Mind you, the bucket was a nice touch because it actually reminded me of those pubs I visited in London which all have buckets just inside the door. It is a fairly small pub, but the décor is also reminiscent of the pubs back in England, and it even has a smoking deck on the second level, which does get fairly crowded on a Friday night. The drinks aren't all that cheap, but at least they have the standard fare, which does detract a bit from its authenticity, Still, I quite like this little place, even though it can get a little crowded, if only for its cosy atmosphere.

The cocktail (Rosita) was mediocre and maybe this is an Australian thing, and if so forgive me, but it came pre-mixed. I don't expect a $26 cocktail in an empty bar to be poured out of a pre-mixed jug. And the bartender was as surly as they come. Sitting an an empty bar, he didn't even say hello. The waitress took my order, relayed it to him, and he slapped in the counter as if I was ruining his night with my presence. (I was the only one seated at the bar; only one other party was in the place at 8:30 PM on a Tuesday night). There are places in the states where you pay for that sort of distain, but I wasn't expecting it here.

I came here with some former colleagues of mine and we all enjoyed our meals. I love that this place offers not one but TWO vegan options, and both are clearly marked on the menu -- the zucchini and macadamia burger, and the quinoa and black rice salad. I'm almost always in the mood for a burger over a salad, so I went with the burger. You have to specify vegan, so they'll take the cheese off and put it in a pumpkin-seed vegan bun ($2 extra -- their regular buns are not vegan). The zucchini and macadamia burger was delish. I really enjoyed it and would happily go back and order it again. Not wild about paying $2 extra for a vegan bun, but given the owner of this place also owns Father's Office and their vegan burger didn't even COME with a bun (sorry lettuce wrap, I require carbs) -- really, I didn't mind paying the extra two dollars. Staff was knowledgeable and accommodating, but the food was painfully slow to come out. That's my only real gripe with this place. The atmosphere is amazing (thanks to the historic charm of the building), the food is tasty, the service was nice enough, but the food was way too slow to arrive. Not great if you're in the middle of a work day and just wanted a lunch that would take around an hour or less. This lunch took closer to an hour and a half, and I'd say the restaurant was about 60-70% full, not completely full. So I wouldn't advise coming here when you're in a hurry to get back to the office. Other than that, though, we really enjoyed our meals and the experience. I'd definitely recommend it.

I drank pints and pints of the stuff until my jeans didn't fit anymore, and realised I was better off without such a delicious drink in my life. I moved back to Australia and I thought I'd never drink my beloved Fruli again, but one evening at the European I saw it there on the menu and realised we had some unfinished business together... I'm not a beer connoisseur by any stretch of the imagination, but I appreciate the Euro's dedication to bringing the best from the old world to our stomachs. It's a fun spot to spend time picking random drinks and then drinking them, and as such it can get pretty loud later in the evening. The European is unpretentious and welcoming to all - an easy night out. Tip: wear loose pants. You'll need room for your stomach to grow.

I also ordered a resiling, which was good and paired well. I had a lot of issues paying with "The Pass" app at this establishment. I was also supposed to have $10 paying with the app, which I see now, did not apply. You also do not interact with your server much at all. You order off the app, and then wait for someone to bring out your beverage and then possibly someone else to bring out your food. Food was quite good, but the app (which is the city app) is very faulty!

There is two different types of atmosphere, the dining room stiff chair experience with a wonderful courtyard view and more attention from the wait staff, probably because of the easy line of site. Or you can choose for the booths along the wall, mostly hidden by a supporting wall that they've cut holes out of as much as possible. I prefer the booth. What you loose in service standard (in time only) you make up for in reduced noise, nicer ambience and seriously comfortable dining. It is true that you will have to work harder for attention but if you grew up with brothers and sisters I'm sure you'll be fine. Like many places in the Paris end of town this spot has a wonderful wine list and there's something good for everyone (from $47 to ~$1k) and most of the people there can help you with matching wine to your food. If not, have the steak, it's yummy (professional term). Seriously though, I strongly recommend sitting in a booth with your work colleagues with a bottle of wine and a burger, it makes any disagreement you're having seem much more trivial and by the time you reach the dregs of the second bottle I'm sure they'll see it your way ;-)
