I first went to see Judi after a sudden unexpected break-up of a six and a half year relationship. A few months prior to that my son had recently graduated from college and had moved out of the house to another state. I was spending a lot of time alone. It's hard for me to ask for help, and my friends had their own problems and did not seem to understand what I was going through. Lacking strong support, I was having a difficult time.
I first met Judi at the gym.She had invited me to a two-part relationship Meet-Up group for singles that she was facilitating. I told her I was not single but my relationship was not going too well, so I would attend. The day of the break-up happened to be the day of the meet-up. Within a few days I was able to came in for one-on-one coaching. Prior to that time I had been considering life coaching for help with decisions involving my career paths.
Judi helped me to recover from the initial shock, by using hypnosis and EFT (TAPPING) -a method that employs acupuncture points, relaxation and visualization to help people overcome anxiety. I continued to see her once a week for several months. There were a lot of ups and downs (which I learned is normal for the grieving process); however my stress seemed to be intensified by my own negativity, as well as family of origin issues (that I was not completely aware of). Judy's insights helped me identify these 'trigger points' that were the result of a very stressful childhood, explaining how they had contributed to the reactions I was experiencing. Through cognitive therapy, and role play, she helped me learn how to respond in a more rational way, instead of simply REACTING in an emotionally negative way.
Judi uses many different modalities in her coaching. She employs traditional therapeutic techniques such as active listening, cognitive therapy, and role-playing. She also is experienced in 'alternative therapies' including daily affirmation techniques, EFT, guided meditation, positive visualization,and hypnosis. Because she is a COACH she teaches you HOW to employ these techniques on your own.She is also skilled at breaking things down into a specific step-by-step plan. With her background in education she knows how to effectively communicate these ideas using interactive charts, diagrams and videos.
Now one year later I am working on increasing self-esteem, career strategies,and learning how to visualize success. I am thankful that Judi was there to support me when I was going through a very difficult time in my life.
