But they seem to be somewhat schizophrenic. They can't decide if they want to be a nicknack gift store or a coffee shop or an ice cream parlor. They make an attempt to do all three...but it ends up being a disappointing combination. The ice cream is okay. It's Cedar Crest ice cream which is alright, nothing special. This is Wisconsin's version of Kemps ice cream which is, basically, grocery store ice cream. It definitely isn't high end ice cream. (Of course, premium ice cream is also more expensive.) The brewed coffee and the coffee beans and the whole coffee shop side of things is okay. But the whole vibe seems like a strange afterthought inside a boring space that's inside a small strip mall. This isn't a space were I'd feel comfortable relaxing and spending time with friends. I don't like the weird location on the far south end of town. And it doesn't seem to be the appropriate style of building. Usually, coffee shops are dark and warm and personalized and mellow. Instead, it's in a newer strip mall. There's no main street access. You have to enter from the far back and drive around the side of the complex to park in front. Weird. And the entire space itself is bright and seems kinda unwelcoming. Last but not least, there's an empty space next door, available for rent, with no wall. So you get to see all the empty space, unused chairs, junk sitting around, etc. This is not the fault of Moojo's, it's on the landlord. Still, pretty tacky. They should at least hang some large curtains to block this off and close things up. I respect what they're trying to do but I think they should rethink the basic concept. In my personal opinion, they should dump the T-shirts & collectibles and go all-in with coffee and ice cream. And they should try hard to make the whole space more comfortable and a place where people can relax and hang out. My friend showed up shortly after and we ordered. I understand that coffee shops do not want people loitering and using their Wi-Fi without ordering. Coming after me while I was still getting settled seemed abrupt and rude. Telling me about the 10-minute rule would be reasonable if I was there 15-20 minutes without ordering. There are lots of coffee shops around that are a lot more friendly. I will not back.

It took me a month to write this because it was such a terrible experience. I ordered a caramel frappe (came out chunky with ice and tasted not great). I ordered the gluten free carrot cake and cauliflower crust pizza. I tried to order the gluten free pasta beforehand but they were out of gluten free noodles. So I settled. They both tasted decent, nothing to write home about. Paid and left. When we got back home I was throwing up violently profusely as I do when I have had gluten, cross contamination offers a stomach ache and internal issues. So I knew it was gluten and not just cross contamination. While I was unwell I had my friend call and try to confirm that the items I had were gluten free as that was what I ordered and also the waitress knew I needed things gluten free. The manager got on the phone and started out the conversation with "I'm not trying to be an a$$..." great start. And then later on told us they "do not accommodate celiacs". We stopped at Caribou Coffee on Paperjack Drive in New Richmond on Sunday morning, July 5, during one of the busiest times I've ever seen. Despite being short-staffed, the employees never stopped smiling, worked efficiently, and treated every customer with courtesy and respect. Great coffee is expected at Caribou, but outstanding customer service like this deserves to be recognized. Thank you to everyone working that morning--you represented Caribou exceptionally well.

This location has an excellent selection across just about every food category. There was plenty of fresh produce, canned goods, bulk grains and rice, dairy products, beverages, and much more. I also discovered something I'd never seen before: Walking Tamales. They looked like an interesting alternative to the typical energy bar, which often seems loaded with sugar and other sweeteners. The people at checkout were friendly and helpful, making for a pleasant shopping experience. I'd definitely stop back the next time I'm in the area.

I got the best brewed coffee of the day there (impressive considering I stopped at two different coffee shops beforehand) and also purchased a package of pita chips and hummus that were made in Eau Claire-the pita chips were spectacular-the best I've ever had, and the hummus was good too. I opened the hummus pack last night with the idea of only eating a few, but couldn't stop myself until half of it was gone. So crispy, crunchy, yet airy and light.
