My parents took me here during vacations when I was a child, and now I visit with my children. The space has improved a lot over the years. There's still the beautiful small lake that the park is centered around. They've added a small dock with a covered space that includes benches. My children and I love watching all of the turtles swimming in the water below. For anyone who needs a space to run / walk, there is a paved path that circles the park. For the kids, there are two separate playgrounds -- one geared towards younger kids and one towards older kids. During the summer months, they often hold free movie nights here, complete with snacks. We watched a screening of "Lilo and Stitch" projected on a large screen that a group had set up. Bathrooms are available. A Free Little Library is next to the playgrounds. Overall, a truly great and functional little park.

Unfortunately, there was a dreadful crawl, one hour to be exact, to get through two traffic lights before reaching the park. The admittance fee is $20 per vehicle. The lights were pretty decent, the best one were the ones that were synced to music such as the trees. At the end, you have the option to exit the park or visit Santa's Village. My nieces wanted to do the latter. We purchased smores and hot chocolate which they enjoyed. There was also a toy shop, petting zoo, and Santa Express train ride. A fun and enjoyable experience for young children. If the park could better manage the bottleneck, it would make a more enjoyable experience for adults too.

The park is only 1.5 acres but it has a dedicated parking area on the street around the corner. Signs are posted that street parking on Windy Hill Road is not permitted. The park includes a marker "This park is dedicated to Coach Yow, who in 1950, formed a youth camp that gave the children of North Myrtle Beach organized activities when none had existed. The park has clean restrooms, a picnic pavilion and a playground area as well. It is popular with people for walking their dogs but it was never crowded with people or dogs when we were there. There is an observation walkway/dock over the water and a boat/fishing dock that rises and falls with the tide. There were a few fishermen using the dock as well as fishing from the Intracoastal Waterway bank each time we visited. There is a small parking lot with some additional parking nearby. There was plenty of parking when we visited.

Upon arrival you will notice that there is a sizable parking lot for those who are here for this section only and also bathrooms which is always a plus. There is a small hut where folks check in and purchase the package they wish to experience and its usually slots of time that can be long or short. There is a nice lake with several obstacles set up for patrons to climb up and jump off of into the lake and there is even a part that will pull you around the lake on a cable that was attached to some kind of track . That looked like fun but its clearly for a certain level of adventurer. The area looked clean and kept up and there are plenty of trees to hide under when the sun is blazing up above you. This will be important for those that aren't enjoying the water. Now while I am doing this after not trying and was just an observer, I can admit that I don't think that I ever had any interest in visiting a water park. An amusement park with a couple of water attractions are fine but not one that is dedicated to it in full. I think this is a great idea for any visitors to the region with kids of a certain age to give them something to do for a few hours so if you're heading down there do check their prices and then hit one of the many awesome buffets that MB offers.
