I cannot say enough good things about Janice Reichert who I have been seeing at Berkshire…read morePsychiatric for medication management of my depression and anxiety. When the current meds I was taking failed to help following the death of my beloved grandmother, Janice rolled up her sleeves and got to work looking for a solution. Janice might not be a "Chatty Cathy," but that's why I have a dog AND a therapist, however, Janice did spend a good amount of 1:1 time working with me learning what had transpired and what I was experiencing until she found a NEW combination of antidepressants and something to treat my anxiety and current insomnia in a safe but effective manner. Janice Reichert is an extremely intelligent woman and incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to medications and how they work in the body and interact with other meds. Those who find her cold may be misinterpreting the wheels that are always turning in her brain. I have witnessed first hand as she critically thinks of ways to help put her patients back on the road to solid mental health. I thank God that Janice was able to help me through one of the darkest periods of my life. Her knowledge of what meds would work for my chronic depression and acute symptoms no doubt helped pull me out of my deep depression and gave me back my life again. Thank you, Janice!

This morning on January 22, 2020 I received a text message from my wife telling me she was having suicidal thoughts. She has had depression issues for a few years & has been spiraling the past few months. I got her to come home from work & we decided to make an appt with her psychiatrist Janice Reichert at Berkshire Psychiatric & Behavioral Health Service. The secretary got her an emergency appointment at 12:15. We checked in at 11:55am & from the moment Janice walked out she had an attitude--she calls my wife's name & rolls her eyes. My wife politely asks her if she minds if I join them for the session. Janice just walked away w/o answering. She stood at her office door & my wife asked again if she minds for me to join them-- she just shrugged her shoulders & walked into her office to sit down at her desk. We followed in, my wife sat beside the desk & I took a seat on the couch across the room. Janice proceeded to quickly ramble off a time table of my wife's previous sessions & medications. Then Janice looks at my wife & says "now I get a note on my desk saying your suicidal." Janice rolls her eyes & says "so what do you want me to do" with her hands in the air. My wife was speechless, she immediately started tearing up & wanted to leave. At this point I stepped in & explained my wife has been seeing a therapist & has been on and off different medications for years but nothing seems to be working. If you know anything about depression, it is all trial and error trying to find one that works.... "she here is looking for help!" Janice proceeds to tell me if I'd stop talking over her she can explain. So I sit back & say please do... She proceeded to say the same exact things she said when we walked in, with more detail--Exact dates & exact medications. She finishes by saying "these pills aren't magic". The whole time rolling her eyes & talking down to my wife and I. It was the most disgusting & unprofessional thing I have ever witness in my life. At this point, my wife was sobbing & she proceeded to leave the room into the waiting area crying uncontrollably and calling for me to follow. Saying "I just want to leave". Before I left the room I told Janice her actions were unacceptable. Treating a person who already feels helpless & worthless the way she did was completely unacceptable. My wife came to you for help, You should be f***ing ashamed of yourself. I got the company managers # to file a complaint before we left. We are now on our way to the hospital. After this treatment, my wife is asking to be admitted. Only now did I realize that when the emergency appointment was scheduled it was probably scheduled during Janice's lunch break. I guess lunch is more important to Janice then my wife's life. I think Janice is in the wrong profession!!!!!!!! If I were not there to witness it myself I'm not even sure I would have comprehended the ugliness this woman treated my wife with. On the ride home my wife told me If I were not with her this could have possibly pushed her over the edge. I'm sharing this so it doesn't happen to anyone else. Please share, it may save a life!

I asked for an assessment of my 7 year old daughter's diagnosis of GAD from when she was 5, but despite directly asking for a fresh assessment with observations from counseling sessions, I wasn't given anything specific, or even a treatment plan until after 2 months of counseling sessions. The treatment plan I was given was backdated 2 months, and it didn't list any symptoms for the diagnosis of General Anxiety Disorder. When I emailed and called, asking directly for supporting observations, evidence, or anything that would lead to a diagnosis of GAD, I was told I would have to schedule a separate appointment to discuss the diagnosis, which I'd have to pay for, in order to have them tell me anything. When I spoke with a manager to request more specifics, I was again told nothing in detail, but was told I had "the wonderful opportunity to get a second opinion somewhere else" and then they dropped my daughter from their counseling services. In my experience, PA Counseling Services will sign people up for indefinite counseling and refuse to give any rationale for their methods, which basically means they operate as a for-profit entity trying to extract as much money as they can from the people who use their services. I was really hopeful they'd provide professional expertise, but instead I feel like I was conned and my daughter was dropped as a patient once I exposed their fraudulent business.
