The city of Raleigh refuses to check their water meter or replace it without an invoice from a plumber. Our water bill was higher than usual the last few months. I did a toilet leak test and found no leaks. Nothing else on the property showed a leak. I called the water department and they were less than helpful. Despite our bill going DOWN after turning ON our sprinkler system, they insisted there was a leak. Matthew's Plumbing sent two guys out who listened to the story, checked the meter as I did, checked the crawl space (no leaks) and listened to me complain about the water department. I was expecting to pay $200+, instead they only charged me $75. These people are honest. I was upset enough that I would have paid the $200 or more had they asked me to do so. We've now used Beltran twice - and what a pleasure it was in both cases - the most recent involving a complete new kitchen hook-up. Having a new (lower sitting) farm style sink, everything had to be reconnected with adjustments, along with a new dishwasher being installed. The Beltran folks - two young, very personable and hard-working lads - arrived exactly at the scheduled time and immediately attacked the project.
