Beware. This management deletes bad reviews on google, so don't trust anything you read online. They prioritize collecting rent over actually helping tenants, and the property has serious issues--pests, leaks, mold, faulty smoke alarms, unsafe windows, and zero security. I lived here for 2.5 years. These are DECENT apartments that claim to be "luxury"... maybe they were luxury back in 2006 when it was built, but in today's world, I wouldn't consider this luxury at all. I believe the complex is rated so high on review sites because they tell their residents to go leave reviews to be entered to win a gift card. I received several of these emails from when I lived there. Negatives: -Duke Energy is CRAZY high in the winter, because the complex is not properly insulated. I lived in a 2 bedroom apartment (1,050 sq ft), and my bill from Oct-March was always over $200. -The gym treadmills are always broken/aren't calibrated properly. Same goes for the ellipticals, and the bikes and the machines. Basically, it was a room with weights. -The tanning bed was always broken, and finally one day they just stopped offering this as an item all together without warning -The rent increases are insane. I moved in the apartment paying $919/month ($939 with pet rent), and by the end, I was paying $1,100/month. Thats almost a $200 increase in a 2.5 years time span. -They are always late getting the pool open. They always used the excuse that its a "health department issue," but its a little hard to believe that when you see literally every other apartment pool open. Last year the pool didn't open until, I kid you not, the 1st week of July. They blamed this on COVID, but again, every other pool was open (oh, and they didn't bring out the furniture until about the 3rd week of July) -Move out bill, THIS ONE IS IMPORTANT. I was charged over $700 for moving out. This was for them repainting (which I didn't paint at all), my cat scratching the trim (I take blame for that one) and just cleaning. I asked for a detailed breakdown of my charges, because I was tired of going back and forth with the manager and the charges not making sense (she even told me they charge "every resident for cleaning," okay so does that mean no one gets their security deposit back??) I had to be out of the apartment on Aug 1. See attached picture, FROM DECEMBER. Thats how much back and forth we went. Thats how unorganized they are about their residents. She ended up emailing me in January, telling me that she couldn't get a break down of the charges. I thought this was sketchy, so I didn't respond. I then get a letter from a debt collector in March. I ended up having to contact the Becovic Management regional manager to get this solved. In other words, they will nickel and dime you to the CORE. Positives: ....its an apartment? I will say that the location is pretty cool. Nothing SPECTACULAR though. Personally, I wouldn't recommend living here. I know several other people who have lived here as well and they weren't impressed either. These are 1000000% overpriced and overrated. If you truly want luxury, there are plenty of other newer built apartments on the west side that are actually that. read more

Not sure where to begin with this review. If you're looking for a luxury apartment in Plainfield, look elsewhere. There are other, newer, quieter complexes in the area. This community is very pet-friendly, but dirty with over-flowing pet waste cans. It appears that at least half of the pet owning tenants don't clean up after their animals (which is a tenant 'rule') there is dog poop all over the place at all times. Windows and doors are drafty, making your electric bills insane during the winter months. One of our bills was $200 and we weren't even living there! Our a/c had to be replaced at the beginning of the summer which took too long (IMO) because they had to exhaust all other possibilities before spending the money on a new unit. Our oven exploded (yes, sparked in my face) the first night we moved in and our smoke detectors chirped for weeks until the main hardwired unit was finally replaced. Although somewhat safe (because of the on-site courtesy officer) I wouldn't live here again if you paid me. Our first neighbors were nice and quiet, but inevitably evicted from their apartment. I would take them back in a heartbeat if we didn't have to deal with who moved into that same apartment a few months later. Walls are paper thin, which eliminates any privacy from your neighbors. We experienced obnoxiously loud (music blaring, domestic issues, pet irresponsibility) neighbors above us for a few months. We have since moved out, but continue to pay rent. Good luck trying to break a lease for health/safety and well-being reasons. Not going to happen. The lease agreement is insane and extremely expensive to break. We had at least half a dozen issues with our upstairs neighbors and Central Park/Becovic Management did nothing but give our neighbors a slap on the wrist--even after our neighbor pounded on our door at 2:30am screaming, threatening and intimidating us. The property manager doesn't have the authority to do anything at all; it all boils down to money and the number of vacant units. To go above the PM means getting in touch with the regional manager; the regional manager who doesn't respond to ANY type of communication. Big thumbs down for these money-hungry-only-individuals. I have lived in three different units here for the past five years and have nothing but praise to offer. The manager, Christina is professional as is the staff. Packages are accounted for in a ledger and I've never had one SNAFU with any package being lost. The office staff will deliver your package(s) inside your apt if you are in a pinch to pickup. The grounds are well kept, ranging from repaving the roads annually, mulching the grounds, trimming trees, bushes, fixing light fixtures, plowing snow from the roads and sidewalks as well as adding plenty of rock salt. The maintenance staff responds to inquiries in a timely manner. There are several police officers that live onsite and the Plainfield police patrol the grounds regularly. The Shops at Perry are within walking distance and utilities are fairly priced. My only complaint would be the water is very hard. For "luxury apartments", there should be water softeners in each unit. Noise is pretty minimal and pricing is not exorbitant. The complex is quiet, small and within reach of shops, bike trails and anything you need and is close to I-70. read more

Really glad to have moved to Plainfield and Central Park of Metropolis!! I love my apartment. The Office staff has always been great. The only complaint I would say I've had is with parking. Feel like there needs to be a Parking Permit given to Residents to control the parking. Other than that I love it! Love to walk to the Mall and close to the grocery store also!! read more

Return your keys!!!! I made the mistake of not returning my electonic key and they charged me an extra months rent and late fee even after the lease had ended and we were moved out. No where in the lease does it say they will do that. What makes matters even worse is the key is electronic! (They can just cancel the key so no one could use it again.) It's plastic and maybe costs 50 cents. I am still paying damage fees 6th months after I moved out for ridiculous reasons. Do not live here! It definitely wasn't worth it. read more

We have lived in Central Park at Metropolis for over a year. We have renewed our lease - shocking if you read the 2 reviews from earlier this year! Let's break it down. Rent: a little pricey but we love the location! Apartments: Our 2 bed and office has ample space for our family of four and our cat. All of our neighbors are friendly and quite. We are lucky that our 3rd floor apartment is facing the pool and office - I'm sure it is much quieter than apartments that are facing the street. Pets: The reviewer who wrote about the dog poop problem wasn't kidding. It's unpleasant. Some neighbors have 3 or more dogs - not sure what the policy number is since we're cat people. Staff: My repair requests have all been handled within three days of submitting a request. Naturally, if it was an emergency type thing, the guys were there that same day. The maintenance staff who have handled the problems were polite, efficient, and seemed very familiar with the apartments. The office staff is friendly and helpful. Snow removal: As you may recall, last winter was awful! They kept up with the driveway/streets and tried to clean out the parking lots during the day. Of course, it's hard to do that when some neighbors won't move their cars for the plow. But you're going to run into difficult people in LOTS of places, not just here at Central Park. Pool: This is just an annoyance really, but it seems to me that they would make sure all of the gates work. As I mom, I'd feel better if they put chemicals in more often but I don't mind smelling like chlorine. I do not have the issue with drafty doors/windows. No mold here, either. I would recommend CP to someone. Overall, it's a great location; is close to excellent schools, shopping, and easy access to I-70. Naturally, you should visit it and see your building (and check out the neighbors!) before you sign a contract. read more

I'm seriously disgusted at how Becovic runs their properties. Do not RENT from them. If you have a complaint you might as well save it because nothing will be done about it. They make mistakes and expect you to pay for the damages!!! Tell your friends and family to look at other apartments because Becovic's property "Central Park - Metropolis" is NOT luxurious... unless you consider MOLD luxurious. Floor plans are nice, location is safe and convenient, but that's where the pro's of living at Central Park end. Buildings are poorly constructed with cheap ill-fitting windows. We taped towels over the cracks in our windows to block the howling winter wind, and our heating bills were still over $400/month in the coldest months. The property manager is NOT professional, nor are the maintenance staff. When our fridge needed to be replaced, they took a used one out of another apartment, brought it to us unannounced (ie, we had to interrupt what we were doing to clean out our fridge), and then we discovered that the replacement fridge was dirty (dead bugs and melted chocolate inside). It also took several months (from Oct 2013 to July 2014) and numerous maintenance requests, emails to property management, and calls to the property ownership before our non-functioning air conditioner was properly repaired. The common stairwells are stained, the garbage dumpster is frequently overflowing, and if you are a non-smoker, you will be gagged by neighbors' smoke flowing into your windows in the summer and through the air ducts in the winter. There are many more negative experiences I could describe, but suffice it to say -- Do not be fooled by marketing claims of "luxury living" at Central Park. read more

I have moved around a lot over the years and have lived in many apartment buildings. This was the worst experience I have had. The floor plans are good (that is how they received their 'prestigious' prodigy award - for floor plans and brochures! http://www.iaaonline.net/sections/prodigywinners_2013.php). The managers are nice - until there is a problem. They tried to pin a leaking pipe (and damages it caused) on my one-year-old daughter. Six months into our lease they stated we had to renew the lease and then charged us for a short term lease since we would not be there for another year (we stayed 13 months total - which was way too long). It took nearly 2 months for them to stretch the carpet to cover a very sharp tack strip that my daughter kept crawling on and scraping herself. Upon moving out, we followed the very limited move-out instructions yet months later we are still fighting them over outrageous charges. The tenants range from single 20-somethings to families of 6 with kids running around unsupervised. The dog excrement was a huge issue. My car had so many door dings after a year in the parking lot that it looked like a golfball. With newer, nicer and less expensive options, I don't know why anyone would want to live here after reading all of the negative (but realistic) reviews. Don't be fooled by the edited pictures and nice "community center" (I don't think I ever saw anyone use it other than perspective tenants). Stay away. read more

I completely agree with the other tenant's review. This neighborhood is completely full of dog waste, and that causes rodents to be attracted. The grill/pool area is so dirty that our family cannot even use it. The grills don't work properly and obviously need replaced. The pool is so dirty that many residents choose to leave after looking at it instead of go swimming. Neighbors' dogs can bark and babies scream all day and night long and complaining to management does nothing. Management never even chooses to reply to communications sent to them about these issues. Electric bills can go over $300 a month because of leaking windows.. and you guessed it! Management doesn't care. Windows can be warped and holes be seen in the window sill and still maintenance does nothing. Do you want to be able to sleep peacefully 8 hours a night, not live with rodents and dog waste, and have reasonable electric costs? If so, don't move here! Also I frequently see communication posted on doorways about neighbors being evicted for nonpayment. That should tell you what kind of people they let in the neighborhood. Maintenance came to fix a broken toilet once and they scraped up the toilet bowl so bad it is embarrassing. They told me it would be too much work to fix it. (yet I guarantee they will have to fix it before the next tenant moves in). I could keep complaining but I think you get the drift... read more
