I've been going to Drybar for over 10 years -- starting at the original West Hollywood location. I also travel frequently to Charleston for work and have always trusted this location with my hair. That trust ended during my most recent visit. After my hair was washed, the stylist suddenly stepped away, and three different employees came over to examine my head as if I were some kind of spectacle. I have extensions, and I disclosed that -- as the booking system requires -- but at no point does Drybar's app or policy state that clients with extensions will be refused service or treated differently. They told me my hair was "matted," which I explained I could easily brush out. I even suggested air-drying and curling the ends if needed. Instead of working with me, they walked away, came back, and informed me that they "could no longer do my hair." At this point, my hair was completely wet, and it was very cold outside. To make matters worse, they told me I wasn't even allowed to blow-dry my own hair because it was "unsanitary." I've never heard anything more ridiculous in a salon. No one offered help, empathy, or even basic discretion. I was left embarrassed, singled out, and humiliated in front of the entire room. The next day, I saw another stylist elsewhere who confirmed my hair was not nearly as bad as they claimed. The staff kept blaming "new ownership" and "new policies," yet none of these supposed policies are posted anywhere on the Drybar website or app. If this is truly how they treat customers under new ownership, it's a major red flag. I walked out feeling deeply embarrassed and disrespected. After over a decade of loyalty to Drybar -- in multiple cities -- I will never return to any location again. When I called to discuss the person on the phone said no one was there to remedy the situation. She said she would get back to me before the end of the day and she did not. My daughter was totally taken advantage of and this was very unethical. They advertise transparency on their website but that was definitely not our experience. Buyer beware. Very disappointed in their lack of attention to make this right. Instead a received a text saying that she consulted my daughter before doing the root smudge. Never were these words used and never did Rylie tell her this was an additional cost to whatever she supposedly did. Her hair doesn't even look different from when she went it. Crooks.

I scheduled an updo from 11:00-12:00 and mineral makeup from 12:00-12:30, planning to be in my dress by 1:30 for a formal event. I explained clearly what I wanted for the updo, but the stylist admitted she didn't know how to do it and began watching YouTube tutorials to figure it out. After several failed attempts, I ended up with a loose, braided style that I could already feel falling apart. It was now after 12:30, and I hadn't even started my makeup. Even though I had booked my makeup with the owner, she began working on someone else's hair and passed me off to someone clearly inexperienced. All I got was a quick base of foundation before I had to leave at 1:15--with no finished hairstyle and no completed makeup. I paid for services I didn't receive, and all the owner offered was 50% off. I had to rush to throw on my dress and completely redo my hair and makeup myself in 15 minutes just to look halfway presentable. Absolutely unacceptable. Don't waste your money or risk your special day here.
