We had laminate put in about 8 years ago. Since then the dogs have scratched it and it began separating. In short, it looked horrible. So we decided to look for tile, which will hold up longer. We did the usual (Home D), spent 50 bucks for him to come out and measure and never call us back with an estimate along with a couple other locals. Last minute we drove by Celebrity on 6th and Beaumont. We stopped to see what time it was open since it was already late and businesses were closed. Even though it was after closing time Willie Mendoza let us come in and look around. We explained our problem and the mistak Willie made us feel right at home and showed us different tiles. He also gave us an education on how tile is suppose to be prepped and laid. My wife asked LOTS of questions and Mr. Mendoza was very patient. Even though it was after hours he followed us to our house and did the measurements. I might add he is very pro American and military which is important to us. I don't remember all the details but the price generally worked out to $7.50-$8.00 per square foot. We thought that was kind of expensive but after going to two other places and finding out they want in excess of $10 per square foot we decided to go with Celebrity Carpets. We also went with the porcelain tiles. The job included tear up laminate in our living, family, dining room, two hallways and kitchen. And tear up preexisting tile in our laundry room, closet and two bathrooms. All to be replaced with that beautiful tile. Work day came and the crew was all friendly but hard workers. By the way, 0830 sometimes means 0900 so expect that. They stopped to answer all of our questions and did just as we ask them. They were also very meticulous about cleaning up behind themselves after every day. While tearing up the laminate and baseboards we found mold in the walls between the family room and the bathrooms. Willie, who is not there all the time but stops in quite often to check on his crew and the job assured us he was able to take care of it. They cut out the offending walls, dealt with the mold, and replaced, textured and repainted the wall. They even went a step further and repainted the whole wall so the two different paints did not look different. I will finish by saying they also replaced all the baseboards with similar ones to avoid dealing with the mold and older baseboards. he also changed out the squared off corners for bullnose ones which will be in one of my pictures. FOR FREE! Some of the other things I liked was that they cut the baseboards so you couldn't see the seam. It might be standard but obviously not in my house. They were just squared off at different parts of the wall. Generally the process was to seal the cracks, level the floor, and put down an anti fracture so the tiles are less likely to break. If you don't know what all that is look it up. Its important. Now the plumbing. Didn't go so well.The plumber came in and put new copper in and raised the height of the handle so we didn't have to bend so far. My wife wanted the flange replaced since it was rusted and appeared to be leaking also. They cut the concrete, replaced the flange and repaired the concrete. He placed in the tub and surround. I should have ask more questions because he looked like he was having problems squaring it. I honestly thought that maybe the wall was out of square. Eventually, he got it in. It looked fine from the door. He gave the ok for the tile guy to finish and left. While they were placing subway tile to the ceiling FOR FREE because it looked better we noticed it wasn't in square. I checked it and it was way off level and there were gaps where the surrounds come together. The worse part was this "professional" plumber knew all this and didn't bother to inform me. Make sure you check everything because its YOUR money. I called Mr. Mendoza and was not happy. I must say he was very receptive and appeared just as upset as I was. He immediately had two of his workers come over and fix it. It included taking down the tile and removing and reinstalling the tub and shower after leveling the floor with self leveler. His crew made sure I seen that the work was done right this time. One day he also sent only the tile men and no workers to finish up other work. I knew he was doing other jobs but my time is important also. It just took a phone call to get an apology and two workers sent right away. He also replaced the closet drywall FOR FREE since it also had mold. We also threw a few curveballs like a new tub and toilet. No problem. Like any job you have to do your homework, ask questions, get estimates and point out anything you aren't happy with. The real stars are the workers and their attention to detail. But Mr. Mendoza delivered exactly what he promised and more. I would highly recommend CELEBERITY CARPETS. read more

horrible company. they promise the moon and deliver nothing. the owner, willie mendoza, is an aweful business man. the crew would not show up and no one would call to notify us. willie didn't order enough materials so he ended up laying down tile that didn't match and then refused to fix it. so save yourself a headache and use someone else. read more

We ordered the carpet and pad for three rooms with Willie's recommendations. The installers, Gustavo and his brother were right on time on the install day. They worked very fast and cleaned up as they were doing each room, no short cuts were taken. The carpet looks great and feels good to walk on it. No star for me, I had the carpet installed at my house 2 years ago, they suggest me for nylon carpet, I hate it. The owner shown up for estimates, we asked for the 8x10' for cushion for the area rug in living room. He said Ok will give it to you for free. Then we gave them business. Then the day for install, we don't get the cushion we want, they try to give us the slip cushion. We went back & asked for it, the owner will not come out & talk to us. We are really mad & just want to remove all the carpet & throw back to the owner. This man are not keeping his words. No business with this place ever. We pay more than we expect. My home the floor replacement needs, also a property that I was rehabbing to sell, they helped me with the flooring blinds and painting inside/out and landscaping which needed a lot of help. I give Willie and Celebrity Carpets a 5 star rating! I was moving into a different house, and had him re-tile and re-carpet the entire house, put new granite in the kitchen, remove old fluorescent ceiling fixtures and replace them with LED fixtures, put in a new shower to replace an old bathtub, replace all bathroom cabinetry, and several other interior improvements. He also put flagstones in the front patio. While the work was being done, I became ill and had to go to the hospital in a different city n hour away. Willie insisted on driving me there, and insisted on bringing my wife to visit me several times! While I was in the hospital, Willie's crew finished the job immaculately! The work was all perfect, the tile extended perfectly to all corners, the woodwork was perfect, and the fixtures all excellent and installed perfectly! I see there are some negative reviews, but that baffles me, as Willie so obviously took pride in his work, and delighted in describing the details of how the work was done. Think twice before working with Slick Willie Mendoza. Allow me to tell you my 1st hand experience. When he arrived, & quite tardy for our appointment, it was as if he just hopped down from his high horse & comes mozing up to the porch with his samples. He ask a couple of questions and narrows it down to carpet that's "on sale" for $30 from $40. Mind you I'm a 1st time homebuyer and carpet prices I've seen at Lowes is around 4-8$ per square whatever. Plus padding cost plus labor Would be $20-30/sqft. Willie I guess uses this higher price per sqft and "includes for free" his top of the line padding, nobody else will come close to offering such products for such a low price. Then calculates the cost of the laminate flooring with the best padding again included. Then Willie so generously threw in 4" base molding. A $1200 value, free. Remember this because we'll circle back. ( I give 4 stars to the installer guys, but give Slick Willie 1 star for his professionalism and not standing behind his product and quality & customer satisfaction. Preaching those qualities for his biz and local to the community, if you ever have a problem I'll take care of it, here's a letter of recommendation, give then a call, and also whips out his contractors card and other "official" credentials, & bla, bla, bla to seal the deal. To do the flooring project Willie quoted me $6k. I got a quote from Empire for $4800. After reading Empire reviews I wasn't going there. For the extra $1200, I figured "free" base molding, & including the best padding etc, I'd keep the job in the community and give old Willie the biz. During one of the install days I had Willie give me a quote on overhauling my kitchen and 2 very small baths. Willie preaches quality, Lowes stuff is crap, I'm only using the best materials etc. $18k. For what Willie was offering, it seemed reasonable but I have no idea. But I was planing on going for it anyway. Willie's on line photos and reviews were positive. During the install, Willie advise I have water leaking under the exterior wall and into the floor interior. Willie quotes to completely seal up the foundation & stucco wall, cut open the lower portion of the interior was all the way across, check / replace any mold areas and and fix it all right. In addition to floating my laundry area floor ($750) for $3800. Now I felt he was milking a sucker. All the while the crew completed the job except for the laundry area. Willie assured me that when he or I floats the floor he will send his guys back asap to finish the job. This was on a Thursday. I returned home and found a beautiful job. However upon closer inspection the guys came up about a 1/2 in short on butting up to the last molding. Instead of doing the right thing and go buy another molding and do it right, they filled it in with caulk. Looked bad, but it was located in a dark corner so I won't see it but will know. However for $6k, I want perfect, the guys thought it would pass my inspection and it failed. I called Willie to advise. His answer, " I threw that in for free. If I hadn't you would have not hired me. Because it was free I don't cover it and won't fix what your asking." Willie will not cover it to a customers satisfaction or cover in any shape or form apparently. I was steaming. I'm now wondered if he gave me the best padding but don't want to pull up the carpet, since I wasn't here to see it installed. Willie insisted he be paid in full. Now I was concerned that if I pay in full, he won't finish the job. After heated discussions, I paid in full. The following day I contacted a floor specialist who did the float job for $250. On that Monday I called Willie to advise it was done and needed him to finish the job. (It took less than 90 minutes to complete the job) but Slick Willie put me off a week b4 finishing the floor and put me off a second week to complete the molding in the laundry room. All the while moving in and not having a washer & dryer to use for 2 weeks. I advised Willie of this, but still would not send his guys over for less than 90 minutes of work to complete. While Slick Willie did finish the job, putting me off for 2 weeks and not covering the cheesy molding because "I didn't charge you so there's nothing I can do", to a $6k paying customer, I would NOT recommend Slick Willie and his Celebrity Carpets. We just finished having Celebrity Carpets fix our leaking bathroom and put tile in the master bathroom, and they gutted our entire kitchen and laundry room, and replaced it with new tile flooring, new maple cabinets, new granite, etc. They did a beautiful job, and were great to work with. The owner and his crew always explained everything, and were always one step ahead of our unending questions. When we saw something we thought should be fixed they already knew about it and had scheduled more professionals out to the home. There wasn't anything that had to be "fixed" because their work was excellent, but we were anxious on the little finishing touches, but they did everything in order. Reinforced the floor before the tile, balanced everything, etc. We also had pleasant surprises, like big drawers in the kitchen on a couple of cabinets when there were just shelves before. Another surprise was pull out shelves on all bottom shelves. They were great and fun to work with. The owner, Willie Mendoza (quite a gentleman) had his entire family come out and pack up our kitchen and bath before the demolition. He also had them come back and unpack and put away the dishes, pots and pans when the cabinets were ready. Don't know if this is how all his customers are treated, but it sure made us feel special. He also explained the work, how the cabinets were being made, etc. All his workers that came to our home were polite, helpful and from watching them you can tell they knew their craft. To all who need remodeling, carpets, new floors, new bathrooms, kitchens, this is the company. We remodeled with another company 1 1/2 years ago and their work just fell apart, therefore the leak in the bathroom, sinking floors in the kitchen, etc., what a mess. I have owned 12 homes in my lifetime (I am a senior), and 2 were built from scratch and several remodeled, and this is the best work I have ever had done. Obviously I cannot say enough good things about this company and Willie Mendoza. Celebrity Carpets does it all. We are not related, and I never met Willie until we hired him because of references from our neighbors who remodeled with him. read more

Willie, the owner brought in a great crew and did an excellent job laying my linoleum and carpeting. The only disappointing aspect was Willie did not have enough linoleum for the master bedroom bathroom. We had discussed covering the heavy traffic carpet area from carpeting to linoleum but since I bought the flooring from his stock in the warehouse there wasn't enough linoleum, needless to say I was very disappointed! But overall I love my new carpet and linoleum and had a good experience with Celebrity Carpets! read more
