Okay, so the reviews below have pretty much got this business covered…read more But I have a little nugget of information about this place which needs to be shared. Not only do they sell a wide range of Ugg boots - metallic silver and gold styles included - they also sometimes include them in very generous sales. So every once in a while it's worth popping into Greaves, heading up to the second or third floor, and checking out the state of their Ugg prices. One time I was greeted with a beautiful pair of gold Uggs for the bargain price of £60. Let me put this in context for you, they're normally a HUNDRED and sixty. Sadly, they only had them in size 8. I did try them on, but even I had to concede that with my size five feet I looked like a clown. Definitely worth checking though!

I've been there a few times, and every time, I found exactly what I was looking for, and that I could not find elsewhere. From gift rugby/football jerseys to swimming or running equipment, I always found exactly what I was there for. The staff is very friendly and takes the time to help you properly. The range of brands and items is not as large as in other stores (but if you want more choice, their other glasgow store is a bit bigger I think!), but it is still 4 stories of products and as I said, there will be what you are after! (Ok, you can blame me if it's not the case:)) In terms of price, well it's all mainly big brands, so you won't find cheap deals there, but you can be certain it's going to be top quality.

I…read moredon't know about you, but for me I am (solely) motivated by purchasing pretty new exercise clothes, which is how I ended up taking a detour into Sweaty Betty one Friday afternoon. First things first - this shop is baltic hot roasting warm. I guess it's called Sweaty Betty for a reason. I felt like I'd done a class of Bikram Yoga by the time I left, and that was just from having a browse. Now, onto the clothes. These aren't your dull, uninteresting workout clothes. They're bright, colourful, stylish and very drool-worthy. They also sell sneakers, workout accessories like running gloves and yoga mats. The downside is the price - you aren't talking cheap stuff here, as a pair of leggings will set you back around anywhere between £40 - £90. I got chatting to the staff members who are possibly the friendliest people on the planet and they told me about the free fitness classes offered in-store. Free, you say - that sounds like my kind of thing. There's yoga, HIIT and a special class called Fly, Flex, Flow which they are just doing for a few weeks. To get into these classes you need a Sweaty Betty card (free) and you sign up online. I'm definitely going to give one a try and then treat myself to some shiny new leggings as a reward.

Sweaty Betty is a haven for me, so many gorgeous clothes and colours and stuff I would happily wear shopping or to lunch post gym. Confession, I've never bought clothes from here. But knowing friends who have, the stuff is great quality. (I'm just waiting for pay-day, and a sale is currently on, so will make a purchase soon and re-review.) I visited here thanks to Denise telling me about an event to do with nutrition and sport, also sponsored by Juice Warrior and Healthy Nibbles. The staff from all companies were great, but the lady from Sweaty Betty who had a PhD in Nutrition led the talk and was so honest. It's lovely to see a brand have passionate employees who were all forms of gym-goers, from runners, to yogis. They also offer free circuit classes, yoga, and runs. Just check on the blackboard beside the changing room.

If you've been to a Lululemon in the states or Canada, please note that this is a showroom. It's very small and does not often carry the latest styles or prints. They do carry all the staples and typically have quite a few items marked down (you have to keep an eye out for the purple stickers). The only downside to Lulu in the UK is the pricing. The only difference on the tags is the currency sign in front of the number. If a pair of wunder unders is priced at 98#s that means that it retails for $98 USD. It's definitely a huge jump in price, but if you need the items that bad you'll pay the increase in prices. They offer free community classes on Saturdays and Sundays and frequently feature new recipes and exercies on their Facebook page. If you're new to Glasgow and are eager to join the fitness world stop into the store and check out the variety of information they have about various studios and clubs in the area! One last thing - they do not accept cash under any circumstances. Cards only. Prepare accordingly.

I first came here for one of their Sunday boot camps, a challenging free class that both my boyfriend and myself could take part in. After the class, we had a nice chat with staff members and fellow class participants over some snacks delivered by the Whole Foods Market. Months later, we returned for some wardrobe update (mainly for the boy, but hey, those rose patterned leggings were just meant for me). Not only did we get all the help and advice we needed, but the girls even remembered us and greeted us like friends they just didn't see for a long time. Absolutely amazing!

Mainly formula one and related car sports - this place does have some quite funny t-shirts. My favourite is the one that says very simply "I am the Stig." My mum keeps threatening to get one and wear it entirely for the purpose of making my brother cross. To be honest, it would probably be worth it. (Even though this shop isn't very cheap...) Great for gift buying - here you'll find a t-shirt suitable for even the most difficult to please man in your life. Also worth a trip just for a bit of entertainment!

All I could see in this store was a shrine to The Stig. You would think he was the 21st century Jesus the way his status is elevated in Wheels of Sport. Stig tees, mugs, life-sized cut outs - can't be avoided. There was probably another limited amount of stock in here not relating to The Stig. I suppose there is, and if you're interested in F1 then you might enjoy it. I for one can't stand it, hence my review. I don't mind a bit of Top Gear every now and then, but I only tune in for the cross country races with planes and suchlike. If you like The Stig, you'll find this place a hoot. Otherwise, you'll pretty soon learn that its specialised formula is somewhat limited, and you'll swerve by it.

There's alot of cool gear in here though, including cool hats and some really funky backpacks. I almost bought one, but decided against it when I mentally calculated how much money I have spent this week (lots). The staff didn't get in my face which was cool for an outdoors sort of store, where I have been hounded before in Tiso for e.g. A nice shop, with lots of good stock for guys and gals.

Although it can be quite pricey, they have lovely outdoor wear, ski and snowboard gear, bikinis and summer wear, luggage, and accessories. They stock Quicksilver and Roxy girls clothing, as well as Tony Hawk branded gear. It's a small store, but packed full of cute summer clothes and beautiful luggage. It's a shop I frequent more to covet items in than to actually shop at, but for that much, it's worth it to me. The staff are lovely and helpful, and if you're looking for something specific will probably prove to be very knowledgeable. I haven't come in here shopping for snowboarding gear, but I did have a conversation with one of the staff and they knew what they were talking about. Personally I love the luggage, sunglasses, and summer clothing ranges they stock here. It's like going on holiday without the hassle of travelling; even if you are just in the Buchanan Galleries to hide from the inclement weather conditions. Love it.

If looking for running shoes, don' let the eerily quite shop put you off, the staff are very knowledgeable. They will assess your gait by watching you walk up and down then a little jog, which is all done inside the shop, where they will then bring an assortment of different shoes for you to try, while they assess how you walk again. They will talk of things like pronation of the foot, as it is likely that everyone has a little of it. It is great to hear your condition explained to you. They give recommendations on brand for fit and your foot requirements. It was nice to know that they even recommended the cheapest pair of trainers which I was swithering over, so they are not money hungry corporate monsters that they could be. Specialised running shoes are rather pricey, but they are so beneficial to your joints whether it is walking, road, or cross country running you would like to do. If you do have over pronation like me, there are different sorts of shoes you can buy too which will act as a sort of physiotherapy for your foot and strengthen your muscles. I didn't buy any or my bill would have been huge, but I am not saying I am not still thinking about it. I needed to kill some time and also was still in thinking mode about some Christmas present ideas. I stopped outside Waterstones and though 'ach I'll hiv a wee nosey' so I came across some audio books and a staff member pointed me in the direction to more. I explained I was looking for something my dad and she suggested a couple for me. Well he absolutely loves them. Yay! I just want to thank the kind girl who helped me out. I was struggling for ideas and just didn't know where to begin as there's just sooo many titles. I also asked on the off chance to see if they had the Yo! Sushi cookbook at a cheaper price rather than purchasing it from Yo! Sushi themselves. Unfortunately they didn't have it in stock but the Sauchiehall Street branch did but it was about 9.30ish and it wasn't on my route to the restaurant I was heading to. It was the same price too so was best just to nip round the corner and get it out the restaurant. The staff were very helpful and took their time to help me even though it was near to closing time. Athough not as well stocked as Sauchiehall Street it catered my unexpected needs.

I used to love book shops when I was a child and teenager then as I became a young adult I began to favour the music/record shop instead, but it wasn't down to just me being more into music than books it was down to the whole shopping experience. I found music shops exciting and book shops then a bit dull and staid. When the 1st e-books & mighty Amazon/online book shops came on the scene the poor high street book shops had to either re-invent themselves or suffer like the many record shops sadly did with the increase of mp3's/online music. Waterstones were one of the big players in the book shop scene and thankfully they chose to up their game. This particular shop has been very successfully re-invented & I wouldn't have even known had I not decided to pop in one day just out of interest (and admittedly to kill some time before my bus!) I remember it being a bit boring a few years ago when I came in but now it's so much better. It's split over 3 levels and the ground floor now has a really great gift and stationary section. I found some super cute washi tape and wrapping paper that was ideal for some home wall designs I had in mind. Also they had many other lovely greetings cards and gifts of all sorts including Scottish themed bits & bobs for the tourists and your family members or friends who live outside of Scotland. The book displays themselves make you want to engage with the books and touch them; something that I think is SO important when shopping. I hate shops where I feel as though I am browsing a museum with products that have a invisible 'Do not touch' sign in front of them. Bah. Hell no. I'm a tactile person (hello!) when it comes to shopping so I like to FEEL everything and books feel (and smell!) really good. The covers, the embossed/raised fonts, the flick of the pages, the shiny and matte coverings...I know the old saying is 'You shouldn't judge a book by its cover' but damn! A great book cover can make or break a book in my opinion! Another touch I like here is that the staff members have their own tags they can use to put on books they particularly like with a mini review. I know Borders used to do this & I always really liked it. The staff here (and all the other Waterstones too) are also really lovely & friendly. Whenever I've had any questions they've always been super helpful and informative & they've never acted as though I am a nuisance or asking a ridiculous question. They also have a cafe here serving Matthew Algie coffee and they're open most nights until 7pm making this a perfect wee place to stop off after work for a wee swatch at some books, a coffee and wee read too before you head home. They also have book signings and a monthly book group too. You can also order books online if they maybe don't have them in stock and earn some points if you sign up to their card at the same time. If you chose to pick the books up yourself from a store it's free so no p&p to pay. Nice one! Nice work Waterstones, you've made book shopping a truly fun experience again.
