I was scheduled to take a certification exam at RIRAL Testing Center in Woonsocket, RI on Saturday,…read moreSeptember 14, 2024 at 9:00 AM. On my Meazure Learning Scheduling Confirmation Notice (Admission Ticket), the reporting time was 08:45 AM. I arrived in the parking lot about 8:35 AM. There were plenty of parking spots. Around 8:40 AM, I headed into the building and took the elevator up to the 4th Floor. I followed the signs to RIRAL Testing Center. The proctor was helping someone at the moment so she told me to go to the waiting room. The waiting room was 2 doors down. Once the proctor was ready for the next check-in, she went to the waiting room to grab the next person. I submitted my confirmation notice to the proctor. She checked my current, government-issued photo identification (ID) with signature (driver's license), verified the exam I was taking, verified I was not permitted to have any reference items, let me choose a locker to put my car keys in, asked me to roll up my jeans to show my ankle and asked to see my ears, and then walked me to the exam room. She inputted some information in the computer and then I was off to take the exam. The proctor informed me that the room is being recorded, raise my hand if I have any questions, and wished me luck. During the exam, she would walk in and see how we were doing. After submitting my exam, I got up and the proctor returned to shut down the computer. I checked out and grabbed my car keys from the locker. There were about 7 other people taking their exam with me, but each cubicle is spacious. Taking the electronic exam at RIRAL Testing Center was seamless from parking, checking-in, and checking-out with the proctor. The desktop and keyboard were good. I didn't use the restroom, but the restroom was by the elevators and a key needs to be used.

I took a basic welding class to make a barn star at the Garrison Speed Shop in Mendon,…read moreMassachusetts. I have never welded before or used some of the tools and equipment required. The template pieces were all laid out, but that was it. Co-founder Luke had me read and sign all the releases first, and asked about my experience with welding etc. Being a Veteran myself, Luke as well, and the non-profit supporting Veterans and First Responders, he also made sure to ask me if loud noises or anything would bother me. Every step was explained and demonstrated before I was able to do it, and as nervous as I was at first, it quickly went away knowing he took my safety, the safety of others as well as their shop very seriously. Co-founder Ben also provided some muscle when I was unable to bend the metal myself. In just over 2 hours I had sanded, measured, re-measured, bent , hammered and welded together a really cool one of a kind 5-sided barn star. It was definitely something different to do and it was a really cool and fun experience. 5 stars !

We're talking manuals, a stand, the motion sensor, nunchucks, everything. My best guy, who is a game chasing nerd got an NES R.O.B. here. Dunno why this Savers ends up with so many great items, but it's a delight! I highly suggest coming here early, as it is always jamming at this location, even the drop off spot usually has a line to make donations.

Their staff photographer sent me photos of my class before I even got home, confirming that they had the proper model releases to be able to do so and hadn't taken photos of anyone who didn't want them taken. They also sent me home with two tote bags designed and printed in house, one of which all the students in the workshop signed in henna :) What a great experience. Thanks for having me, Riverzedge!
