It's nicely landscaped, and there are sidewalks to ride your bike on, and shady areas to hang out under. Unfortunately, there's no restrooms here.

Anytime of the day including summer afternoons you can find moms with strollers, dog owners, and other people walking the path around the park. If you walk the path 4 times that equals a little bit more than a mile. There are about 7 picnic tables , no BBQ allowed. No swings or playscapes. Just a nice quiet shady park that looks to be 3 acres . There are probably no more than 8 parking spots, but I've never seen the lot full. It's just a nice place to come and chill.

I feel like this park is overlooked as it's on a street corner and small, with a tiny parking lot. But it's perfect for exercise when you don't have a lot of time, or for older people and kids. My toddler loves just going around and around. Everyone here is friendly and it's just a great place to walk, sit or have a picnic. There is no playground but why do you need one when there are tons of birds to watch and listen to.

Well, congrats, you just found that place via Yelp. John Stokes park is wedged between farmland on the other side of I35, down the narrow and unsuspecting Cape street. Even on a Sunday, the park wasn't so busy that there was nowhere to sit or have to ourselves, and the people there made a comfortable mix of college kids, adults, and families. The best part of the park is the 30ft high, man-made waterfall that drops into a sort of cove. A perfect touch. Chances are, you'll see fearless kids flipping from the falls into the water below, which is at least a sight to see, if you are not the daredevil type. There are also park benches here for eating, drinking, or talking. If you live here in town, forget the Sewell Park swimsuit competition. Forget the Cheatam Street theme park crowd. John Stokes state park is the best place to experience and enjoy the San Marcos river. Tip: Much of this river park is tree-lined, so if you need direct sunlight to enjoy swimming in the cool river water, visit around noon when the sun is overhead.

Town square has a relaxing park area. Seguin is one of the oldest towns in Texas. Sebastopol House is located here (known for being constructed from limecrete). Juan Seguin (Tejano leader, Texas Revolution) is buried here. Annual Pecan Fest is a great time. Heritage Museum has tons of historical documents and artifacts. Water activities, parks, playgrounds, and golfing. My boyfriend's family has streets named after them, sculptures, monuments, park benches and more.

I would say Seguin is much different from the two previous reviews. There have been a lot of changes in the last few years alone. If you're driving from San Marcos into Seguin, you'll notice many new homes are being built starting in the low 200s. Lots of apartments as well. This town is growing and thriving. The downtown historic district is looking good with retailers and restauranteuers. I was surprised to see the city center free of homeless camps and neglect. After driving through much of the city I was surprised as to just how clean and well organized it was. Yes you'll always find that neighborhood that's less affluent, however things seem to be changing for the better. There's the new Bauer park close to downtown and the city center seems to be quite vibrant and alive. The Burnt Bean on the square always has a line out the door for bbq. The courthouse across the street adds character to the square as does the Central Park next to it (separate review). Other things to consider is the newly renovated HEB with a gas station, Randolph auxiliary base, 2 historical cemeteries (See separate reviews) and some large parks (and the list goes on). If I was ready to retire and move, this town would definitely be on my list to move to.

Other amenities include lots of covered picnic tables with grills, soccer fields, paved sidewalks and trails, but no pool. Built in 2015, they also included a concessions area and public bathrooms. The well designed play scape is as good as they get and the splash pad is very popular with the small kids in the neighborhood. Not far away from the splash pad you'll also find a skate park and basketball court. Definitely a great place for a picnic, to go for a bike ride, or hang out under one of many of the park's shade trees. Plenty of photos below to get you into the parking lot.
