First time to duck creek and we didn't do our research beforehand. Well it was Monday and we were out of food. True Value is actually closed on mondays for the winter but Doug and his wife were so kind to come down and open the store for us to grab a few things. Truly nice people! They have sledding, snow shovels, and snow play toys that were perfect! We were able to find some snow gloves for my husband that worked great. They had pull ups (thank goodness!) for a fair price too. Their shop kitty is adorable, they were so kind to let my kids pet her (after we asked of course). Man, did you forget something before you came up the mountain? This place may have it, as well as some repair equipment you may need for your cabin! There is a lovely art gallery upstairs filled with nature photography. There are massages available by appointment in the upstairs loft as well! There is a big fat dog named Blue who hangs out at the store and was lying by the door greeting everyone as they came in. He is so sweet! I made sure to snap a photo of him! We were stranded in a snowstorm when we arrived to find the The Lodge had closed and canceled our reservation. Imagine, late at night, 3 kids, 2 dogs and no where to go! Doug came to our rescue, let us park, gather our thoughts, use the bathroom, etc. He was welcoming and left us wanting to return another time to explore this beautiful town (but not from The Lodge). We will be back some day to say "thank you" in person. read more

My husband and I just bought a cabin in Duck Creek. Our fist night at the cabin we realized we left ALL of our food at home. We ran over to True Value and Doug and his wife were just the best! End up coming here for actually their espresso bar and their gift shop upstairs. We actually came 6 out of 7 days to the espresso bar. The owners are really involved in the community and this is the hub for all you need to know about the Duck Creek Village and area. We ordered daily Strawberry/banana smoothies and Mocha Frap drinks. The flavor was really good. They only had vanilla in sugar free but I was fine with me ordering a Vanilla Frap and my husband getting Mocha. I felt my Vanilla was just as good. Upstairs they have some really cute lodge feel merchandise. I bought several gifts for family and friends. They are a hardware store but we didn't need anything like that this go around. I would highly recommend you stop in here! You don't have to be looking for propane, fishing license, batteries etc. you can come for an espresso and talk to some wonderful people. Love this village and owners like these are the reason we do and why we come back and support the village businesses each year. read more

Doug (owner) was extremely helpful to my family with all our needs for a week of vacation in the snow. He and his wife are very involved in the community. This is much more than just a hardware store, it was our go-to for information and supplies (including propane tank refill and firewood). Great small town feel!
