Upon arrival they had a large parking lot and the gondola adventure park right there basically in the parking lot. The outside was very beautiful! Upon entering the hotel it was very dated, which I heard in a bunch of reviews. The staff was very helpful and friendly so no issues there. We entered our room and it was ok. My problem was the room felt a little dirty but I'm a germaphobe so maybe it's me who knows. However, the part that grossed me out was opening the bed to find random hairs and tons of grime behind the tv. I also felt like the handicapped room was stupid because the shower was for handicapped people and when using the shower the water basically flooded the bathroom floor which was gross and annoying. I slept the first night with the worst night sleep feeling things crawling on me(I think it was all in my head lol). The next day I was going to look into a different hotel however after talking to the front desk then had management come In and clean and change out bedding which made me feel better. I noticed though that the box spring had a white sheet on it that had what looked like a poop or blood stain that never got changed out as if they leave that and do not change it. The mattresses were also very springy and well used which they really should replace. I honestly just kept questioning if the hotel was dirty or looked really dirty since it's very well loved and needs a overhaul. They have mad potential with this place and could charge a lot more and get more business if they remodel and change out everything including there pictures on the wall which do not even go with the room. This hotel really deserves 2 stars but I'm being nice since I feel this is the best you might get here and it's location(tons of things to do around and restaurants) and the fact they don't charge for parking is a plus. They also have free breakfast included but don't get too excited, it's just a few cereal options, bagels and cream cheese, oatmeal, yogurts, and sausage and egg biscuits which are not good. They also have coffee and hot chocolate available with options as orange juice and apple juice. The water park inside the hotel was pretty cool for my kids and they really enjoyed it! Also, the fact they offered the first floor for families with dogs was really nice as well. The room was pretty chewed up from previous dogs(the bathroom door looked like someone locked there dog in the bathroom and the dog went crazy). They really should fix that and probably should have charged whoever's dog did that damage! If we left our dogs in the hotel while gone they were in there crates so nothing could get destroyed even though my dogs would not do that;). I want to go back here again but praying they revamp this place. It literally could be a 4-5 star hotel if they put some money and elbow grease into it.

The man who entered our room said he had not used a key and that our door was "ajar." That was not what we experienced. We heard the distinct click of the door opening--the sound you would normally associate with someone using a key to enter. When he came into the room, he simply stood there for a moment before saying he had the wrong room and leaving. I confronted him downstairs with the front desk manager present. At that point, he said he had simply been able to push the door open. Our family then tested the door ourselves, and we were able to push it open twice without a key. From both inside and outside, the door appeared to be fully closed and secure, which makes this especially concerning. The hotel manager told us she would investigate and inspect the door. They had freed us no compensation. However, regardless of how the door was opened, a hotel guest being able to enter our room without our permission or a functioning key is an unacceptable security issue. This was a very unsettling experience, particularly because we were traveling as a family and believed we were safely inside our room. This is our first time staying at Hotel Glenwood Springs, and there are definitely some things we really like about it and some things that could be much better. The location is fantastic. The hotel is right next to the gondola that takes you up to Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park, and it's also within walking distance of the attractions and hot springs in the area. One of the main reasons I chose this hotel was because it is dog-friendly, which is important to us. Another big advantage for us is that hotel guests receive 10% discounts at Iron Mountain Hot Springs, Glenwood Hot Springs, and Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park. The front desk staff have been incredibly friendly. There are, however, some significant downsides. The breakfast really needs improvement. I like staying at hotels where breakfast is included, particularly when traveling with a dog because dog-friendly options can be limited. Unfortunately, the breakfast here just isn't good. I'm mean it's awful! We have stayed at both the Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Express just around the corner, and their included breakfasts are far superior. If a good included breakfast is important to you, I would seriously consider one of those hotels instead. Holiday Inn Express is also dog-friendly and has a much better breakfast, although they don't offer the activity discounts that Hotel Glenwood Springs does. The Wi-Fi is another major issue. It has been poor during our stay, and the network isn't password-protected, which isn't particularly reassuring. The rooms are also very dated. They are functional, but don't expect a modern or particularly nice hotel room. The bathrooms are old, the lighting is strange(our light bulbs had to be replaced two days in a row) and the carpeting is gross and overall decor make the rooms feel like they haven't been updated since early 1990's. The lobby has been remodeled, so there is a noticeable difference between the newer lobby and the older rooms. There is no way to come out of the tiny bathroom and not get on the carpet. Who puts carpet in hotel rooms when the main activity are hot springs.... Either way the carpet is musky from water. Gross! We haven't used the swimming pool yet, but it appears to be popular. It's essentially a little mini water park, and we've seen quite a few people using it whenever we've walked by. The hotel also has a water bottle filling station, which I really appreciate. Bring a reusable water bottle when you come to Glenwood Springs, you'll want one, especially with all the walking and being at this elevation. Would I stay here again? NO! Between the horrible breakfast and the room door having a security issue, that's enough that location and activity discounts don't make up for. Now add in bad WiFi and severely outdated carpeted rooms, and hallways full of cigarette smoke - it's a hell no!

Even though check-in wasn't until 3:00 PM that afternoon, they let me check in right then and there without hesitation so I could get my son ready for school. I've stayed in three different rooms now, and every single one has been spotless with a lovely view. The amenities are incredibly convenient--having the washer and dryer right there in the lobby area is a lifesaver. The indoor pool is also a highlight; it's a beautiful, bright area with windows all around it. Most importantly, they are exceptionally pet-friendly. My dogs feel very comfortable here, and there is a great, convenient area to walk them. If you're looking for a place that offers true comfort, cleanliness, and a staff that actually cares about their guests, this is it.

Two toilets, two shower stalls with hooks galore (finally, somewhere to hang the 57 things I bring into a shower). A bench for your stuff = chef's kiss. Double sink setup outside the stalls is a bonus. I didn't expect to have better lighting here than in my actual house. Campsite: long, shaded, and solar panel-friendly. No picnic table, which I did pout about for 30 seconds until I realized I never sit at them anyway. Full hook-ups for those of us who like our nature with a side of electricity. ‍ Staff was great--we got a friendly check-in call around 10am and were offered a personal site tour near Tractor Supply (iconic). Husband backed us in like a pro, no stress. Gold star to him. No individual fire pits at RV sites, which we get--it's dry enough to ignite a marshmallow by looking at it wrong. Communal pits by the office if you're feeling social or want to channel your inner cowboy. There are some long-term residents, which wasn't an issue, but might be nice to have visitors grouped separately--just for the ambiance. Birds and nature sounds = A+. Trains and road noise = present, but meh. By the time we hit the sack, we're toast anyway. Camping sleep hits different.
