They were very busy, but they always touched base to let me know when they thought they would be able to cut the trees. I had never had trees removed before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. But it was a truly jaw dropping operation. The team and the equipment they show up with, was quite impressive. They assessed the situation. Moved everything into position and went to work. The way the crew in the trees, crane operator, and the ones on the ground, cutting and chipping, all worked together. They had both trees down and cleaned up quickly and safely. I don't do this often but wanted to offer a review of my experience with the kiln dried firewood. Tomorrow I'll be grabbing my 4th cord, yea we have a 1790's colonial....we have great air circulation I ways pickup my own wood so I cannot comment on the delivery service but as far as customer service these guys have always been top notch. Each time I've been there I'm usually pushing the envelope and right at the cut off...you know life, kids, farm, etc... and each time there is absolutely no issues from the guys in the shop to walk away from their projects and help me out. Always an easy conversation and prompt service. As far as the product, I couldn't be happier. The amount is true if not a little extra, fairly priced, dry and burns as it should. I've used other sources over the years and there were always concerns. To date the wood I've gotten here has been exactly as expected. I'm not local either I drive about 45min each way because in my opinion it's absolutely worth it. I usually have the pleasure of speaking with Christine on the phone who even answered on the weekend and her birthday. On site it's usually been Randy who as stated before has no issues leaving his current project to get me loaded and on the road in a prompt manner. While it may not be in my best interest to increase traffic at my wood source I would highly suggest you give them a try if you haven't already. read more

This was my first time purchasing from CMT and it will be my last. I got 3 cord delivered of green wood. Truck was on time and the amount was about what I should have gotten. I had 6 8 cubic foot wheel barrows of a bunch of crap. lots of bark from the splitter and generally somewhat small pieces of wood accounted for about 1/3 cord that I can only use to start the fires. I also called like many of the others on this review chain. Talked to Christine who told me she would contact the owner and would get back to me. NEVER DID! I called again and the same result. Bottom line, if you want to stay in business, you should take care of your customers and not give them the run around and the product they paid for. read more

I had my first dealing with Central Mass tree a few days ago when I purchased four chords of "seasoned" firewood. The wood is far from seasoned in fact it might as well have been cut last week. 45% moisture content, not even suitable for this season. When I call the office and spoke to Christine she said she'd look into it. Of course there was no reply so I called back eventually ending up with the owner. Violent temper doesn't even begin to describe this guy ! he couldn't even field a basic question without resorting to screaming and threatening me. He claims 45% moisture content constitutes seasoned wood which of course is nonsense. Pay attention to the online reviews for this place and steer well clear. Last year we ordered a late-season delivery of de-barked seasoned wood after getting our tax return. The wood was excellent and lasted until just recently, so we re-ordered a load of the same. TERRIBLE!!! Half the load was saturated and starting to go punky with mold, it looked like they scraped the bottom of the pile to load the truck. This is our only heating source and was supposed to last the coldest time of year. Now we will have to purchase kindling at the grocery store and hope that it dries out the wood we have stacked indoors. I tried to speak to someone about it and was given a bullshit excuse of "well it was a wet year so we can't guarantee anything..." when my husband had been assured that the wood was clean and dry. THIS WAS NEITHER. Wish I'd read the reviews previously b/c we would never have bothered with these assholes. EDIT- THE OWNER IS PSYCHO. AVOID DOING BUSINESS with this guy. This guy is legit scary- either has a drinking problem or a personality problem or both. I paid $1260 for 4 cords of wood on Oct 3rd-still don't have it. Apparently his driver called the number I told him not to call, the land line. When we called to see what the hold up was, this was part of his response, in texts to my phone!?!: "Loose your attitude. Come pick up your money. Tried both numbers 3 times all set. It's fucking 10 at night. Your an idiot. Answer your fucking phone like I said. Called the land line to. Good luck I sell 5000 cord a year for the last 25 years. Don't need ur bullshit. Blocking your number call office and we will send check." So, as you can see, HE DOESN'T NEED YOUR BUSINESS. And he says that again & again telling me & my BF how much wood he sells. Like I care. Annnd he says it again, here in the text I got the next day-yeah, actually texted me again the next morning after swearing at me, a customer who already paid. Never experienced anything like this in my life where a business owner lost his shit over being asked a question, after I've paid in full, and over a phone number: "Since October 1 we have called a total of four times the two numbers that you gave me that I have on my order sheet I take all the orders myself those are the two numbers you gave me your boyfriends attitude when he called me last night there's nothing I want to deal with and I won't we sell 5000 cords of wood here and there is a reason for that I could bring the wood sat morning or You can get your money back it's up to you and on top of that you called me up after 10 o'clock at night and wake my whole family up call my office and let Christy know what you wanna do 978874-1509 if you don't buy the wood somebody else will we get over 100 calls a day there is a specific reason for that" Um yeah buddy, are you alright? Ordered 4 cords of seasoned fire wood. Arrived wet and inside of the cords the wood was broken and mostly bark. Truthfully, it looked like the scrapings from the bottom of the yard. When a complaint was registered the response was racist. Every other time o have ordered wood from a company, it arrived dry and was all wood, whether bark was on or not. Ordered a cord of barkless seasoned wood. It was mid October so I ordered a bit late. Price was $320 delivered. Driver was prompt and great. Only problem i have with this place is that its not seasoned. Luckily i have a half cord of seasoned wood still or this stuff would never get going in a woodstove. I would imagine the stuff i got delivered could be dried out in about 4 months. Definitely overpriced for the wetness of the wood but otherwise not bad. read more

The wood was frozen together with chunks of ice the size of full pieces. On a day we got a thaw I was able to smash apart and clean up the mess. I had to spend the better part of a full day cleaning and wheel barreling away the mess that was not wood. Unfortunately when I tried to relay the info to the owner he was super unprofessional and called me a liar. read more

Watched your delivery driver almost dump wood on top of someone's parked vehicle (Marlboro MA 11/11/2020 430pm-ish). The car owner started screaming at the driver to stop. As to why he would dump wood so close to a parked car? It was your shorter delivery driver with a long black beard. The driver proclaimed that he knew what he was doing, as he drove the truck with the lifted bed into a tree canopy. The car owner moved his car out the way, and the truck driver still proceeded to confront the car owner. Lots of swears, truck driver also threatened the car owner to "come over here and say that". Your company is lucky, the car owner was more "equipped" than the short truck driver with a napoleon complex. Could recommended finding drivers that know what they are doing instead of hiring the bottom of the barrel. read more

Their customer service is terrible. Hard to get in touch with and then lots of attitude. They called to deliver wood with less than 24 hours notice. Had to run around to move a trailer and camper from where the wood needed to be dropped. Then they never showed up. Spend your money with a different buiness. read more

I bought a cord of de-barked seasoned wood a month ago for $310. It is the most disgusting cord I have ever seen, and I have been burning wood for 37 years, in the end after stacking it, I had 7 wheelbarrow loads of scrap, sawdust and mulch. This was my first time buying from Central Mass Tree and its my last. STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!!!!! I called them on Tuesday 11/13/18 to tell them how disappointed I was with the amount of "Scrap" there was and I was told that's the way it is, when I mentioned in his ad in the Gardner News it states "why pay for bark' I was told not to talk to him in like that and then he hung up on me! IF you are a true professional you will take the heat when a complaint is given and do you best to resolve the issue at hand, obviously we are dealing with a child that cannot handle it. DO NOT BUY WOOD FROM THIS PLACE! Wow. I should have checked reviews before trying to do business with this guy (Randy). So glad he was so rude, unpleasant and two-faced on the phone that I decided not to purchase. I, too, contacted him about two cords of wood (and possibly two more if we liked the wood). When I asked about stacked measurements versus truck measurements and my concern that we receive a full 128 cu ft. (granted I can be a fit obsessive!), he gave me his line about how he delivers 5,000 cords a year, it's always a full cord, and if I have any concerns to find someone else. He quoted $420 for the two cords. I took his brusqueness for professionalism and "all business." After checking one other supplier who had the same price I called him back (two or three days later). He was again rude and short; he asked what length we wanted - I said our stove can burn 20" but that I've been told that 20" length wood fills the trucks differently than 16" and there is less when stacked; he cut me off and again said I could go elsewhere if I didn't like what he said (with the repeat of the 5,000 cord annual delivery history). I then said we'll take 16" length. He asked me whether he had given me a price and I told him what he had said; he then said there would be a delivery charge of $30 (or $40?). I told him he had said the $420 included delivery. He then told me they were focusing on seasoned wood (we were getting unseasons) and he had just raised his price. Unbelievable. Just had 3 cord of firewood delivered from Central Mass Tree. My neighbor had recommended Randy(the owner) for the great firewood he sold. This was two years ago and what I saw looked great. I recently ordered three cord from him after a lot of going back and forth on the phone(he does not have an answering service). I ordered Three cord of his highly recommended debarked seasoned firewood. I received the load and noticed a lot of junk and dirt in it as well as chunks and slivers, nothing like my neighbor received two years ago. Also, many of the pieces were not 16 inches in length as was advertised but 14 to 15 and less which is not such a big deal. The way he operates is that he trumps up the product as being clean, dry, and cut to length, and of course debarked which burns cleaner and less bugs and debris etc. Fine. He then sets up a delivery demanding cash only and when the delivery is made, the driver takes your cash and then dumps it. Guess what? If it isn't up to your liking, you are stuck with it. Anyway, I called Randy to simply point out that there seemed to be some inconsistencies with what was delivered and he tore me a new you know what. Would not let me get a word in over his harsh and unrelenting feedback. I understand about running a business and customer service because I have been in the landscape and tree service business for over 35 years(now retired). I would never ever treat a customer like he did to me over the phone(he hung up on me). Nor would I ever short someone or advertise a service or product to mislead as he does. I'll stack it up and see if the count is right but I would not recommend this company because of their attitude and lack of customer service. I believe he should take a break or quit the business if this is how he treats customers. read more
