The pricing is tricky. Here's how it works: * If you park for less than 4 hours during the day, you will be charged $2.50 per hour. This is a good deal if you are parking for less than 4 hours since street parking is $3.50 per hour, maximum 2 hours on the street in a spot. * If you arrive before 9am, you will get the early bird deal, which is $15 all day as long as you leave by 6pm. This is also a good deal since the next cheapest spot is $17 at the Kittredge parking garage under the David Brower Center. * BUT!!! if you arrive after 9am and stay for more than 4 hours and 1 minute, this garage is a terrible deal! It will cost $25 flat rate for any amount of time more than 4 hours and 1 minute if you start your parking after 9am and before 5pm.

very clean women's public bathroom in Center Street Garage, near entry on Addison Street

I'm giving this 5 star review because of the awesome cleanliness of the women's public bathroom in the Center Street Garage. The cleaning staff deserve high praise, because it is spotless. I took the attached photos on two weekend afternoons in March 2022 and June 2023 (I've been meaning to post this review for a while). As you can see, very clean! You can find this women's public bathroom (and the men's, too) next to the garage entry located on Addison Street, between Shattuck and Milvia. There are also single-stall women's & men's bathroom next to the entry on Center Street, but this review does not include those bathrooms. Great job, cleaning staff!

It's the closest garage to work, but I still prefer to park two blocks away at the 2020 Kittredge Street Garage (which may technically be called the Library Gardens Garage). Why? Because the Center Street garage feels ultra shady. It's not, but it feels that way. It's also pretty dangerous to walk through (although I do so often) because the exit ramps from the second level are very short, so someone careening down one of those ramps is unlikely to have enough lead time to brake before he or she injures or kills you. I also don't understand why they've painted center lines rather than plain old arrows. When you're driving and you see a line, do you automatically assume that you're supposed to drive with that line between your wheels? See, in the United States, lines on pavement are borders. It takes quite a bit of driving-brain-reprogramming to drive on a line rather than next to it, and having to think too much while you're driving may distract your actual driving, so you may careen into some walking-through pedestrian on the ground level. The rates are slightly cheaper or slightly more expensive than other nearby garages, depending on when you park, how long you stay, and when you leave. The elevators are gross and feel dangerous. There are too many levels. For parking, it's not as bad as the Allston Way Garage, but that's not saying much, plus I also walk through the Allston Way Garage all the time and never feel unsafe doing that.

Safe, secure, well-lit. I would use this again. Just be aware of the operating hours.

Never knew you could review parking lots or parking structures which is probably the most strange…read morereview I'll ever write but anything is Yelp-able! Anywho, the Perry Lot. It's not just your ordinary parking structure it's a Berkeley parking structure. It seriously has its own culture within the parking lot. You can feel the hipster vintage vibes seeping through the cement walls, air was very hipster and vintage. It was like being in a different world but in Berkeley. Stepping out of the car I was so confused as I felt I was instantly thrown back into the 70s with all the vintage energy i was receiving from this parking structure. A burst of cold air rushed in and reminding me I was not in the 70s but in Berkeley 2021. It's cold so dress accordingly!!! I never do :( On a serious note, your typical parking structure that leads to like the main road with shops, food and clothes!! I seriously love the architecture of the parking structure. Since I lived in Los Angeles I always dread parking structures ---- they give me nightmares but this wasn't so bad probably because we found parking mega easy! We felt safe, the car was still there and walking distance to main areas. I recommend giving this parking structure a shot :) it's not just an ordinary parking structure it's a BERKELEY parking structure, according to the dude xD

The location is awesome, and central to a lot of good shopping and local eateries, and close to campus. There is a bathroom in the building near the pay stations, but it was out of toilet paper, seat covers and soap, so clearly not maintained very often as it was not very late in the day, As other reviewers have mentioned, the parking spaces are tight. I have a small car, and it when the garage started filling up, it was more difficult to leave the space I parked in. Overall good experience.

The one-way lanes in the garage are a little confusing at first, but they do have a lot of signs and painted arrows on the ground to help lead the way. The parking spaces are narrow, but the garage is spacious otherwise so it's not cramped when trying to back out. Visitors pay for parking at the Telegraph Channing Shops, next to the elevator on ground level. Restrooms are located here, too. But there's often a long wait for the elevator, so I prefer to take the stairs up back to my car. Beware, the stairways are nasty and smelly and have limited access. You can only enter the stairwell on Channing, as Durant is exit only and the door is locked from the outside.

I only saw one payment machine by the pedestrian entrance by the north portion of the garage and had to wait a moment while the person ahead of me paid. The single machine only accepted credit cards. Don't lose your ticket or you'll have to pay the maximum daily payment regardless of time spent. You scan the ticket on the way out to get the gate arm to raise. I didn't see any suspicious people or encounter pools of urine or trash. Whoever runs this garage is doing an adequate job of keeping homeless people out of it. Overall I found it to be just fine getting in and out of the garage on my midweek all-day campus visit. Bottom line I would use this garage again if I had an all-day campus event to attend. I just recently learned that Stadium Parking, which is beneath Maxwell Family Field, is where they suggest that all general visitors park. Really? All the way up here? To visit campus? That's crazy! It's the closest parking to Memorial Stadium, but I'm sure it's ridiculously expensive to park here for football games, if it's not reserved outright for season ticket holders and/or other rich alumni. It's technically the closest parking to the Greek Theatre, which I normally just trudge up the hill from Downtown Berkeley to, but when I brought my dad to the Greek to see Elvis Costello, I knew the hill would be too much for him, so we parked here. Yes, it's expensive, but it's not a ghastly kind of expensive. If you do park here, remember that you're still in Berkeley, even if you are on campus. What I mean is that you shouldn't assume that there's any kind of added security just because it's a paid parking structure way up the hill on a college campus. Thieves be thievin', and they'd like nothing more than to break your car window just to see whether that small bag you left on the backseat contains anything of value whatsoever.

Right turn from University Ave onto Shattuck Ave. First couple of blocks, with the usual on street parking blocked off by construction. Would go down 3 blocks on Shattuck, looking in vain for on street diagonal parking, separated by traffic islands. On street parking is $3.50 an hour, 2 hours max, 9am to 6pm Monday-Saturday, credit cards accepted. Today is Sunday, so anyone with half a brain is going to take any vacant spot on the street. Make a U turn on Shattuck, and come around the other way. Blocks of filled parking. Turn into Kittredge Street, site of a movie theater, and there is Oxford Garage, rates $2 per hour, and flat $5 rate after 6pm. Go down the ramp to the gate, where I pull out the ticket, which raises the gate bar. In I go, past an empty spot right at the entrance -that's why it is empty, as you would have to maneuver the car around a concrete column, and between another car. Could do it with my 2017 Honda Fit, but not the larger 2017 Honda Civic. Now if there was no parking available, no ticket would appear, and you would be SOL, having somehow to back up your car, with a string of cars behind you, going up to street level! Underground parking garage, shielded from the elements, well lit, but with little cubby holes for parking left and right. We drive around in a circle, finding it about 95% full. Most of the open spots crowded by concrete columns, or crossovers over the parking line. Half way through we find an empty spot next to the elevator, and just do squeeze my compact 2017 Honda Civic into the spot. Small and tight parking spaces, in eco friendly Berkeley, not designed for SUVs nor full size pickups. Take the elevator up to Oxford street, and smell a whiff of urine. Homeless people behind every column right across the street from the University of California campus. Ticket reads 1:09 pm, but by the time we find a parking spot, and walk to Angeline's it's 1:30pm, with a 20 minute wait. 2:45pm finish lunch, and head back to the garage entrance on Kittredge. We try the door to the elevator, but they are locked, and have no choice but to ignore the sign saying "Do not Walk on Ramps", hugging the sides so we don't become road kill for cars coming down the ramps. We plug the ticket into the payment machine, and pay $4 with my credit card for two hours, receiving an exit ticket, which when inserted into the exit booth, raises the exit gate. Drive up the ramp to street level, where a small buzzer rings, notifying pedestrians that a car is coming up the ramp. If you come back after midnight, you are SOL, with the entire parking structure behind closed doors and your car locked up for the night! Parking lots in downtown San Jose open 24/7, but this is Berkeley, with a severe shortage of housing. This is apparently to discourage the homeless from using the garage as overnight sleeping quarters. It is what it is.
