Because we had a lovely experience at the Ceramic Shop 16 years ago in Sóller, Mallorca, we wanted to relive that moment in history and bring home handmade items. For my daily dinnerware, I keep things neutral. But when it comes to serving platters and want to add some fun to the table for entertaining gatherings, I'm somewhat obsessed with colorful ceramics.
Ceramic Shop is more than a super amazing outdoor place filled to the gills with traditional Mallorcan kitchen wares, serving platters, ceramic floor lanterns, etc. AND you receive a cup of fresh squeezed oj as soon as you arrive.
This is one of those shops where you need to do a few laps before you feel like you have seen it all. Paquita(?) the owner has tons of nooks displaying her ceramics.
I normally travel with my overhead and under-seat bag- but I intentionally traveled with my check-in luggage since I knew I was coming here to bring with me quite a bit. Do know that the owner used to ship. She'd guarantee that all of her ceramics leave her studio in perfect condition ready to mail- but on two separate occasions, they rendered broken ceramics through transit- so she discontinued that option. It's hard to leave this place empty handed- plus prices are incredible. If you have a hour or so, be sure to freely roam around. read more
