Found a jacket in the no tag section where prices go based off the sign. The jacket was clearly…read moresecond hand with some staining, which I was fine with because it fit and was going to be an outdoors coat. At the check out, the lady tells me that this coat "should have" a tag because it's Columbia brand, and that it would be $4 more than what the sign was BECAUSE they up-charge for Columbia. She asked if that was okay, and told her that the sign said $8 for jackets. She then proceeded to say "it's okay not to buy it". Maybe $4 is not a lot to the average person, but it is a lot to most people going to thrift stores, including myself. You got the item for free and I'm coming to a thrift store because I can't afford to buy retail as a student... I ended up not buying because of that increase in price. Again, the jacket was in no means "good condition", it just fit and I needed a jacket. It's unprofessional to up-charge a worn item at the cash register just because you THINK it should be more.
