But then when I moved out I had a slew of erroneous charges that basically summed up to me owing them on top of my security deposit. Things like light bulbs, rent for the month after I moved out, the drywall their repairman put a hole in to fix our pipes, and money they paid me for notifying them about parties that they wanted back. When I called them up it took forever for them to get back to me (as in months). I told them I had photos and witnesses that these were false charges. Their response? To ignore my calls and then go after my roommate, telling her they would be GLAD to give her some money back for the same charges, provided I paid them in full. Gee, thanks a lot. With these guys, it could be okay, but take pictures coming in and going out. Make them tour the place with you when you move in and out. Point out any flaws. Make them point out any flaws. If you can, get them to sign papers saying things are all peachy. Have witnesses. Don't give them an out.
