're prepared to dig hard enough.

I get the impression that the managers and staff here are completely on the ball and much more customer friendly than their counterparts in other stores. We were even approached by a guy working here who was super friendly and asked us if we needed any help - something I've never experienced in any other Game shop where you usually just get looked at like an imbecile if you ask any kind of question. This is a pretty large branch, they have a great selection of games and a lot of pre-owned ones at reasonable prices. There was a titanic mystery game that caught my eye but I also noticed possibly the worst game ever made, an OK! DS game that is essentially just an electronic version of the shittest magazine ever.
