We were looking for a place to eat on the day after Christmas and ended up here. It's located on the largest town square in downtown Amersfoort, which is an awesome location.
The restaurant had a cosy feel, with lots of tables but all with a private feel. Service was friendly, albeit a bit slow. The restaurant was packed that night, and we were not in a hurry, so that was fine with us.
Because it was the day after Christmas, we could only eat from a limited and very pricey menu (38 Euro). But we were happy to have found a restaurant that was open, and there were almost no other options.
Unfortunately, the food was nothing special. Our starter dishes, crab salad and tomato soup, both tasted prepared, straight from a can, and very blend. Nothing mediterranean about it. Then we could hit the salad bar, which was equally blend, just lettuce, cabbage, tomatoes, yoghurt and peppers. It was all fresh, but just very plain. I would have loved some fresh olives or feta, but that was not there.
The main dishes consisted of enormous amounts of meat - more than I would eat in a week! They appear to all be pork-based, and were all very salty and dry, but not spiced at all. My dish was flambeed at the table, which was pretty spectacular - I only wish the dishes tasted more spectacular as well.
I just found it to be very underwhelming, especially because we paid almost 40 euro for it. I have had much better food for that amount of money. I also regret having to send back so much meat.
Definitely not a restaurant for vegetarians, although their regular menu has ONE (yup, just one) meat-less dish. read more
