I tried this place based on the recommendation from some of the locals. Walking in, this is a place…read morethat only a local could love. It's not a large establishment; mainly you had the bar, some tables and a couple of games. It was dark, dank and honestly it looked like it could use a good cleaning, but I'm afraid if someone did try to clean in there, it would just make things fall apart. The building, furnishings and equipment are all in need of repair or maintenance. The padded arm rest along the edge of the granite looking laminate bar is cracked, peeling and torn leaving holes that expose the stuffing. It was uncomfortable resting against it because the edges of the vinyl were dry and would poke into the skin on my arm. The service was kind of off. There was only one bartender when I was in. It was decently busy and I think she handled all of the tables too. I really wasn't paying attention so I'm not sure, but she would disappear for a while leaving me beerless. Even at the end when we said we were ready to go, she was slow getting the check to us and then collecting the payment. Their special was tacos. The price was good, and they tasted fine. I don't think they were as great as some of the other people in the bar raved over them, but I've definitely had worse in a bar setting. I wouldn't go out of my way for them.

Oh my goodness, how to describe Spanky's...it is quite simply an old fashioned hallway tavern…read more Popcorn machine (free) by the jukebox, men's and ladies rooms are from another time...complete with retro condom dispensers. A couple dart boards, a few big screens in the corners and behind the bar, which spans almost the entire length of the place. 6 or 7 stool height booths along other side of wall with one made for larger groups by the kitchen window. Here's the kicker...great food and very friendly staff. Order anything, it is awesome. Friends of mine swear by the fish fry. Homemade egg rolls once a week too. It hasn't changed much in the 30 years I've been there...but why bother changing a good thing?

Ah, good old Cub and Spanks…read more.. Now I've only been coming here for the past couple of months, but they fulfill a couple of requirements I require in a bar. 1) cheap drinks. And I don't mean this place is the kind of establishment that serves drinks in red solo cups, they serve them in regular plastic tumbler cups, and they're not bottom shelf garbage liquids either. A Jameson and Ginger ale will set you back a whopping $4. I feel like I'm stealing from the bar when I drink here! This is a good thing. 2) conversational level of crowd noise. This place has never been so loud that I couldn't hear the person I was sitting with, granted, we haven't come here on a Friday or Saturday night, so consider that the asterisk. I prefer a place where u don't need a bullhorn to talk to someone 3 feet away. 3) shuffleboard table. This place will always have a special place in my heart since I popped my shuffleboard cherry here on September 30th after closing out Charter Fitness. However, they've since replaced the old board with a new-fangled board with the prison bars that come up in the middle to avoid free plays, and the table is but crooked. Not that I'm a cheapskate and try to play for free, but the sand gets stuck in the holes so when you start a game, you have to manually push the bars in in order to allow your pucks to slide freely from end to end. I know, I know, #firstworldproblems 3) jukebox. Since the beginning if time, man has attempted to push forth their culture on those around them, and this is the perfect way to do it. You can even control the jukebox from your phone! Well, your smartphone at least. I don't think your Motorola StarTAC is going to help you out here, nor will your Nokia 8200. 4) regulars. You will see the same people day in day out here, whatever day of the week. They may or may not remember that you had a conversation about whatever you had a conversation about, but they're friendly. Or you can chalk it up to this place being a townie bar, but I won't call it that. Come to Cubbies, sidle up to the bar, and maybe drop a buck on a game of shuffleboard or two. If I'm there, say hello and challenge me to a game. I might show you a thing or two. Or not. I've only been playing for a couple if months...

Not the kind of place to write home about... but I like it…read more Simple with a simple menu. The food is good not spectacular. The prices are in line with the type of place it is. Generous pours. Small variety of beer on tap. Good music (to me) medium to light rock. If I don't like you I won't review you.

I went to celebrate my birthday there. Little after 3pm on 3/31/25. I had such the worst service…read more The lady didn't pay attention to my husband and I when we let her know respectfully said we were ready to order. Because she was just continue to talk to her regularly customer which you can clearly see. As she started to make our drink she stopped in the middle of it to get another drink for the man she kept talking to. Which clearly was her friend. She even put in the wrong hamburger order in after bringing mine out. So my husband had to wait longer as I waited to eat. The drink was terrible. And try to enjoy my birthday meal and drink it was just bad. I still try to stay positive. So I order a different drink thinking it would be better. She took her a little bit to get her attention again. Their were only her two friend and 3 other people. I was so upset to have a terrible birthday experience. I still left a tip bcz that's what I do which I shouldn't have and am mad at myself I did. I just didn't know how to give it back and her see I didn't leave somthing. But I will tell everyone I know not to go there at all and just how horrible my birthday experience was. I TRUELY will never go there again. The bar lady had terrible service and just made me feel that our presence their was in her way of focus on her conversation with the man and women she was talking to the whole time. Am pissed that I picked there to have my special birthday and just to experience such terrible service and drink. We spent $65 there. It was Just Bad Bad And I do mean Bad all the way around. What a Happy Terrible Birthday time. TRUELY upset. If I could give a "0" score I would.
