Great service. We shared a shrimp cocktail and I personally enjoyed a tostada with fish ceviche. Customers kept coming in and out which is a great sign. read more

Sat down and told to leave because they were closing randomly. Cevi Chelas 2 location.

I was hungover thinking this place would cure me with their seafood and instead it disappointed me. The ceviche was horrible it doesn't taste like lime at all. The shrimp cocktail was horrible with no flavor. My wife got the soup and had no flavor at all either. Now I'm at home eating a cereal. read more

Tried this new little place. The hubs ordered a michelada. It included a big shrimp for $7.95. The Coronas were $3. I really liked that they give you a complimentary ceviche tortilla chip. The chips they use are really good. We got a few snacks: ceviche tostadas, octopus lettuce wrap, and shrimp cocktail. The shrimp cocktail was tasty. I wasn't a fan of the octopus it was too chewy. The ceviche was tasty but it's made with tilapia:/ most restaurants will use Basa which is worse. Yuck! The good thing is that they offer an upgrade to flounder for $1. Most places don't have this option so props to Cevi Chelas. read more

Pretty misleading place. There is a sign on the wall that says "famous flounder ceviche" and when I asked the cashier, he said they make their ceviche with tilapia..yep! Paid almost $15 for their Large ceviche cup filled with tilapia! Absurd! Stick to Ceviche Ceviche where they make theirs with mahi!..yes mahi! Nothing special about their ambience.. read more

This place is awesome! It's clean! The owner's are friendly! And they give people samples!! Toppings such as jicama, radishes, mango are available to add to the various ceviches available. Parking is easy. They have free wi-fi. A/C works VERY good, which is a huge plus. They serve beer (glass bottle), home-made lemonade and Mexican sodas. It's a must place! read more

Vuelve la Vida cocktail = The Taste of the Ocean. Best seafood cocktails in the valley at a great price. Not a fancy place, rather small with about 8-10 tables. Open kitchen so you can see the fresh seafood used to make your cocktails. Cold beer and HOT habanero sauce. Service is really good and owner is super friendly. If you like seafood cocktails you must try this one. read more

Cevi Chelas - Vuelve la Vida Seafood Cocktail! AMAZING! - Seafood Near Me - Brownsville, Texas

The shrimp cocktail was sweet, the shrimp was not fresh. Ceviche was tasteless. Michelada was poorly made.

This place was worth our drive to Brownsville, and if you are staying in South Padre Island, come get their massive portions of fresh seafood made on the spot. They started us off with samples -delish- and we proceeded to order shrimp, octopus and mixto ceviche and tostadas. The 4 Botana Campechana Ceviche large plate was too much to eat for four people, we like that. It's a small place in a strip mall, and service was quite slow for a late (2pm) Monday lunch, but we were on vacation and the food just blew our minds. read more

Wow. First time here. The ceviche is excellent. We ordered the platter for 3 to share and it was plenty. The restaurant is clean and service is good. Best thing about this restaurant, only a few things on the menu and it's all so fresh! read more

Hands Down, The BEST MICHELADAS IN ToWN!! A Truely Authentic Flavor of the Tropics!!! They married the essential ingredients that seemingly were meant for each other... Ice Cold Micheladas, Fantastic selections of Lemon-Marinated Ceviche, & Fresh Ocean Caught Botanas!!! Very Friendly and Accommodating! You'll find very different styles of Ceviches, an assortment of Micheladas, their famous 1 to 2 lbs of seafood in their large bowls of "Sopas de Marisco", as well as other items on the menu. You can expect everything from the Michelada mixes to cocktail sauces to be made from Scratch, Fresh on site! It simply doesn't get any closer to the real-deal than Cevi Chelas! read more

I was under the impression it was a build your own ceviche, which it was not. I ordered ceviche and it was fish and not shrimp. The tostada chips were incredibly salty. The ceviche lacked any real flavor with i don't know what ingredients. read more

Great shrimp cocktail, awesome seafood soup. Fish and crab will be one of regular stops.

Been coming to the RGV for a while and this is one of the first seafood places I have tried. The front may be a little deceiving. The staff are friendly and prompt. The food itself is super fresh. Had the shrimp ceviche with the mango and it was delicious! I also tasted the regular shrimp cocktail and no disappointment there. Definitely coming back when in the area. read more

Cevi Chelas - Menu - Seafood Near Me - Brownsville, Texas

The beers were awfully expensive and the food subpar at best. The ambiance was non existent and cheap in every aspect of the word. I ordered a ceviche to go and when I got there I asked to get beer and I was told that was possible but was grossly overcharged. The food really had nothing special about it. read more

This place rocks! Their seafood is so good and fresh! We had the ceviche, vuelve a la vida and micheladas and everything was delicious! Place is very small and it's busy all the time so make sure to have time when you go. I will definitely go back! read more

We decided on a last minute trip to SPI and arrived hungry in Brownsville, TX. Checking out the local flavor brought us to this hidden 'gem' located in a nondescript location. What a find! Awesome ceviche & shrimp cocktail! A cold beer topped off one of my better dining experiences at a hole in the wall. Must try, if you want to sample both, is the Campechana Botana X2 which was more than enough for both the hubby & me. It comes with chili cucumbers which are delish & refreshing! A must do when in Brownsville! read more

Very unhappy with the fact that the Mexican Coke was not the export...The exported Mexican Coke is the only one that still has Cane Sugar rather than High Fructose Corn Syrup. I didn't like that I was charged $2.50 for Mexican Coke that they bought in Mexico... read more

Today was my first visit, of course I should've done this review when I was there. But when I say I felt overwhelmed with the amount of ceviche I received and the TASTE. Boy was it good, even though it's a tiny space to eat and enjoy but the food does make up for it. The service is impecable. If you're very hesitant to try something new, this place is one to try and not be afraid. The kind lady behind the serving area offered samples of your liking to see what was your interest. They also made good suggestions as to what was popular items. The portions also were big, way more than expected but worth every penny, not pricey at all. read more
