Today, Jo (my wife) was on the look out for a bourbon (Colonel E. H. Taylor small batch) she wanted to try and I grabbed a bottle of Tito's vodka to replenish our cabinet. The Tito's had a good price on it and I could have had an even better deal on a larger bottle. The best thing about Southern Spirits is their relative closeness to our house so it's nice to normally be able to find what you are looking for there. They also will make a special order for you if they don't carry it.

This instance of Jeff's just didn't have the quantity nor the selection closer to I-95. I still ended up buying a couple of sixers of local brew, but there was not much to choose from, which I found surprising. Also, as a side note, for both this Jeff's and the one on US 17 - not being able to create your own sixer is a bummer. One of the reasons I didn't give the other local a full-five. Regardless of this, it's a solid place, give it a try, they have most of the usual and super popular stuff...

They really want you in to spend money and could care less to make your acquaintance. Prices are a little higher than normal and craft beer could be better with dates. Maybe rotate them on a regular basis. I can't really say if there are any serious craft beer drinkers in this city due to the fact there's only one brewery which has a Viking theme which is not necessary.

Hops on Fire sits just a short detour off I‑95, close enough to be convenient but still tucked away from the highway rush. I would never suggest driving and drinking, of course, and over the span of three hours I limited myself to one big beer and one small beer, which was more than enough for a relaxed stop. The inside space is genuinely comfy, warm without trying too hard, and they offer outside seating as well for anyone who prefers the open air. I found a quiet corner next to an outlet, set up my laptop, and spent a good stretch of time writing Yelp reviews and mapping out the next leg of my journey. It had that easy, unhurried rhythm that makes a place feel like a small haven on a long drive. Plenty of locals drifted in and out, giving the room a steady but never overwhelming pulse. The beer was pleasant and well‑kept, though the menu leans heavily toward IPAs. I enjoyed the one I chose, and the peanut butter beer made for a fun little dessert at the end of the night. Still, I would love to see a solid Pilsner on the board next time, something crisp to balance out all those hops. [Review 1639 of 2025 - 879 in Georgia - 25187 overall]
