This was my first visit to The Grand Cinema, and it definitely won't be my last!…read more It's a smaller, older independent theater with a lot of character, and I was impressed by how clean and well maintained it was. We came to see Filipiñiana, and from the moment we walked in, the experience felt welcoming. We were greeted right away when we entered, and the staff continued to be friendly throughout our visit. Even when we stopped for popcorn, the service was warm and personable. And speaking of the popcorn... it was honestly some of the best movie theater popcorn I've had! Before entering the auditorium, another staff member greeted us and pointed us in the right direction, which was a nice touch. The theater itself has the traditional upright seats you'd expect from an older cinema rather than the large recliners found in newer theaters. I actually found them quite comfortable, and they fit the intimate, classic feel of the theater perfectly. Overall, I really enjoyed my first experience at The Grand Cinema. I love that it offers an opportunity to see independent and less mainstream films in such a welcoming environment. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on what's playing here and look forward to coming back!

Tacoma Goodwill's Neighborhood Bistro is basically a glorified cafeteria. But it's cafeteria food…read morefor a great cause. From $2.99 to $4.99 per meal, this quick lunch stop can't be beat. Visited the Bistro for lunch this week with Dawn Q. I had the "Chef's Plate" of meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans for $4.99. The food was solid, there was a lot of it, and it was cooked and served by students in Goodwill's job training program. My lunch buddy had a veggie wrap and gave her meal two thumbs up as well. I will definitely be back. I stopped by the Coffee Buzz (Goodwill's barista training program coffee shop) on my way out for a cappuccino from some uber-friendly baristas. The foam was perfection, but the drink took about 10 minutes to get to me. I was prepared for the wait, having known this was a training location, but I heard another customer grumbling about his own wait. To this I say -- chill out buddy! They're training, and you should have known this before coming! I'll be back to the Coffee Buzz as well!

I am pretty disappointed with the Goodwill Milgard Center. I was looking for work retraining…read more After doing my homework with this place and viewing online the PDF page where there was a list of programs I decided on one, having made my plans to enroll, then get employed, perhaps move out of state to join my fiancé who lives in the Midwest. Well guess what? Not only was the page NOT updated but Goodwill doesn't even offer the job training program any more. I emailed the address only to have it bounce back as undeliverable. I called the phone number connected with the job training program only to get an automated voice say that the call can not be connected which I might add was listed as the phone number to call on the Goodwill Milgard PDF page. Way to go Goodwill. Don't understand why the page could not have been updated, I had to waste my time emailing, calling a phone number that wasn't any good. I already am going through a difficult time REAL difficult. I feel that this organization could care less. It's public school all over again. Is it because that you are funded & you have this callous "who cares" attitude? Yet I'm shamed because I don't have a job. The receptionist at Goodwill sure wasn't helpful. Want to know what she said to me when I asked her about the program I was interested in, and she said that the program wasn't offered anymore. I grew a bit irritated, then I was silent. She replies with "Is that It"? This place? Awful! Thanks for nothing!

But, otherwise, I would recommend Ross, Marshalls, tj max, or Burlington. They're all discounted shops that are comparable to the goodwill prices, but they're new. Eg. Ross had a painting for similar size around 25$. This painting is $20. You can find unique items here though.

There are color days that provide 50% off and color days that are 1.99. I notice there is a color thread not the actual ticket. If you have sensory issues then you will need your headphones . The music is kind of loud and overwhelming. It has overpriced candy and ice cream items that you may buy from the ice cream truck. It will have children begging for that stuff because it is at their height level. Please be mindful of that if you have to say no. My husband gave in but I do not know about next time. I love thrift stores but this one was not my cup of tea. It provided a bit of exercise but nothing ready to brag on. I guess it was a day that nothing caught my eye. I like craft items but it was more expensive than Michael's. And with Ross down the street some clothes were more used . There is no way I will buy a shirt or pants more than Ross. Then add the amount of detergent you will need to wash because those things are dusty and need a good cleaning. Well this review is kind of critical but I am picky about going to thrift stores. Sometimes those discount shops have good deals. Shopping at thrift shops require good eyes on a good deal. Otherwise it will vacuum up money from wallet and purses. Be ware!
