I am so grateful to have Dr. Asplin as my primary Doctor. She definitely incorporates common sense into her practice (that everyone should be reminded of from time to time). Visiting her is a very different experience than visiting an MD, because she will genuinely care about your life, nutrition, specific health challenges, and overall wellbeing. You get the sense that not only she is very intelligent, but she's also a great person and a Doctor that you can trust. There's still a little ways to go as far as reversing some of my digestive symptoms, but I've never felt better and we've made great progress. His explanations are clear and he answers questions directly. He mines me for information and then works to connect the dots. And he channels his ideas and recommendations within the value boundaries of his patients without compromising his medical analyses or his solutions. The UC health front desk/scheduling system is about as fun as watching paint dry. After a host of issues at the Lone Tree office, they (Lone Tree) submitted a referral to the endocrinology center to further investigate a potential thyroid issue. That referral was submitted 7/30. I went on vacation so I called Shauna on 8/8. She said the referral was still pending and it would probably take a week/ be done in a couple of days. Sounds good, so I called again on 8/12 and spoke to Paige. Still the same response "it's still pending for some reason." Kind of a long time for a referral but hey, idk maybe technical difficulties. The Pavilion called me on 8/14 and left a voicemail. I couldn't get to it and they called me again on 8/19. I called them back probably about a half hour later as I was driving and I was told that I had to speak with Candace, and she was busy on another call. No worries though, she would call me back shortly. I heard nothing the rest of the day so I called back again the next day 8/20. I spoke with a different representative who again for some reason couldn't help me and it had to be Candace. I don't know if Candace is the specific doctor they are trying to schedule me with, or if she is the head front desk lady. The second call the man told me that it takes about 2 business days to get a response; I should get a call back before the end of the week. Well as of 8/30 I have received nothing. No call, no text, not even a message off of the portal. I don't know if it's the front desk not being trained, or if it is a system issue, but to me it shouldn't take a month to JUST GET A CALL FOR AN APPOINTMENT. It's a shame because the UC health doctors seem to be a great quality, but apparently that's where UC health blew their budget and left nothing for the front desk.

(The gastro doctors figured out that I had it but not why.). Dr. Henderson figured out why (Bartonella, I had a low-grade bacterial infection from an insect bite years previous, and that had plagued me for years with the colitis. They also do Pap smears/breast exams so you can bundle your appts. I was tired of being gaslit about my symptoms and just being put on horrible drugs while I waited for my illnesses to "go away their own". The nurses and check in staff are also so lovely and really make me feel welcome. Always come ready to pee! They usually want a sample even if you don't have UTI symptoms.

The person who answered the phone was more interested in my health insurance and if it was a ppo, hmo, etc. My insurance is a self funded plan through my retirement and have seen many providers, even out of state with full coverage. What was interesting is that they wouldn't look me up and was told they don't have the ability to look up health insurance coverage. What a joke, but was told that it's Dr Dunns policy. Not having the ability to look up coverage is not a policy, but rather incompetence. Please check out Dr Dunns multiple disciplinary actions from the state of Colorado department of regulatory agencies website. She's also lost her license to practice in New Mexico. The latest dispensary action from 2020 states, "after review of all the information in this matter, the Panel found that your conduct fell below the generally accepted standards of practice for a physician constituting unprofessional conduct".
