My teeth are not in horrible condition, so to think I was being offered an option to have them all ripped out and put in dentures at 38 was absolutely terrifying. I feel like he didn't believe I would stick with the treatment because of my anxiety or didn't think I could afford other options. But what he didn't realize is that I worked myself up for years to finally go to this appointment and I made a promise to myself to see this process through, and I would've appreciated a Dentist that supported that mindset with hope. I believe that is a fraudulent practice. I call my secondary insurance explained what I've had to go through, thankfully they agreed that The Dental Team, did indeed OWE me a refund. My secondary insurance will be contacting The Dental Team to initiate a my refund, in addition, they will also seek the get a refund for themselves as they did pay the part of the claim that was already paid by my primary insurance company. He even removed a piercing I had in my mouth that I couldn't reach myself! I actually woke up at the end and said "am I supposed to be awake right now?" Because it felt like no time had passed. The healing process was... well.. not that fun.. but at my follow up appointment I was shown the proper way to rinse the cavity and ever since then I've felt great - back to normal. 1 Star -- Very Disappointing Experience…read more I was a longtime patient of West Lake Dental, but unfortunately my most recent experience has caused me to decide to take my dental care elsewhere. I arrived for a scheduled cleaning and was told when I got there that I also needed X-rays and an examination by the dentist. I had not been informed in advance that these would be required, so I declined them. I believe patients should be given reasonable advance notice about additional procedures or services. After I declined, I felt that the atmosphere changed considerably. During my cleaning, Michelle became visibly upset and told me a personal story that ended with the statement, "People are assholes." The remainder of my cleaning felt hurried, rough, and uncomfortable to me. I subsequently called the office and asked to speak with Dr. Andy Maples about what had happened. I was told that he would probably call me toward the end of the day. I never received that call. There was also a separate issue involving updated medical records. I was working with Annie to arrange to complete the forms at home because I did not have all of the necessary information with me. During that conversation, the office manager repeatedly interrupted and, in my experience, spoke to me in a disrespectful and scolding manner. I ultimately left rather than argue. I later received a letter from the office manager stating that the office does not allow "abusive" or "inappropriate" language and telling me to find another dentist because I refused to follow the office's procedures. I strongly disagree with that characterization of my conduct. I did not use abusive or inappropriate language toward her. I have been a patient for many years, which makes this experience especially disappointing. I believe patients deserve clear communication, courtesy, and respect when they have questions or decline something they were not previously informed about. I have decided to find another dentist. I am posting this review simply to accurately describe my experience and to let other patients make their own informed decisions.

He redid the crown twice himself, and when it didn't resolve the issue he sent me to a specialist to redo a previous root canal. Unfortunately, even that did not resolve the issue so he replaced it with a bone graft and an implant. I did not even realize how much pain I had been in for over 20 years until he finally fixed it. So for the ones saying he doesn't stand behind his work I have to disagree!! There had to be more to the story!! Give the office a try. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised! She said she would give my message to Dr. Bigus and he would get back to me. It's been two weeks and nothing. I have placed my business with another dentist. My rating reflects my experience with this office's service, not their dentistry competence.
