I have a history of kidney stones and last month I was blessed with some of the obvious symptoms of a stone. After seeing my primary care doctor at Ohio State, it was evident that my case was urgent and I needed to see someone as soon as possible. The OSU Urology department was unable to get me into an appointment before the holidays, so I was referred to the Central Ohio Urology Group. I was able to get an appointment within a week, which was much appreciated. My appointment wasn't at this specific location, and my doctor wasn't exactly satisfactory, but he ordered an ultra sound and an x-ray on top of the CT I had. My tests were scheduled for 9:30 in the morning here in Gahanna and I arrived a few minutes early. The check-in process was simple. I gave the receptionist my name and she handed me an electronic tablet that I was able to use at my seat. I answered numerous questions and handed it back. I was called back for my testing after a very brief wait, thank goodness. Both technicians I worked with were super friendly and made me feel completely comfortable. The facilities were clean and I got out of there earlier than I expected. Overall, the process was really smooth. I can only hope that my next appointment with my doctor goes smoother and I don't have to get any more tests. Fingers crossed.

    John anxiously awaiting test results.

Both my husband and I are patients here. We see different physicians, but are both quite satisfied with our care.

After running tests, they found I had a couple kidney stones, one of which was blocking my left kidney, causing a kidney infection and sepsis. I was still pretty scared, not ever having had any problems like this before. However; when Dr. Weiser walked into my ER cubicle, he took my hand, and he just exuded confidence and calm. He instantly put me at ease and took away my fear. He explained that he was going to do surgery to insert a stent to open up my blocked kidney, put me on antibiotics for the kidney infection, and then after the infection was gone; he would go back in and remove the stent. He also advised I'd be staying in the hospital overnight and be released to go home probably the next morning (which I was). This was the first time I'd met him, and I have dealt with him and his staff at several appointments since. Both he and his staff have always treated me with gentleness, kindness, and professionalism. I would recommend Dr. Weiser to absolutely anyone who needs a urologist. He has many elderly patients in his practice, and I have seen him come out into the waiting area to talk with them and their spouses and treat them with such respect and kindness. Dr. Weiser is tops in my book, and I would highly recommend him.

This urologist did not meet my needs, physically hurt me and offended me. I arrived with moderate…read morepelvic pain of a month's duration that had at times gotten so intense as to double me over. I also arrived with a 2-hour old CT scan that showed 5 kidney stones and with a 2-day old urinalysis from another Dr. that showed protein in my urine. I have a past history of kidney stones caused by a tumor on my parathyroid, all of which had to be surgically removed. So these stones were apparently new developments, which is cause for concern. Well, he acted like he was "trying" to be polite, as if it were this difficult thing to do. But in fact he acted instantly incredulous at everything I told him. He chopped off my sentences with premature acknowledgements, as if he already knew what I was going to say. He made mocking, petulant, slighting remarks about my other doctor. There was contempt in his voice. While he was acting this way, he performed an exam in which he was unnecessarily rough on a very sensitive part of my female anatomy that later bled and stung when I went to the bathroom. His rough handling of it caused me to cry out involuntarily in pain - he quickly finished the exam as if this was all he needed to know. Then he summed up that there was no reason for my pain, except I was just "not limber enough" and "needing to stretch" my pelvic muscles to make them "more balanced". I was like "really???" Come on, I've had those exams before, and they weren't like that. He said he'd send the urine sample he'd just collected that had blood in it to the lab, but didn't feel it was really necessary. And he just kept on - he started making remarks about "Hippie Boulder Weirdo Chiropractors" (my primary care Dr and chiropractor are in Boulder, CO). I was courteous to him out of social habit, begged off and left. But once I got out of there, I realized I felt upset and violated, that he had really made me feel bad both physically and emotionally while playing God with me and in fact refusing to help. Is this the kind of care you want? I just don't get the impression he respects people or their ideas very much. I know, first-hand what kidney stones can do to you. He could have checked Parathormone or ordered an IVP or come up with a plan to get rid of them. Instead he patronized me like I was some kind of liar, trivialized my symptoms, and arrogantly misbehaved. For this I pay money?

My MD knows that I do not like going to…read morea bunch of doctors, but since I am post-menopause and there are a few 'concerns', she assured me that I would really like "Dr. B.". When they called to make the appt (since I was a referral, they called me), I couldn't get an appt for 5 wks. When I asked if there was a cancellation list I could be added, the reply was "Honey.. there is NO cancellations. He's triple booked as it is. It's either this appointment, or you wait another month". So.. now I wait. Symptoms have not improved so I was anticipating a good visit with this GYN that my MD has confidence that I'll be taken care of. My husband decided to rearrange his work schedule to accompany me, knowing how much I do not like going to the doctors. When we arrived, I handed the receptionist my paperwork (that they had mailed) and my insurance card and dr. license. After she looked at my insurance card, she said "Oh.. we don't take THIS Anthem" But she went to the back to make sure. Another gal came out and informed me that 'yeah.. we don't take THIS Anthem." I reminded them that I was a referral. All my records had been sent ahead, why did no one check this and let me know prior to this? I have waited over a month for this appointment and my primary wants more testing done. All we got was 'yeah.. we just don't take this insurance." So my husband offered to pay cash. "We don't take Cash" (they don't take cash?) She mentioned something about 'Insurance Fraud"... but 'honey'... I work with insurance companies and it is not fraud if you have a patient that is willing to pay you cash when you do not accept their insurance. She just kept repeating herself "We do not take this insurance nor cash." I requested my driver's license back and said "I"m done'. I left the building, with my husband following me. I cried for a long time. I had waited over a month to go to another doctor to get answers. Why would they not check a referral's insurance, or when they called to make the appointment, ask me at that time, what insurance I had? Our insurance costs over $1300/mo and our deductible is extremely high. I am just disappointed that their office did not care about a Referral. They did not want CASH. They offered NO help nor did they do any pre-visit verification. I wasted weeks of waiting to see this Dr., So, if you need this doctor, make sure you have 'the right insurance'. Doesn't matter if you are a referral or not.

I was referred by my primary care physician to dr. Elkhairi. I called to make an appointment but…read morereceived a voicemail and no call back. A week later I called again and someone answered the phone I scheduled the appointment. On 11/20/15 I signed in, being a new client I stood at the window waiting to be acknowledged and given the usual new client paperwork but instead I was greeted with you can have a seat. I was then called and given paperwork as well as requested to pay a 30.00 co-pay. I advised the lady that my insurance request that they be billed 1st because my copayment will be paid through them. She said my insurance reflected that I owe a copay. I asked her to check with them again. After filling out the papers I took them back to the desk and she hands me a form that she asked me to sign showing the 30.00 company but with someone else name! I asked who is Yolanda she said that's not you? I said no. Then she realized my insurance did not require payment. I get Called back and the nurse and dr were wonderful so I was hoping the front desk staff was just having a bad day. The dr requested for me to have blood drawn, an ultra sound and a test done offsite as well as a follow up appointment. I was able to get blood drawn same day. And scheduled the ultra sound 11/25 and follow up appt 12/01. On 11/23 I received a call from an automated system saying they needed to reschedule my appointment and an email I assumed it was my next appt since no date was outlined in the voicemail nor email. I called immediately 11/23 left a voicemail and received no responses by 11/24. I called again in 11/25 left a voicemail. A few hours later I received a voicemail stating they needed to reschedule the 12/1 appointment not the 11/25 and now I need to reschedule 2 appointments. I also received a nasty letter stating that missed appointments result in a 32.00 fee as well as if I miss too many appointments I could be dropped as a client. I called to reschedule and a lady answered I tried to explain this miscommunications she wasn't trying to hear it. I arrive for my ultra sound at the time discussed and was told I was 2 hours early and should consider myself lucky. I then receive another call from the automated system stTing they need to reschedule my follow up appointment. I called immediately and received an answer the reason was because the dr no longer is practicing there ( surprise surprise). On 12/15 I go in for my follow up appointment with dr. Vieta. I waited 30 mins before being called back. I wait another 15mins to see the dr. When she finally came in the room she said "so you're here to get back on the pill" I responded " no I'm trying to have a baby!" And thinking WTF! She didn't even have all the results of my test! She made me think she was going to get them but she never came back. When leaving I told the lady at the front desk to have them call me with the results because I won't be back, she responded with OK are you going to request for those results to be sent to us? I was so angry and pissed. When I walked out to the parking garage I saw the dr. pulling off before ME! I didn't receive the call until 12/31. Save yourself from this hell hole if you really want to have personal professional care. Called them by mistake and still years later the staff still has a bad attitude and unhelpfu. I called over a week ago because of Fibroid issues and instead of calling back to ask if I made an error I got no response at all! The absolute worst.
