BBQ Ribs ($29)...plenty of tasty food, but skimpy with the greens.
    David L.

Conveniently located near URI, Celestial Cafe offers casual but refined dining - perfect for when parents are visiting students and picking up the tab! Our server, Cindie, walked us through the menu and expounded upon some of her favorite/recommended entrees. So many sounded interesting and delicious, including the calamari, eclipse, Thai cod, eggplant tower. We settled on the BBQ ribs and the fish and chips. Both were very good - the fish and pork were tender and accompanied by a generous portion of fries or mashed potatoes. The pickled apple slaw, served with both dishes, was very vinegary and contrasts the richness of the fried fish and pork. My only criticism of the ribs was the "seasonal vegetable," which was literally one skinny strand of broccolini. Their portions are generally ample, so the skimpiness of the greens was disappointing. Based on our first experience, I would definitely come back to try more of their offerings!

Mushroom bisque. Every bite was Wow Yum!

This place never seems to disappoint! Our server, Jamie, was excellent! Friendly and helpful and at the table when needed. Dinner here last night was absolutely delicious! Started with the pesto calamari. So many great flavors in this dish! Then had the mushroom bisque on special. Wow, wow, wow! Can't say enough good things about this dish! Well Done Chef!! Finished with their BBQ baby back ribs. Great flavor and fall off the bone!

This place has been right under my nose for so long and I had no idea! Came in recently for a solo lunch. It's a decently sized room and a separate bar area. I picked a sunny table next to the windows. Got to try a vegan sweet potato enchilada and the Thai peanut noodles. Everything was delicious...perfect flavors. They have a nice drink list, and I love the local options (got a Whalers seltzer). Service was very good and the chef even came out at one point to thank me for coming in. I can't wait to come back and try more.

Decent well prepared food and service. Slightly pricey for what you get. I think breakfast brunches are better than the lunches.

We usually order a special because they're so good. I wish they would bring back the pumpkin ravioli app in the fall (they had this a few seasons back and did it bring it back after but it was my favorite dish they served there besides the short rib ravioli special). The short rib ravioli special is AMAZING. We also love their strawberry romana dessert. Their drinks are always good. The service is consistently good, and the owners seem to take pride in their restaurant.

The complementary bread was warm and delicious...it came with a nice olive oil dip. We got two glasses of the Simi Valley Cab and they were delicious and robust. Great choice for a red wine. I ordered the clam spaghetti and my husband got the Chicken Rossini. The pasta was very salty...probably the saltiest dish I have had in years...I did not send it back, I just downed two full glasses of water with my meal. My husband's chicken dish was large and good tasting, but also a bit salty...not as much as my pasta dish, but salty. It's easy to add a bit of salt to a dish, but it's really hard to take it out. Based on how salty the food was, I would not be coming back here anytime soon.

We were suspicious that it was tossed with pink sauce but it was freshly made and the calamari rings were still crispy under the flavorful peppery sauce. The Veal O'Reilly was succulent and crispy. We were split on guessing whether the mushrooms were fresh or marinated (canned) but we both enjoyed it. The lasagna was tall and tasty. The Tagliatelle was al dente and nicely sauced with bolonese. The rollotini apps were fresh and flavorful! The lemoncello cake was very light and a great ending to a heavy meal. There is nothing bad to say about this place!

We sat at a high top in the bar and our waitress, who I called the Ice Queen, waited on us. Efficient but completely not friendly. We started with the Brussel Sprouts which were not great (my husband's are better), too much vinegar or something. For entrees, I had the chicken parm -- the chicken was super thick (not pounded out) and had very little flavor. The spaghetti was not fresh made -- felt like it was made yesterday and heated up -- the sauce wouldn't stick on it for some reason, weird. My husband had Eggplant parm and it was the worst he'd ever had - you couldn't even find the eggplant - it was just breading. Was sad, I'd picked the restaurant. Maybe it was an off night...?
