I had a very disappointing experience with the administrative side of this pulmonology practice…read more After being prescribed a necessary medication following trials and doctor visits, the office repeatedly failed to respond to requests from my insurance company, my pharmacy, and the medication's patient assistance program (MyWay) for required prior authorization and enrollment forms. I've called multiple times over weeks/months, left detailed messages (including one for a supervisor over a week ago with no callback), sent written requests, and followed up persistently--yet nothing gets done. The insurance and pharmacy confirmed they're waiting solely on this office to submit paperwork, but the staff either doesn't respond or promises action that never happens. This has caused significant delays in starting treatment for my chronic condition, which is frustrating and unacceptable when dealing with a serious lung issue. The doctor herself may be fine clinically (I can't speak to that part), but the front office and admin team are disorganized, unresponsive, and seem overwhelmed or indifferent to patient needs. I've seen similar complaints in other reviews here about staff issues, so this appears to be a pattern. Potential patients should be aware that getting basic administrative support here is extremely difficult. I regret the time and stress wasted and am now seeking care elsewhere.

After seeing Dr Shawn Pate and calling this clown office in Winter Garden, I found it was a waster Drs aren't calling patients back went in and tried to follow up zero calls finally after 10 days a call but nothing from the Drs staff asked for a practice manager and it's now going on 4 weeks still no call . No thank you. Maybe I'll get a call back in a couple of years lol what a joke

I was…read moretold that I would be contacted to schedule a sleep study, which is something they do in house. I received a phone call about a month later from Advent Health to schedule a sleep study, but they advised that they are out of network. I knew that Advent Health was out of network, which is why I went with Florida Lung, Asthma & Sleep Specialists. I received a call a couple weeks later from FLASS advising that my insurance denied the pre-authorization for a sleep study, and that I should call the insurance to find out why. FLASS lied about my insurance denying the pre-authorization. They tried to cover this up by saying that they sourced it to Advent Health after my insurance already denied a pre-authorization; but my insurance never received any authorization request from FLASS. I initially started the process back in October, and by January I decided to cancel my follow up appointment with FLASS since they never completed the study they were supposed to follow up on. If they are lying to patients about insurance approvals, what else are they lying to patients about?

This place is a joke. The doctors are great but the rest of the staff are terrible. They take 2-3…read moreweeks minimum just to reply to a phone call. There is no communication whatsoever between office staff and you as the patient. I think they grew too fast and don't have the support staff to function properly. It took them one month to refill a prescription-- a month. They have "misplaced" appointments that have been scheduled for months, no customer service skills, and overall I never felt valued as a patient.

I would highly advise against seeing Dr. Robert Santos. As a physician, I am absolutely appalled at…read morehis interactions with patients. He saw my 77 year old mother for initial consultation last year. She did not remember the details of her visit, so I reached out to his office on three separate occasions to ask for the clinic notes, or a brief discussion, so I could understand his recommendations. I did not get any response, so I asked my mother to go to the office and sign a medical release form, thinking perhaps that was the barrier. When Dr. Robert Santos saw her in the office waiting room , she told him that she was there for fill out medical release forms so that he could communicate with me about her care. He immediately fired her as a patient, stating this relationship was not working for him and she needed to find a different pulmonologist. Not only is this reaction incredibly aloof, but as a physician I know that it is his responsibility, as a healthcare provider, to release medical records to anyone the patient requests for information to be transferred to. I understand he may not have wanted to call me back as he could not bill for the telephone visit (which is an issue in itself), but him sending medical records is NOT him doing me or my mother a favor. It is his responsibility as a healthcare provider. It is a scary thing to have physicians out there who only see patients as dollar signs- as clinic encounters they can bill for, and then be done with the patient without taking on the other vital roles of a physician- one of them providing medical records at a patient's request. I am considering reporting him. Someone like this should not be allowed the honor of treating patients.
