Which was comforting leading up to my appointment. When I got there however it was pretty much my worst nightmare. The front desk was nice, and super nice when talking about all the options after, but during the appointment I was shuffled around and flatly told that I'm going to need dentures in 5 years. My teeth are not in horrible condition, so to think I was being offered an option to have them all ripped out and put in dentures at 38 was absolutely terrifying. I feel like he didn't believe I would stick with the treatment because of my anxiety or didn't think I could afford other options. But what he didn't realize is that I worked myself up for years to finally go to this appointment and I made a promise to myself to see this process through, and I would've appreciated a Dentist that supported that mindset with hope. I am going to my cleaning. I'm going to update my review as this process goes along. I know a lot of people out there have these same fears and it upsets me with this place claims to be so good with anxiety but handled me with little to no care.

He was fun and witty but also made sure we were well educated on post operative care and the overall procedure. Come the day of procedure, the staff came and gave me updates throughout my wife's procedure letting me know she was ok and responding well to the sedation. They even gave her a water bottle with no straw! (Thank god cause we only own a hydroflask and straws are a no no) and a free 16 oz smoothie. I mean could this place get any better? It does! She later had dry socket on the weekend when the office is closed and Dr. Gresehover responded right away and saw her immediately to apply medication to help with pain.

If you have anxiety, autism, you're a part of the LGBT+ community, or experience anything that might make medical procedures difficult for you, please read this review. I was sent here for a wisdom teeth consultation, and I was very unimpressed. As soon as we walked in; the receptionist was dismissive and offered no context or information. I have never been to an oral surgeon so I did not know what to expect or what was expected of me, and the demeanor of the front desk staff was rude and distracted the entire time. The next thing that struck me was the state of the facility. I have never seen more dirt and grime in a place where hygiene is expected. It didn't even smell clean. I would not trust them with my surgery based on the facility alone. It doesn't bode well for how they clean their tools and equipment. Everything inside is bare bones and uncomfortable. It looked like a shady back alley kind of place. Next, their service model was designed with absolutely no regard for patients who may be dealing with things like anxiety, or neurodiversity. Their fluorescent lights are very bright, with low ceilings that position them directly in your eyes. There was no privacy or soundproofing in the exam room. You could hear everything being said in the building because they had rolling barn doors that didn't fully close, which feels like a privacy violation at minimum. And while I believe in informed consent, it felt as though the providers went out of their way to make me more anxious and afraid of the procedure than I ever needed to be. They then laughed it off saying that the surgery and the video were scarier sounding than they needed to be, so this was not something I imagined. I was visibly anxious throughout the appointment and struggled not to have a panic attack due to the entire sensory experience, and while the assistant was understanding, the doctor was not. He was cold and dismissive, and made jokes at my expense. Additionally I am a male, and my spouse is also male, and while I can't say for certain that this factored in to how we were treated, I am not willing to say that it wasn't a factor either. I was also upset to find out that I was charged 150 dollars for the consultation alone. This felt like an extreme cost, but even worse, a vast majority of the consultation was them showing me an outdated video from the 90's - meanwhile they weren't even in the room. They did nothing to explain the procedure in their own words, or to expand on what was said in the video, meaning they charged me 150 dollars to watch a glorified youtube video. I could have watched the video in my own free time and saved almost 200 dollars. This to me feels like a scam. Without insurance I would have owed them 400 dollars for a 15 minute video. Additionally, the surgery would cost me about 1300 dollars - with insurance - which is very cost prohibitive. They also made it sound like I did not have a choice. They put a lot of pressure on completing the surgery ASAP and heavily implied that I would need it before they had done anything to verify that it would be necessary. The cost wouldn't be as bad if the service matched it, but they are charging that much for a subpar service. They also do not tell you how much the consultation is going to cost until after you've already completed it. Other medical facilities will quote you the cost with insurance coverage beforehand so that you can make an informed decision. I would highly encourage you to go somewhere else for all of the reasons mentioned. By comparison, where I go for my general dental care, the facility is clean, the front desk staff is welcoming and helpful, and everybody goes above and beyond to make you feel less anxious, and more comfortable, so I know for a fact that they can do better here. I will be seeking a second opinion, and my intention is to proceed with the surgery at a facility that can demonstrate efficacy and credibility.

Dr. Maples does an excellent job making me feel at home in his office. He gives me information that is helpful and easy to understand. He remembers things about you, even if he only sees you a few times a year- a sign of someone who genuinely cares about their work. After a procedure, he will call you after his work day is done just to check on how you're feeling. I should say - all his dental techs and the front office are wonderful to talk to as well - they make the whole process easy and pleasant, even if you half of your face is fully immobilized with novocaine. This place goes beyond professional - West Lake Dental provides (bar none) the best service I have ever received from any business, medical or otherwise. Stay cool, WLD!

I have never had any issues with them and they go out of their way to make sure everything is handled professionally, competently and completely. I do NOT find him to be arrogant, quiet maybe. However, if you have questions just ask and he will answer them! I had an issue with a tooth that he did NOT do the original work on. He redid the crown twice himself, and when it didn't resolve the issue he sent me to a specialist to redo a previous root canal. Unfortunately, even that did not resolve the issue so he replaced it with a bone graft and an implant. I did not even realize how much pain I had been in for over 20 years until he finally fixed it. So for the ones saying he doesn't stand behind his work I have to disagree!! There had to be more to the story!! Give the office a try. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!
