I don't like doing negative reviews. This place has had to many Veterinary doctors and now use minimal experienced doctors from carribean schools. I took my dog there and got minimal help for her skin problem. A single prescription that did nothing to help her skin. With the help of a friend referral saw an experienced vet that knew what to do. Steroid shot, 2 prescriptions, and special shampoo and dermatology experience. My dog is 100% fine now. Cedars Veterinary Hospital failed me and my dog. read more

I have been going here from before the practice was sold to the Dr.Kim and her husband. I continued going here because when I met Dr.kim she was fantastic with my dog which was less then perfect but she was my perfect. Dr kim treated her the same way she treated all the other pups and was willing yo listen to our suggestions on how my pup needed to be taken care of to get her medical needs addressed Dr Kim as I call her in my opinion was the perfect vet for my pup .Now my pup after 15 wonderful years had to cross the rainbow Bridge its been about 3 years since and we decided to adopt from a rescue 2 more puppies and the first place for them to go was to see Dr kim . By the way what I failed to mention was I now live in Southern Jersey and I drive 1hour to go there and would not think of going anywhere else. When I say their the best I mean it. I took my dog there in September of 2023 as his hind legs were weak and he would pant heavily as if he was in pain. The Dr. prescribed Carprofen 75mg twice daily. It worked great for a few months but then my dog started becoming very lethargic, not eating and having trouble with his legs again. We brought him back 2 days ago and got bloodwork done. I received a phone call yesterday saying he was anemic and to bring him back for an xray. When I returned the call and spoke with the Dr. she said his red blood cells are so low it looks like he may have an internal bleed and we need x-rays, from there most likely a sonogram and possible surgery. My dog is 12 years old and my husband and I decided surgery wasn't the way to go. When I called the office to inform them I got quit an attitude. The woman said so basically you are not doing anything for your dog. The Dr. called me back and said we could put him on steroids to make him comfortable, so that's what we decided to do. Upon some research the original Carprofen (prescribed in September) can cause ulcers/internal bleeding/low red blood cell counts, etc...so I am confused why this wasn't discussed once the bloodwork came back? Not to mention she started him on the highest dose possible. Typically, you start low an increase the meds as needed. Instead of doing xrays, sonograms and surgery I think it would have been smart to stop taking the medicine and see if anything improved and redo the bloodwork. Now the kicker, when I researched the steroids she gave me to "make him comfortable" they cause internal bleeding!!!!!(which by the way we don't know if he is bleeding internally) typically he would have bloody stool or vomit but the vet didn't even bother to ask me those questions. Its as if she was trying to kill my dog. When I called today saying I wanted my dogs records and to return the medicine because it can cause internal bleeding and you just diagnosed my dog with possible internal bleeding they said fine. I did not receive a call from the Dr. nor when I went in did the Dr. speak with me. A true professional would have given an explanation as to why they were doing what they were doing but I guess she didn't have one. read more

They used to be friendly and helpful. After 10 years of concern and compassion for pets, the new vets have obviously become more about gouging people even in dire situations. My puppy had a medical emergency that had me in a panic. A piece of tree branch had become wedged in the roof of her Mouth! I called to explain the situation and that my financial situation at this time would prevent me from making immediate payment but that I could pay in a week. The response from the desk attendant was that there was no way they would even consider it and that it would be a $100 minimum to see my puppy. I found an emergency service in Tinton falls and they reassured me that we could work out a payment arrangement or that I could apply for Credit Care, but that most importantly the animal would be seen. I will be looking for a new vet. read more

My family has been using Cedars Veterinary Hospital since the day it opened, having followed its late founder, Dr. Eric Hudson, from his previous practice in Jackson. It has to be at least twenty years now. The loss of Dr. Hudson was tragic, but the new vet, Dr. Mikowski, has done an admirable job of stepping in, though no one will ever be able to fill his shoes. The office staff has remained the same through the transition, and they are wonderful people who know you by name, and seem to really care about the well being of your animal companions. So far, I have experienced the same level of care and understanding from the new vet and technicians, and based on that, I have to continue to feel the office is worthy of five stars. As it stands now, I wouldn't consider taking my babies anywhere else. read more

I have been going to Cedars Veterinary Hospital since the day they opened. I have NEVER had any issues. The staff is a great one. Dr. Kim Makowski is down to earth, compassionate, thorough...I could go on and on.....I have never felt rushed. She gives each patient as much time as is needed. Everyone understands that's how she rolls. I know I appreciate the time she takes to explain everything. My family loves her and her staff. When she is away on Vacation she makes sure her covering Vet. will care for her patients as she would. I could never imagine going anywhere else. read more

Brought due to Yorkie acting lethargic on Monday June 12.... big mistake. Tests resulted in a Renal failure diagnosis along with Lyme disease. Female vet was curt and very condescending. Received medicine and given an appointment for the next day... paid $900 bill. Yorkie returned on June 13 and given a high blood pressure diagnosis. Cedars was out of the medication but assured they would call on Thursday with new medicine. paid bill. Waited for Cedars to call Thursday, no call. Placed a call to them at 2:00.... receptionist didn't know why I wasn't called, vet was busy and I'd "probably " receive a call shortly. Was never called.... Yorkie was appreciably worse on Friday, June16.... called but no appointments available. Receptionist couldn't answer why calls regarding medications not returned. Yorkie was in severe pain, yelping in pain on Saturday, June 17. Dog wouldn't eat or drink in the last 24 hours. Called Cedars at 9:00 am. Receptionist was told the issues regarding the dog, put me on hold for a full 10 minutes and said only time I could bring dog in was " around noon" and it would be very very busy here. Informed employee of the dog yelping in pain but she said there was Nothing she could do. Paid Cedars over $1,200 and absolutely no help or compassion was shown.... complete incompetence and no concern for pet was evident. Called Adamston Veterinary Clinic..... they were compassionate and had me bring the distressed animal immediately.... Veterinarian met my Yorkie an I at the door! read more

Love this Vet. My dog was attacked and needed immediate attention. They treated her within 1/2 hour of calling them AND she had never seen the vet before. I was concerned because she was an older dog and the bite was serious. We had recently moved to the area and had yet to select a new vet. The surgery was a complete success and the scar is not visible except to a trained eye. The vet was reassuring throughout the entire time. We now bring both of our dogs there and are extremely happy with all aspects of the practice. Our other dog is a bit of a personality and likes to use his size and fiercer look to get his way. The vet saw right through this and was having no part of it. Put him in his place with quiet confidence and positive interaction. The dog actually does not mind going to her and knows where all the treats are. read more
