I have taken some snapshots of a couple of the booths so that you can get a sense of the style of the store and some of the items available. I like just to walk around and see what they have without having anything in particular that I am looking to purchase. They have all sorts of vintage wares such as jewelry, some furniture, pictures, and several vintage clothing booths. All in all makes a nice shopping stop!

Got a text from my sister over the weekend saying she had spotted a photo of our brother Ned at…read moreFeather Your Nest. It was entitled "Picture of a Young Boy" and had an antique look about it. So, I raced over Sunday morning and found the photo and then found myself browsing what turned out to be a great antique store for the first time. Get in there if you haven't been! They have everything from childhood photos of my brother to an English Springer Spaniel art serving tray, to two vintage novelty neckties (Christmas theme and New York City theme). Or at least that's what followed me home! Brother Ned, if you're reading this...just know that if your boyhood photo ends up in an antique store, you just might be an antique yourself!!

Green Tree is an antique shop and tea room in a historic district of Lexington that offers a noon luncheon Wednesday through Saturday. On the day we visited, they were packed with parties of all sizes from duos to a group of 13. Everyone has the same menu which changes each month and is published on their website. The tables were covered in crisp linens and accented with fresh flowers and pretty flatware and dishes. For $19.95, you get a soup, a homemade scone, a specialty entree (petite portion), finger sandwiches, and sweets. And, there's a seasonal, hot tea. May's menu started with a delicious, cold strawberry soup. It was like strawberries and cream in a bowl. Next was a fresh from the oven, cream scone with lemon curd and Lafayette cream. I had high expectations for the asparagus crepe with moray sauce after thirst two dishes. Sadly, the crepe contained room temperature rice and veg. The moray was excellent but the entree would have been better warm. The finger sandwiches served in a buffet included shrimp toast, cucumber rounds, and egg salad sandwiches. All were delicious. The desserts - dark chocolate mousse, strawberry wafer cookies, and mini coconut cupcakes were a terrific finale.
