When the year first started I'd have given this school 1 star. I was looking at other schools and…read moreeven *seriously* considering homeschooling. I did not and still do not like the principal - she seems very plastic to me and usually sporting an expression like she has no idea what's going on but is doing a good job of faking it. The very first day when we were doing things "wrong" she in a very rude tone asked had we been at parent/teacher night before school started and we said no we were out of town. I didn't feel like there was a problem as I had spoken to my son's teacher before the first day. But what anyone neglected to mention was anything about procedures for dropping and picking children up so when the principal spoke to us using terms as if we had any idea what she was referring to it furthered my dislike of her. I have since learned this is her very first year not only at this school but as a principal period. That explained a lot. She's desperately trying to show off her capability but is going about it with too much effort so she looks scattered in anything she does. Parents are allowed to drop kid off in the morning after signing in at the office which includes them scanning your photo ID and being given a sticker with your ID and where you will be printed upon it. But parents are not even allowed into the building in the afternoon for pick up - not even the Pre K or kindergartners for supposed security reasons. Why it's different for the afternoon than morning is anyone's best guess. They are constantly begging for volunteers and cannot seem to figure out why they have so few when they have such a cold, unwelcoming, unfriendly policy for/with the parents. The very first week my 5 year old in his first year was given homework! This shock and astounded me in a very bad way. I even asked my father for confirmation and he agreed that when I was in school we didn't start getting homework until second grade. It's a very tedious "chore" to make a child that young sit and do a worksheet or two a night. I'm still not thrilled with it but there's not much I can do unless I do want to remove him from the public school system. I had problems with his teacher at first. My child had never been in any kind of school environment and I made this very well known to her. The 2nd or 3rd week of school she sent a note home 3 out of 5 days saying my child didn't do his work and would I talk to him about that! That upset me in about 18 different colours! What did she want *me* to do about a problem she was having with my child during *her* time with him. I was not going to punish him or curtail any activities because at age 5 he would have already dismissed anything said to him by her earlier in the day. A meeting was scheduled for myself, his teacher and the counselor. Then hurricane Ike hit! The school was closed for a week and two days. They opened a Wed almost 2 weeks before HISD did though the vast majority of teachers' and students' homes still had no power or water. I still find this lapse inexcusable! How could staff members properly prepare for a day with no water or power? How could parents properly prepare their children for school without power or water. Oh they said it was perfectly okay to not being the kids if there was no power or water on - it would just be excused absences. But now my child has 3 absences on his record that I do not think should be there at all! After the time off from the hurricane when he did get back to school my child suddenly got right into the swing of things and all the skills I'd told them he already possessed came shining through. A meeting was scheduled for me his teacher and the counselor only for a different reason this time. They asked was I okay having him go over to one of the First grade classes for reading and having him nominated for the gifted and talented program after the winter break was over? No I have no problem with that at all. I have since volunteered for the book fair {I got horribly sick too}. And have a much better relationship with his teacher and most of the staff. I am not sure if I will ever warm up to the principal ever.

She loves school more than anything, to have your child beg to go to school, happy every morning is priceless. She grew to be a confident and kind girl and I am positive the school had an immense impact on this. I always felt heard, communication with leadership as well as teachers have been amazing. The performances always blow my mind and last years robotic show for first grade surpassed my expectations. Truly recommend.

Then, were so impressed with their handling of the pandemic in 2020 (we experienced no "covid learning loss"), it was an easy decision to stay on for the primary grades. And we have not been disappointed! We continue to have truly great teachers, that you can actually interact with every day at drop off and pickup and build relationships with them. I highly encourage anyone who is interested to schedule a tour or go to one of the open houses. Not only is it a charming environment, you will be amazed at how much more they manage to cover than just the basics. There is a focus on fine arts and performances, which are so great for confidence building. But they also get into robotics, go on cool field trips, and seem to have more fun events and activities than you might get in public school. The summer camp sessions are great, too! We'll be very sad to move on after 4th grade!

There is many lovely things I can say about this school…read more I'll start off by saying the teachers and students are lovely here. Students are respectful, well- mannered, and kind to other peers, no sign of bullying, which is great and rare to see nowadays. It's very easy to make friends here as long as you try talking with others! They will all approach you, too! The program offered here is also highly rewarding and amazing and am so thankful for it. Each student has the opportunity to earn as high as an Associates Degree in this school! You are practically a college student, with a college email with LoneStar, do assignments, pick your classes and schedule, and get many privileges here! Of course it can be challenging, but as long as you do all your work and study on time, you can get great grades, have nice friends, and enjoy all your free time stress free!!! All the High School work is online, therefore it is recommended to bring your own personal laptop, but they also let you use the school laptops which are pretty good too for free! All your college tuition, and textbooks, etc is free too! We use to not have ANYTHING athletically related, but our school is soon starting a soccer team this year and other sports! You have much freedom and advantages in this school, so as long as you behave good and do your best, it will be easy and rewarding at the end! Sadly, there is no transportation or lunch provided, but there are microwaves and vending machines! The only thing I wish they could fix is having more school spirit! I wish we could do things together as a whole school at least on Fridays! Also, I wish we could have more clubs to help in certain careered like maybe a medicine/ health club, LAW club, teaching, technology, ART, journalism, etc. to help people find ways to find a career they are interested in if still indecisive.... Anyways, school is overall amazing with great admin and the school is also very pretty and clean and SAFE!

Room 2 was such a special part of Akila's daycare journey. Both teachers created a warm, nurturing environment that helped her grow in confidence, independence, and curiosity. It was clear every day how much they genuinely cared for the children. Ms. Marcela formed an especially special bond with Akila. Even when I was holding her, Akila would often reach for Ms. Marcela, which speaks volumes about the love, trust, and comfort she felt in her care. In our home, we lovingly refer to Ms. Marcela as "Abuelita" because of the nurturing and grandmotherly presence she has been in Akila's life. Ms. Hind was equally wonderful, and together they made Room 2 feel like a second home. Their kindness, patience, and dedication have left a lasting impression on our family. While we are excited to see Akila continue to thrive in Room 3, we will always be grateful for the foundation Ms. Marcela and Ms. Hind helped build during such an important stage of her development. Thank you for having such exceptional teachers who make a meaningful difference in the lives of the children and families they serve.

Their growth -- academically, socially, and emotionally -- has exceeded every expectation. The teacher‑to‑student ratio is exactly what young learners need. Each child receives thoughtful attention, support, and guidance, and you can see the impact in their confidence and development. The campus itself is calm, kid‑friendly, and has that peaceful, "zen" feeling that makes learning feel natural. Update: Our twins are now heading into kindergarten, and the foundation this school gave them is incredible. They're already comfortable with addition and subtraction, reading, and writing -- skills they learned here through hands‑on Montessori methods. We also love how much the school celebrates community and childhood joy. They host trunk‑or‑treat for Halloween, Thanksgiving feasts, Christmas parties, Valentine's celebrations -- all the fun moments kids look forward to. For Mother's Day and Father's Day, the children make the sweetest photo cards holding letters that spell "Mom" and "Dad." Those gifts have become treasured keepsakes in our home. The school even brings in Santa Claus for pictures during the holidays, which our twins absolutely adored. This is a true Montessori school.
