At this point, it'd be zero stars if possible. For starters, the owner is rude; the way he speaks to people is very unprofessional, and he sounds unhinged. As far as my phone is concerned, we've taken it back 3 times, and the phone still isn't fixed. First it was the screen, then it was the charging port, then it was the mic. I'm over $300 into a phone that's barely worth that, and it's still not fixed. The phone's screen still isn't working right; it still glitches out, can't click on things at times, and it blacks out periodically. When it's on speaker, the other end gets a ton of feedback, which wasn't happening before. And nothing was wrong with the charging port before, but for some reason they said it needs to be changed. I've called back and explained all this, and they just say that there isn't anything they can do. I'm willing to put up with not diagnosing the problem properly the first time; it's not a great sign considering it's like 50% of the profession, but I get that not all problems are created equal and it can take some work to properly drill down to the problem, but 3 "fixes" and it's still not fixed is getting to be a little much. I'm not willing to deal with rude service, specifically from the owner. I've gone to them for years as problems have occurred with my handheld devices, as they're just around the corner; however, there are so many places to get a phone/tablet fixed in this city, I think moving forward I'll find a different place. Other places are just as quick and cheaper without the attitude-filled owner, especially if they're using less-than-quality parts, which may be the issue here. read more

My heart sank when I heard my Pixel 7 phone hit the pavement...I knew instantly, by the sound, that it was going to be bad news this time. It was. The screen protector was shattered and the phone was black screened...ie, dead. After removing the shattered screen protector, the actual screen didn't have a scratch on it. After working on it for a while I was able to get the screen to turn on, but it was damaged in that it had a big white line and a large and growing purple bruise moving up the screen. The screen would not respond to touch at all. My heart sank. I've had smart phones for years, dropped them on occasion, but never broke one until now...and of course, the warranty had run out a few weeks ago. After spending the evening researching repair places, I decided to drive clear across town to Cellular Magician, on Dundas. I'm glad I did. The reason I decided on going there, was from reading the reviews, in particular...the one star reviews. I was impressed that Chad took the time to answer each one and give a clear explanation to each complaint. I've worked retail and know you can't please everybody, 100% of the time...no matter how hard you try. I also know enough about electronics to know when the responses are honest or not. Anyway, I was impressed by his thoughtful and truthful responses. Back to the phone...They had the OEM part in stock and I was told that it usually took about 2.5 hours for the repair. He also gave me a tip on getting back across town without hitting all the road construction, which was GREAT advise BTW. The phone was ready for pick up just short of the 2.5 hours!! Nice!! But did it work as it should? It sure did. It was as good as new. Not a scratch anywhere and the screen, finger print access, face recognition...everything worked perfectly...and all data intact. These people are not professionals like they advertise, quite the opposite!. I called in around 2:30 to get my camera fixed, I specifically said I had a crack in my camera and I wanted the line to go away. I was told to bring my device in and we would go from there. No problem. I did that, was told it was my lens, and to pick up my device 10 minutes to 5. When I arrived my device still wasn't fixed and they asked for more time which they later threw in my face, as if I didn't waste my own time and money as well, doing business with these circus clowns. The only reason they are still in business is because they manage to get by doing basic screen repairs, anything more I would not trust these people to do, they don't have the skill set or patience. They will mess up the job and then blame you. After being told that they were not able to fix my device, I was called an asshole in the store by Chad because I was questioning the fact that I had to pay $85 for an issue that was not fixed when I picked up my said device. What do you call it when someone takes your money without holding up their end? Fraud. To make matters worse, I was told it was MY fault because I didn't know what exact piece needed to be fixed. I am not the self proclaimed "technician". I assumed that my device was in the hands of educated individuals but I was very, very wrong. I see now that anyone can call themselves a technician after watching a few YouTube videos. They have no clue what they are doing in this place, business wise, people wise, & with electronics. I was not offered any discount, and no means of finding a middle ground. Instead, I got a ton of attitude from Chad and his circus monkey in the back. I got my mom to come in and record the conversation between me and chad and I am very glad I did that because he started screaming at us until he was red in the face. I have and will continue to share this with those I know. I also have a video of the circus monkey asking me if "I fixed my camera" as a means of making fun of the fact that I had paid for an issue that they did not fix, but were paid to fix. I took my iPhone 8 to cellular magician for a problem with my camera and they replaced the camera within 2 hours and it was brand new. It was also only $90, although they did call and tell me there was a problem with my speaker when calling when there wasn't, they had asked if I wanted to spend $30 more to fix the problem they found. I said no because I had never noticed the problem, so when I got my phone back I tried it and it worked perfectly fine. I didn't appreciate them trying to get me to spend more on something that didn't need to be fixed but they did a great job fixing my phone and they were very kind! read more

(I am writing this for both the St. Thomas + London Location) Easily the WORST customer service I had ever dealt with. Who ever answers the phone needs to learn how to speak to people kindly and also how to turn up the volume because I could barely hear him. WORST Communication with customers and I was charged for a diagnostic when on you website it is free. Learn to talk to people who aren't so Tech Savvy in words we understand because it 100% feels like they use complicated terms + phrases to get you into spending more. I am generally an understanding person. But I have never had a worse experience with a business in my life. All that was wrong with my Laptop was the charger. I brought it in to see if maybe my charging port was having issues... St Thomas Location said they did not have the proper cable to test it and they might have one in london, so i left it with them assuming that the London location would send them the cable. Then without informing me they sent my laptop to london. I was sent a text message from (who i'm assuming was) London that they wanted me to bring in my laptop charger and see what the issue with that was. I brought it to St. Thomas (because thats where I THOUGHT they had my laptop) and they said "yeah the cable looks pretty messed up, the london location should be done looking at your laptop in a few days and they will call you" I was not told it would be sent to london for such a simple task of .... plugging in a charger, nor did i understand why it would take a couple days to just plug it in.... but I didn't say anything. The next day i called and said I wanted my laptop back since it was my CHARGER that was the issue and they had no clue i even had brought it in. Teach your techs how to send a simple email maybe?? The lack of communication on what was going on with my laptop was a huge red flag and I then just wanted it back so i Called AGAIN and asked where it was and I will drive to pick it up, and they for some reason... couldn't tell me because he was SOOOO busy to tell me a street name? So I waited for 1 1/2 hours and then finally got a text of the location. And low and behold when i went in they told me they don't even had the proper charger!!!! Never once did a tech look at my laptop for the 2 days they had it, and then I got charged 40$, for them to literally plug in a cable. Worst service I have received in a long time. I dropped off my Apple Watch for a screen repair. The face had come detached from the watch mechanism. Because it is an older Apple Watch I asked for a quote on whether it needed a new battery or just adhesive to reattach the face. I was already aware that with older Apple Watches sometimes the battery expands and forces the face off and wasn't sure I wanted to put too much money into an older Apple Watch. The person I dropped my watch off with said he didn't service Apple Watches. He made a phone call and said that if the watch needed a new battery it would be $125 but if it didn't, it would be less. All I wanted was a quote after someone had actually looked at it. When I called back to ensure I was going to receive a phone call with a quote before the repair was done, I was spoken to rudely by Chad and told that he would make my watch available for pick up if I did not want to pay to have it repaired. I don't think it is uncommon to ask for a quote before service work is completed so that I can make an informed decision as to whether I want to go ahead or not. I then received a call the next day that my watch was ready for pick up. I called back and asked if there was a quote on the repair and Chad proceeded to tell me how busy he is and how many technicians he is short and that I had told him the previous day that I did not want my watch repaired. When I tried to explain calmly that I simply wanted a quote once the watch was looked at before they went ahead with the repair, Chad lied and said he had already told me it needed a new battery. When in fact the day before he told me my watch was at the Dundas location and the person who services Apple Watches is not working right now because he had surgery. Dealt with different locations (St Thomas, London on Dundas) more than a couple times, and every time they gave me a product that stopped working shortly thereafter. For example, most recently I had my iPhone screen repaired (for two hundred and fifty (hecking) dollars) only for the backlighting to stop working, effectively leaving the bottom corner of my screen darker than the darkness settings allowed it to go. After reading the reviews of people who have gone back and received yet another broken "repair," I opted not to go. After dropping my phone from waist height, the screen started to "bleed" black from the bottom and vertical lines appeared along the length of the screen. I had a phone in to get repaired due to another shop leaving a screw out and the facetime mic wasn't working (unsure if it was prior to the repair) . So I got these guys to 'fix' it. They didn't want to touch the mic as it might screw something up and is attached to some other vital component in some way that 'if messed up can screw it up permanently' . so of course they want to replace the board - ooook I let them do that, now my phone is automatically pressing buttons on Interactive Voice Recordings (Menus). as well as people are always telling me I sound 'far away' or 'can't hear you'. I called them and they said to bring it in, so I did and told them it was basically worse then before - well the guy flipped out saying I was insulting him and what good work they do etc. etc. I said I was stating a fact and not trying to insult. well he flipped out and said take my phone and go and never come back. (like he has to worry about me taking any phone or anything at all back to that shop) Guy has no idea about customer service - could have just fixed the phone (his entire business is fixing phones) and if there was any extra charge it could be discussed/taken care of. I have had Cellular Magician fix my phone many times in the past and was happy with the service, so when it stopped taking a charge recently I took it there yet again. Right away, the guy at the counter had unprovoked attitude with me (I believe he's the owner). He told me to come back the next day in the afternoon. When I got there the next day, he hadn't looked at it yet, so I went and killed some time and returned. He said he had tried a new charging port but wasn't able to fix it, told me that my phone was old so they didn't have a new battery to try. They were very busy, and I didn't believe he had even tried to fix my phone. So I bought the charging port on Amazon for $20, watched a YouTube video on how to replace it, and managed to fix it myself! Not that difficult. My phone works fine now. Basically, I believe he lied to my face. It wasn't very hard to fix, and I saved a bunch of money. I don't appreciate having my time wasted and being lied to, though. My 4 month old cell phone's screen was broken because it fell of the bed and wouldn't turn on and I took it to Cellular Magician on June 2, they said I would get it back June 12th. I get it on the 15th, no big deal, except I paid over $280 and my phone was still broken and the screen wouldn't turn on so I brought it back. I wait until the 28th, with no word, no call or anything, and ask for my phone back and a refund because they didn't fix my phone, and it was taking too long (they didn't even call me to give me an update or ask what to do next)... they had all month to look at it. Chris calls his manager Diane, gives me the phone and I ask for the refund but then she goes on to say that the motherboard is messed up and that the part they put in was fine (why didn't they tell me this when they first found out???) ... The phone only fell from three feet, the screen was just cracked, I'm pretty sure their technician messed up the motherboard either taking off the old screen and putting the new one in, how does the motherboard get ruined from it dropping three feet? To top it off, Diane says I don't know what I'm talking about, and says there is no consumer protection agency in Ontario that protects consumer's rights (there is). She said, and I quote "If you don't listen to me I'm going to deem your phone unrepairable and you won't get your refund". I am definitely putting in a consumer complaint for unethical conduct - nobody's allowed to coerce anyone like that. After waiting over two hours for the "one hour carrier service" they supposedly use, they give me back my phone screenless and only give me a partial refund, charging me over $50 for a service they didn't provide. I am still livid about the way Chad treated me in 2017 after gutting my phone and taking parts off of it when I told him the screen his employee installed onto my phone didn't work. Their response was to refund me $200 of the $280 I paid and gave me back a phone with no screen and no parts to connect another screen onto (this was done so that they could reuse the screen next time, but left my phone useless). When I asked to speak to the manager or owner, the owner Chad refused to speak to me and only spoke to my boyfriend - I think he did this because he is a misogynist and did not want to make his situation worse for himself by calling me names. When my boyfriend was able to explain the situation and that we were going to take our case to the Canadian Consumer Agency to file a complaint and sue him, Chad said he would only give me a replacement phone if I went into the Cellular Magician Store in Western Bookstore on Western Road to meet him personally. At this point, I was having no more of his crap and I told him he can either give my boyfriend the phone or I will be taking everything to the Consumer Agency and filing a formal complaint and suing him. He finally gave my boyfriend a phone but the phone was defective and did not work for longer than a month - so kudos for ripping me off Chad. I noticed he changed his google settings so my google review has been deleted, but I am copying and pasting my story to all the review places available. I posted my story to my facebook and found out Chad tried to claim large quantities of money was stolen out of his car when he left it at a dealership for repairs - but there is proof nobody touched his car because of 24/7 video surveillance. Chad still made my friends life hell for two weeks because he was trying to scam a dealership with a false theft claim and legit tried to pin it on bottom line dealership staff. I took it home not only to have it start acting up a few days later. I took it back in and they had told me I had managed to " break" the inside of the phone yet the outside was perfectly fine. I brought my brand new HaoBook140 to cellular magician believing There might have been an issue with my laptop as I was having issues connecting to my home wifi. When bringing the laptop in initially this was explain and the gentleman stated that he knew exactly what was wrong and quoted me $85.00 and said it would be ready in 3 days which I found a little strange as he hadnt actually turned on or looked at the laptop yet. Against my better judgement I left my laptop with them and expected a call within a few days. After 2 weeks I still havent heard anything back from them so called and was answered with an electronic message stating that I shouldnt worrry if its taking longer then usual as this is common and I could expect a call soon and to hang up. soon after I discover there was nothing wrong with my laptop but i was incorrectly trying to connect to the home wifi system. I then am curious as to why they still have my laptop and have not callled and contacted them to let them know I was coming to retrieve my laptop. I was told that they did not have any information on myself and that there was not even a laptop similar to mine in the store. We tried figuring out what the information could be listed under at which time I enquired as to if he could look up my laptop using my phone number which he then confirmed he would try. After doing this he found the account started for my laptop and stated he could not give me the laptop as it was not even in the store but at another location. I quickly asked why this would be and he stated that they tried to call me but my phone rejected them which it does not do, and that they were unable to fix my laptop or work on it as the cord was not standard and that they needed me to provide it, even though it was offered when first dropping it off and was rejected and i was told they had one and even though my laptop was already charged with 20hrs worth of battery which was a feature of this brand new laptop. I was extreamly concerned at this point and asked exactly where my laptop was and that I was going to retrieve it immediately. I was told it was at another location on the other side of the city and i would have to go and get it myself.I became even more concerned when investigating my phone before heading to the location and realizing they had not tried to call and were in fact lying on that particular point of information. When getting to the other location I demanded my laptop back and enquired as to why it was at there store and what was going on. The gentleman stated that it wouldnt turn on as the problem and looked and noticed the sticker on it stating the same. I got very upset and stated that was not what it was brought in for and that it had no issues turning or staying on at all when first bringing it to them. I also stated that it had 20 hrs of power on it so the cord could not be the issue unless someone had been using it for that duration of time. He just shrugged and stated he diud not know. In giving them the benifit of the doubt on the cord story I plugged the laptop in the entire evening and checked it in the morning. In the morning I went to turn on my laptop to see what was going on and now discovered my laptop would now not turn or stay on which was never an issue and could not even load up. I was very suspicious now and called a friend of mine in kitchener who is an IT and had him travel down and have a look and try to explain to me what might have been done. When trying to turn the laptop on several times and taking a closer look he told me he suspected they had stole the ram which was extreamly large for a laptop as its a first year model and that this was big business right now and that some places would even try to add spywhere after attaching lower ram to fool the user into believing it contained the same amount of ram and that they probley had just not gotten that far yet. I then went on line to investigate this company and realized there were other similar complaints such as mine and was extreamly angry. I decided I would return to Cellular Magician at the original lovation I had dropped it off at and enquire as to what was going on and what they planned on doing about it. The gentleman who originally took my laptop was making a sale to a new customer and told me just one minute and i agreed as i stated we really needed to talk. The customer responded "uh-oh" and the gentleman who original took possesion of my laptop responded to the customer with "Yeah, we get all the bad ones", which I found somewhat offesive as he had no idea yet as to why i was there. He handed the Customer over to another girl to check the customer out and then asked me what the problem was. I recently went to their Sherwood forest mall store to get my tablet battery replaced. They said that it would be $150 for the battery but that sometimes the screen breaks when getting it off and that it could be $250 if that happens. I accepted the risks at that price and left. A couple days later they call me to tell me that they broke the screen and that it's now going to be $250. I said fine and continue. A couple days after that, they call me to say that the screen they had it stock did not work and now they need to order more and that it's now going to be another 2-3 weeks. Frustrated but accepting that this is out of their control I said ok. After they had my tablet for over a month, I went into the store to see what was going on. They now said that they have to get it from a different supplier and that it's now going to be an additional 2-4 weeks and that the price is now $350 after they already said that it would only be $250 if they broke the screen!!! They said if I don't like that, that I can now take back my broken tablet that now has a broken screen that I can no longer use! I said that they need to honor the price they originally gave me that I based my decision on when accepting the risk that the screen might break. They said I could talk to the owner. I have a conversation with Chad Boutros and he was exceptionally rude telling me that "My general manager and my manager who are great with customers did not like speaking with you. Not everyone is a good customer." He kept saying that the price was only an estimate and that I can take my now broken tablet somewhere else and that he has lots of money and that "I honestly don't want you as a customer". At no time did I swear, yell or demand free service, etc. At no time was I told that the price was an estimate or that it could be more, etc. He said that all his staff use the wording "It SHOULD be $xxx". Chad clearly should never be customer facing as he does not have the social skills to communicate in a professional manner. They have now painted me into a corner where I can no longer take back my tablet in working order like when I brought it in and have to continue to wait for months with the price of repair continuing to climb to a point where the repair is going to cost more than it's worth. 12 days ago, I took my cell phone to the St Thomas On location to have my cracked screen repaired. $142.00 later, repaired. 10 days ago, I returned to Cellular Magician because the screen was not attached to the cell phone (i could look inside my phone). 1 hr later, repaired. This morning I set my phone down and when I returned, black screen. Took it again to my local Cellular Magician where the tech on duty warned me that if the screen was cracked it wasnt covered by warranty. As he is informing me of this he begins to rub his thumb along the side of the screen, in the exact spot there is a chip, convenient?!?! Sorry, not covered by warranty. I told him Im not paying them a second time to repair a phone that they improperly repaired, twice! In his defense, the tech did call his manager to see what they could do for me. The answer?? Its not covered under warranty but they will give me a discount. I refused. I will not pay a second time for a screen that they did not fix correctly the first time, and likely cracked themselves either the first or second attempt at repairing my screen. Do not get your phone fixed here, they will overcharge you for cheap china crap phone parts that will break within a month. worst service I've ever had, regret getting my phone fixed with them. read more
