Upon returning the furniture, almost a year later he proceeded to tell us he would not recommend sitting in the furniture because it may not hold. I told him if I had known this I would not have had him do any of the work, which I also told him not to do. After i complained he changed his tune to say it would be okay to sit in. The frame and woodwork on these chairs was in very good condition, but the upholstery was a tapestry look that was worn and had tears. I wanted these chairs to be renewed but without destroying their late 1800s character. I opted for a green velvet. I was confident that Mary would take good care of these chairs when she saw them and got excited about the restoration. These chairs turned out beautiful - Mary restored the springs, batting and straps to preserve the firm but comfortable seating. The velvet and piping work are beautiful.
