Just as we were thinking of something else to do the door opened and we were told they would open for us. We absolutely loved touring through seeing all the cars and antiques. Every act was incredible--everyone is so talented. Favorites acts of the night were: the Dogs, the trapeze, the kids who practice and perform at the City Museum, the runners...you'll just have to come and see! Don't miss the human cannonball during intermission. We did eat any of the food, but the prices seemed reasonable, medium for inflation prices.

Outside the venue, they have concessions with food, drinks including those with alcohol. I didn't think it would be as big on the inside as it is. Plenty of seating and while I say in the center row, it still felt like I was really close to the action. So many great acts to see and they kept the crowd entertained with corny jokes here and there which makes it very family friendly. That pull members from the audience up keep them engaged which is nice. Every act was cool too see because it takes a lot of practice and patience to master the level they exhibited to us. (They often will waive parking with the purchase of a movie ticket at that their theatre ) This science center has an OMNI IMAX movie theater inside on level 3 , cafes , gift shop, shows and too many hands on experiences to list with so many neat artifacts . There's ample parking for patrons and the building itself has high ceilings for lots of air circulation. On my visit they had a small stage for the talent to speak about their experiences as well as a separate room for signings/photos. The space is very intimate and while they did not use the 2nd floor for the convention there's room to grow if they did! Overall, a nice space for nerds to gather!

We enjoyed a visit to the largest archaeological site in the U.S…read more Quick visit advice: Park at the visitor center or across the street at Monk's Mound (if there are any spots in this smaller lot). Walk to and up Monk's Mound, which is the largest. I recommend reading the signs about the history of the mounds. Background: I visited just after finishing a book called "America Before" by Graham Hancock. He extensively covers the geoglyphs (mounds) across the Americas and describes their site-line survey complexity. They are basically dirt mound versions of Stonehenge, and line up with solar events during the equinoxes. The amount of precision from an ancient hunter-gatherer society is absolutely fascinating. I highly recommend a read before visiting.

I mean it does look like just a big hill but... As a history buff, I thought it was kind of cool. We climbed the stairs to the top (great work out, a couple folks were doing just that) to get a view of the area. Not much at all is built up around this area, the small town that it is located in is barely a blip before you enter the St. Louis metropolitan area. It is actually pretty remarkable how rural this area is being only miles outside of St. Louis. Anyways, I tried to get my kids to understand that the people that built these mounds did not have Bobcats, dump trucks, or any huge equipment. We are talking woven baskets and such. Still not impressed. At least we stood on the top and say we have been there. I suggest you do the same. Check it off the list and say you once stood on one of the tallest pre-Columbian structures in North America. Can't say that every day!

Upon arriving to St. Louis (and the state of Missouri) for the very first time, the very first…read moresight I went to visit was the Missouri History Museum so I could get a baseline understanding of some local and state history. Admission into the museum is FREE and it's located in Forest Park - the home of the 1904 World's Fair (something which to this day continues to leave its mark on the city). It's a great way to spend a few hours and I genuinely had no idea how much industry and inventions came out of the city. The museum had four core exhibits open at the time I went exploring - one on one of St Louis's historic African American neighborhoods, various St Louis artifacts through the centuries, a children's wing, and of course a whole wing devoted to the 1904 World's Fair. The museum is also home to one of the first ever statues/monuments dedicated to Thomas Jefferson. The museum was a great introduction to the city and state and enabled me to really enjoy the rest of my time in the city. Check it out!
